- This is a clip from a 1987 documentary 'Glasgow by the way', which features some footage of the Brothers bar in Possil. From a time when pubs were for drinking in ....before food took over ...and you didn't have to go out in the rain for a smoke ........

Great seeing celtic and rangers fans drinking together
Blackbirds sing with the Blackbirds,Doves fly with the doves.Never the twain shall meet.
Spent the first 20 years of my life in Glasgow. Nostalgic for it but you couldnt pay me to live there again.

My granny ran the balmore just along the road from the Bros, looked a heavy shop 😂
It was one of the best Michael. CHEERS.
andy jasper was a great friend too me and all the jaspers were a lovely family...brings back happy memories watching this................
Nice to see my old mate James Curzon and his brother Tam. I also remember Harry Jasper and Bill Kennedy.--------Tam Maguire
Joe & Michael McHugh, good but firm guys. They knew how to run a pub, and as a few people have commented it was not overly common to have Celtic & Rangers supporters drinking in the same bar. They also ran The Morven in Springburn area for a while, another pub that could tell a few stories.
just saw wee shuggy dinnie.superb.rip shug miss bumpin into you in the brothers lounge at the weekends.
blew me away when saw this..wee andy and harry jasper!!!!andy was a good man and a good uncle too me...knew all the bros n old mrs J..whit a charachter...happy new year 2 all who knew them...Paul McGachan.

A proper drinking pub without teenagers taking over.Looks like it had a good buzz in there.
What are you talking about? It’s mostly teenagers, that’s what they look like in possil

hard streets breed hard lives
Bit like northern Ireland not to many bars in Glasgow where both Celtic and rangers fans can enjoy a pint together
Jim "Coaty" Campbell, That Name Conjures Up Some Memories, I Heard He Went To Australia, Boy Could Swap Things, Could Sell Ice To Eskimo's, And Sand To Arabs, Heard He Sold The Sydney Harbour Bridge 3 Times To Gullible Yanks, Hahaha, Only Kidding, Got His Nickname From, John Longwell, Tommy Tomlinson, And Pat Roper, At St Cuthberts School, He Was pals With, Tony Dembski, Pat Higgins, And William Day, A Real Glesga Character Frae Possil.😂😅😊

I was in the police force Glasgow Maryhill when this pub first opened. The minute it opened the big telly was stolen .

@@julianpotentate5942 forgot more than I remember Julian, as they say auld age doesn't come alone. 😁
There's more pubs per head in Dumfries than any where else in the u.k.31 main churches in the town, what did they do stumble out the Kirk into the pub?
Thanks James . Been to Sanquar .....luv it :)
THe Brothers opened on my 18th b/day lol
I was pals with Marion Jasper is that your mom or aunt tell her Lizzie said hi , I have been in us for 26yrs
Think the Brothers was the first boozer to use cameras as you entered ,above door
remember the face at 1.52 what his name and is he still alive?
good old days
I like how Yer Man says Poe sull park. It's true name. I still cringe when folk refer to the area as Poe Sull. Naturally, Poh sill park would be the proper phonetic, but still nice to hear the word park at the end of the name.
What do you do when you hear Milngavie?🤣
Would like to have seen them do the Provanmill Inn lol.
He looks a nice guy - the guy in the red jumper
we grandads n this2.06sec
Like most of the Pubs back in the 60's 70's & 80's a lot of them were pretty friendly warm places so I'm often told
Social cleansing together with social problems has changed this forever, The Brothers is definitely a different establishment now as you all know in comparison to the days when the likes of Scheme were packing the place out.
Ha Ha - The Mad McUrine's advert, a secondary school memory, just before the Chinheads popped up!
@lallybumblebee haha ma granda is the barman at 1.15! :P
I have been in that pub in 89 where people did talk to me...some ned threw a pie at my mate;s face and told him he was only messing does he want a jar in the face
