I remember watching Dave play at our high school gym. He was killing it in the jazz band. We are extremely proud of him !

Great legendary drummers side by side having honest compliments of each other, other drummers and students. I love hearing these guys talk about things you don’t hear all the time. I love this interview.

Mike...great job. Thanks for letting the talent speak and breath without needing to be part of the show. By doing this, you become part of the show. We need much more of this...wisdom in that room was off the charts! Love the little things that taps personality, makes it interesting and memorable.

What a great interview Mike! I had the good fortune to know Peter since the mid 90s after being a fan since I first heard him on TV with Stan Kenton when i was 10. He has always been a great friend, gracious and supportive. Dave I met first time in 1987 when he did his first tour with the Chick Corea trio. We met several times through the years, among others when we did Yamaha Groove Night in 2003 together. Dave speaks for many of us when he describes his fascination for Peter and his playing. Peter Erskine WAS a big deal for our generation of drummers and is a significant inspiration to this day. Thanks again and cheers from oslo, norway!

Mike, I'm posting this before watching the interview but there's a clip I love of Peter when he was drumming in Maynard Ferguson's big band, performing the Rocky theme (Gonna Fly Now). There was a better version of this available, but this is still enjoyable

@@StraightNoChaser86 I think it is more to it than that. It is impossible to not be influenced by these great drummers and the artist they played with. When you never also mention Tony Williams and Billy Cobham, there is something deeper.
