Stuck In A Loop: When Hallucinogens Cause Cyclical Behavior or HPPD | More Than Rehab

- There are instances when individuals who abuse hallucinogenic drugs like MDMA (ecstasy), psilocybin (also called magic mushrooms), and LSD experience the effects several weeks, months, and even years after abusing the drug. These effects are commonly referred to as flashbacks and are prevalent in people suffering from HPPD (Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder).
Hallucinogen Persistent Perception Disorder, or HPPD refers to the visual disturbances that hallucinogenic drug users experience long after using the drugs. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, visual disturbances range from bright circles and size distortion to blurry patterns.
People suffering from HPPD only experience flashbacks. They do not re-experience any other feeling of being high on the drugs they consumed before.
HPPD flashbacks are annoying, especially if they happen frequently. Although the flashbacks aren’t necessarily full hallucinations, they may result in mental health problems like anxiety.
Scientists argue that HPPD hallucinations are pseudo hallucinations, and those who experience them can differentiate what is real from what isn’t.

I have type 2 with lots of permanent color pattern s light flashes and permanent tracers from doing lots of psychedelics from 13-16, I used to eat sheets of acid and ounces of cubenses ( not at onc but like 3 tab a day every day for a month straight thinking it wouldnt hurt me cause everyone says psychedelics are harmless, well let me tell you wait till your in your mid to late 20’s before you trip as it caused all sorts of permanent issues.
I second this, I did psychs from 2019-2021 and didn’t really take much of a break. It 2023, and I still feeling the effects of it, some I have to sit back bc I’ll think I’m tripping
Bet you were “cool” then!
I have something going on that I am NOT asking a doc about. About a year ago I experimented with DMT and got really into meditation for help with a movement disorder. It worked way better than I ever could have dreamed only hyperspace invaded my normal reality and honestly it’s like I’m in a DMT trip that never really stops... in all the best possible ways! I’m able to use my body again and tho it’s nothing like before my car accident it’s actually so much more awesome! I genuinely don’t know what’s going on but everyone around me thinks I’m getting over the condition!
Please tell your doctor, multiple types of psychosis are possible with HPPD and it’s NOT FUN
@@monkeyworship8804 honestly what i was experiencing seems to be related to spirituality and not psychosis. Things are still getting more interesting all the time, but outwardly im back to full time work and my lifes coming back together. Pretty well recovered from injuries I was told were permanent prior to DMT
Doctor Strange ?!
@@monkeyworship8804 yeah this wasnt psychosis at all. I was watching my brain heal and it was really overwhelming at times. Im back to working full time and enjoying life
I don't mind tbh, I have type 2 and it doesn't affect anything in my day to day. life, ill just see the ground or wall breathing or patterns fade in / out randomly, hasn't affected my driving or anything else and I kinda enjoy the visuals I just call it a forever trip lol
Bro i always tought in was just crazy man
It's called being permafried, or "printed". If you'd been printed for real, you wouldn't be all casual about it.
@@outtosea25 I take Lucy every other weekend still, everyone is affected differently, don't talk through your ego like that tho it ain't a good look
I guess your job isn't too demanding?
@marekgalteestaff7087 physically not at all, mentally very much so lol I'm a futures day trader, I don't get visuals while staring at my monitor though
Psylocybin is pronounced “sil-oh sybin”
Thats terrifying
not rlly, it’s just bright colors checkerboard kinda visuals it depends if u had a bad trip on recent hallucinogen then you see partial of that not as severe as wtv psychedelic

I've endured this since late 2020. Spent all of 2021 and 2022 on failed attempts with multiple antipsychotics. Tried keto in 2023. Lamotrigine in 2024 made a bit of a difference. Now on Mediterranean diet. Shall be starting clonidine shortly.

Yes after an acid trip anytime I smoke weed it feels like I took acid but not as intense of course and only lasts a few minutes. It can even happen if you just think about. It’s basically like ptsd
Weed has hallucinogen effects as well. How long this been happening for you?? Been happening to me to.

weed isn’t a hallucinogen

I got type 2 pretty bad but its pretty neat. It looks/feels like your imagination is on overdrive so much that you can see it while your eyes are open. It does't affect my ability to do anything because its easily differentiable from actual objects but I can see how it can be stressful
HALLUCINATION IS NATURAL. BUT DO HAVE RESPECT ON. HOWEVER IS THAT THESE ARE 100% ELECTRICITY LEAKS CAUSED NOT SEEING TO OTHERS. HUMANS EASILY RE ORGANIZE.
what is this electricity leaks? i have this syndrome and i hate it
Mine never ends. I have flashback that can be bery intense. But otherwise its as if im always on a dose of a concoction of hallucinogens. It effects many things i do usually not badly bu driving is not much of an option. Depth perception going 35 mph or more is impossible to calculate. I can't even walk across a highway without wlmost geting hit sometimes. Its been 3 years since it happened, only has gotten more intense. Dont be afraid of the trip, you have a special gift in this world, you can explore your mind deeper than most, just be in the present. Otherwise you get stuck in thw past or future. Just thrive and be alive
I’ve had this for over a decade; I’m okay with it❤
