Ian Stephenson Yes you can use that wire if that is fully metallic but may be you'll face some resistance problem. I think you should try a bike brake cable wire which is comparatively cheaper.

So it may be 12 volts AC, but it might be something like 2,000 amps more or less flowing through that wire. I also wouldn't use a speaker cable. That's not going to end well.

Just use a lantern battery instead. Then you don’t need all the switches and shit
You can also use the 12V rail of a PC power supply, you can get used ones for like $10. Make sure it supports enough current though
