I recently saw Marillion a in Atlanta. My wife, who habitually listen to "Horse Jazz" (Country Music), reluctantly joined me. On the way to the concert she declared that she "will be bored after 10 minutes". However, after 10 minutes of Hogarth and F.E.A.R. she became a fan and is now listening to Marillion on her commute to work! She has a lot of albums to catch up with!

Been my favorite band since I first saw them on MTV performing Kayleigh. I feel every note, every nuance of their special, sonic gifts. It's hard to describe them to the uninitiated...no one sounds like them or can can close to the level of emotional experience they bring to your ears.
In 1983 I was 13. I heard Script for a Jester's Tear in my cousin's flat in Wroclaw (German Breslau before WW II). That was the beginning. Now I'm 53 and thinking about that boy - as he was listening to Marillion. And wondering if time exists at all. Seems to me now that there is no time at all. People die but do not die. Greetings from Poland.
Born in 67, listening to the same music at a similar age, now father of two adults with greater responsibilities I had ever imagined, I find it difficult to visualise myself anything beyond the boy, loving this music and riding his bicycle. What happened to me? Music is still the same though
There are no other bands who are even close to being as good live as Marillion are. I have seen them countless times since 1983, they just get better and better!
I just had a dream that Brave was released about 22 years ago and that I'm approaching 50. But that can't be right, can it? It was in the last few years and I'm in my mid 20s, yes? And I didn't end up buying three copies either, did I? Still spellbinding. And from this, improving over time.
Credit where credit is due.. Steve Hogarth has the voice of an angel.... Immense lyrics, sung from the heart with an ocean of emotion... Could listen to the opening few minutes for the rest of my life. Whether it's Hogarth,Kerr or Buchanan those Northerners can sing ...FACT @3.25....different level
I am 44 years of age and Marillion always passed me by...my mistake. The more I hear the more I love their music. Hogarth's voice, in particular, touches me greatly. I cannot wait to learn more about the band, its members and the wonderful music they make. Magical.
What a brave, brave girl Never lied before Such a plain deceit Everyone would eventually know What a brave, brave girl Never loved before Placed herself in reach So he tried In his own way To find the heart Of the tight-packed rose She's gone now But oh, she aches She aches He will search until he's found A way to take the days See her sadness in your face She's inside you And she's crying
Very nice voice, where Fish lost his touch through Whisky this is still fantastic. It made me cry hearing this. And dont forget to mention Steven Rothery, one of the best guitar players still alive.
@@capcompass9298 Now is an even better time to still be a Marillion fan, there is so much music to reminisce with. Remembering the ups, the downs and lapping up the incredible musicianship throughout.
Wow! Steve (H) is 1 of those special singers that keep impressing. I cannot think of anyone like him. My moment of fame was in 1999 Oxford.. when I joined the band to sing Beautiful in front of a great crowd. Great memories from the past!
what a powerful piece of music. not as much happening as others from the band, but it reaches something deep inside, as only they can. i noticed the lovely young lady struggling to extinguish the candles, but it ended up perfectly.
One of the best and underrated / "undiscovered" prog bands of all time. Both eras. Their use of sonic atmosphere is astounding. Pure genius. There are so very few bands who display such emotion that they can actually make me cry when i immerse myself. They can rip your heart right out of your chest. This album, Misplaced Childhood, and particularly Clutching at Straws. Not for the faint of heart. They do it on purpose, though, and there is usually some form of healing (or acceptance) at the end of the album. Wow.
📯 avec mes excuses 🙈 je ne trouve pas de Smail l'ait 🧐 avec des bougies ? Sinon bien sûr je te l or ? Envoyer 😎 et pour le réveil matin 🥴 ne reste que l arme à 🔥
Fish left Marilian after clutching at straws, which is for me the best rock album ever made, Steve Hogarth is a great vocal but first 5 albums with Fish were to good for any singer who joined the band
Man, I saw Mariilion back in the 80’s when they produced great prog. This is just mundane and, to be frank, damned boring. Sounds like it was written in under an hour.
Yes, give us more of those angry songs written and performed by a drug and alcohol addled nitwit who thinks he's the victim whenever the girls he's abused and ignored shit on his intoxicated ego. I am happy for you , however, that there once was a band who made songs that reflected your own personage and your own life.
Magnificent. So proud to call them my favourite band.
That is Steve Rothery's daughter Jennifer lighting the candles.

Finally everything becomes right.

I love how this video opens with Mark Kelly. The guy is a frigging legend. Beautiful sounds and Beautiful playing.

Outstanding album, this was the first Marillion concert I ever went to, brilliant evening, great body of work from a brilliant band
What a finely tuned instrument Mr H has in that voice of his! Utterly fantastic!
Nigel Blake
His tonal movements are exquisite
They are a gift we are all so lucky to have enjoyed for such a long time.
Im 56 years old. I have only discovered this. How have I been so stupid and ill informed. Beautiful............

What a brave, brave girl
Never lied before
Such a plain deceit
Everyone would eventually know
What a brave, brave girl
Never loved before
Placed herself in reach
So he tried
In his own way
To find the heart
Of the tight-packed rose
She's gone now
But oh, she aches
She aches
He will search until he's found
A way to take the days
See her sadness in your face
She's inside you
And she's crying
Thanks for the words...
Waking up to such a beautiful song all my senses are altered I’m ready for the day
Magnifique 🤩
Tears running down....
Magnificent
Whem i hear Brave i see angels. Even i close my eyes

❤️ the first H era song I ever heard, took me a day to download it over a dial up modem but it was worth the wait!!
Ce concert était époustouflant le plus grandiose de mon Univers à moi 🧡et celui du Royal Abert Hall.❤️🔥
J'espère vous revoir bientôt 💞

Honestly MY FATHER died of AIDS pneumonia in 2013.
This is brilliant, but man - you look like Severus Snape 😂
Funny, this is FAR from horse jazz.
Epstein arrested. Yeah

Sounds like it was written in under an hour.
Title track from Album BRAVE. When you are in prog, so you must know the complete album.
Part of a concept album and in my opinion, Marillion's greatest work.
So is it. The recording process was too long for EMI. It is wrong to say, it was written in an hour.

Please, CHANGE VOCALIST!!!! ...Hogarth is a real torment!...Fish, Fish, Fish forever!!!!
You forgot the "/s", as you could not possibly be serious.
A bore filling in between Hogarth's outbursts of brilliance.
@@capcompass9298 Would Hogarth be brilliant ????...oh my God!
@@manner3954 Bloody spell checker doesn't recognise the word Rothery. Swap the two names. Rothery's playing is etherial.
@@capcompass9298 it's Hogarth's singing that makes me go to the bathroom
