Kind words. I appreciate them. All too many trolls that want to spread negativity. Thanks for watching. Freddy

Luckily I'm one of the 3% thanks to your videos! I'm also always amazed by how few divers equalize their masks and end up with a massive ring around their face after every dive.

Hey Mud, see CaptainCari's question above. My reply will help you as well. You can get a dry suit for surface sports. A lot less expensive than one for scuba diving. No special training for a scuba dry suit. They keep you dry and you can put all kinds of warm items underneath. Thanks for watching. Freddy

Hey Freddy’s back!!! My wife and I recently got certified and have fallen in love with diving.
I have watched pretty much every single video you have on your channel and I bought the ear shield prior to my first ever dive with the instructor. At the end, the instructor and all other divers were complaining about ear pain. Not us!!
I bought a mask based on your advice and I make sure not to tighten it too much while diving. My wife has zero leaks in hers at all, but I do. I think it’s because of my facial hair. What do you do to solve this?

Hey Scott, sooo glad you are a diver. Your doing it right so far. I will have a video coming out in a few weeks about diving with facial hair but in the meantime My last newsletter had this advice for men with Mustaches.
A few choices you have. How to dive with a mustache?
      1. Shave it off.
      2. Shave just 1/4 below your nose then raise the skirt almost to your nose. Skirt touches the skin and seals better.
      3. Apply goop to the stache. Specifically, mask seal or bees wax. Usually works for 2 dives or 3 in a row. Absolutely no petroleum products!!! They eat silicone. So, no Vaseline, Vicks, ChapStick, or any other product like them.
      4. Pressurize your mask slightly. As you go deeper, suction aids the leak in your mask. If you offset it by exhaling lightly from your nose it will not let water in and may help in expelling water.
      5. Get a mask that actually fits you. 95% of divers use a mask that doesn't really fit them. The better the fit the less it leaks.
      6. Get used to a little water in your mask.

Hi When you try the mask with just gravity do you inhale a little bit or not at all ? Many thanks

You do inhale slightly through your nose. But you do not help the mask to fit by pressing it onto your face. Thanks for watching. Freddy

Hi Freddie, when I dive my mask slides up my face gradually because of the bubbles. The mask doesn't leak and the strap isn't tight so I was wondering if it was because the mask didn't fit me properly and how I could fix this. Thanks.

Tough to say without seeing but... Try lowering your strap location on the back of your head. You may need to adjust the tension a little but then it won't continually be pulling upward. When you say "because of the bubbles" that might be because you are exhaling through your nose. If you do that, it pressurizes your mask too much and it wants to ride a bit away from your face. It is good to keep pressure in your mask but not to exhale through your nose.
And unfortunately you might have a mask that does not fit properly. Watch our video about fitting a mask and you will quickly know if yours does or not.
Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Freddy

what is the better brands OF mask's?

    • @LeviathanScuba
      @LeviathanScuba  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Not sure what OF means? Usually the larger brand names have quality materials. Check out the video on how to choose a mask as we address brands. The fit is your number one concern before brand. But also quality materials like tempered glass, Silicone skirts, quality buckles. TUSA, Atomic, Mares, Oceanic, Indigo, XS, Cressi, are all pretty good brands and quality.
