Schröder and Putin are best buddies. I’m sure both made a lot of money with each other help and they actually developed a strong friendship.
Schröders closenesses with Putin is seen pretty bad in German politics, especially within his old party the SPD. He was „forced“ to resign from a few different positions as chairman or whatever.
Fun fact, Schröder was the head of Gazprom for a while and still holds a chair in the Gazprom management I think.

Die einzigen, die das halt nicht wollen, sind die Guten Amis.
Wie sagte George Freedman:"Keep The Germans down, the russians out and the American in."
Das ist US Doktrin seit mehr als 100 Jahren.

Volker Pispers is a legend. His goal is never to leave his show with the feeling of being entertained, but being enlightened. To feel the pain of the weak people of our world. He wants to destroy your euphemism and kick you back into reality. After seeing him live I teared up about how cruel and greedy the world can be. And you can feel his anger about how things are going in every word. He just hides it behind some laughs. It is terryfying seeing yourself laugh and thinking at the same time: "I wish this was all made up. But this is the tough reality on our planet."

EDIT: 9:15 I think that joke aged VERY well. He was sarcastic about him being a democrat at all. Back then most of germany saw him as a democrat, but Volker told everyone back then that he's not.
The point is that germany and other democracies refused to grant Snowden (and Assange, but thats another topic) asylum, although he did us (and yourself, NSA tapped every phone, mail, etc. in the US) a big favour by showing how we are being spied upon. Assange published proof of warcrimes committed by the US that they should want to look into. And Im no russian troll, but in that regard the US government is merely better than russia.

The thing with Schröder is, he was not just friends with Putin. He came under extreme fire for not wanting to step down from his post at a Russian energy company after Putin's attack on Ukraine, nor for clearly distancing himself from Putin. Because of that he lost most his staff in Germany and the honorary citizenship of his home city Hanover. Some members of the SPD also wanted to kick him out of the party, but so far that didn't happen.

The problem is not necessarily that the data is being collected. The problem is who is collecting the data for what purpose and who they share it with.
_Of course_ a mobile phone provider has to know your location to be able to provide mobile phone service to you. That does not mean they have to store your location data, in fact EU privacy laws forbid them to (except for roaming charges).
The EU also has standardised the way the police and military intelligence can store your location data instead. This can even be beneficial, for example if you get lost while mountaineering or something.
But the data is not to be shared with _foreign_ police or military. As Jacob Applebaum said, surveillance has a real impact on people, as in: with rockets.
Meanwhile, the NSA has the PRISM programme, in which the companies themselves store all the data forever in case the NSA ever needs it. And with Obama that not only became legal retroactively, it became mandatory.
Which violates EU law, of course.
Meanwhile, people want to decide for themselves what they share about themselves with who. (But that is actually impossible. While under EU law you have legal recourse to sue whoever violates your privacy, you first have to know that it happened, and even then the cat is out of the bag by that time, and as the saying goes: Removing information from the internet is like fishing piss out of the swimming pool.)

Schröder didn't had a vacation to amsterdam to inhale some smoke but a vacation in Moscow to inhale some gas which renders Germany dependent on Russia. Media and a lot of people over here are looking forward to a very cold winter. Newspages and TV is full of tips how to save on energy or how to survive a winter without heating and energy and stuff.

    • @davidwuhrer6704
      @davidwuhrer6704 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The irony is that the dependence was from before, from the Cold War, and it was intentional to reassure the Soviets that Germany would not invade them this time.
And that Gazprom is still delivering the gas that it is paid for to deliver. The reason the gas prices skyrocketed was that the companies that bought the gas speculated with it on the spot market, short selling it. (The idea is to sell expensive, then buy back cheap, betting on the price to be falling to make a quick million.) They scaremongered about Russia not delivering anymore to inflate the price, so that part worked, they sold expensive, but then the price _didn't_ go down because, guess what: French nuclear power plants has to be taken offline because of the unusually warm weather and the electricity is now being substituted from gas turbines.
So now "freezing for peace" is the slogan to get the price for gas to go down again.

We Germans dont have problems with Russians or Russia. We have Political and Economical issues with the USA,Britain and the EU. Thats the hard reality, we are still occupied no matter how many would deny it (which is, when denying the obvious, very stupid).
Russia never sanctioned Germany or its industry, the US, the British and its EU sanction Germany.
We have this problem since 1948 by the way. The catastrophe is that many (younger Generation) deny this Allied occupation over Germany. Thats partially a Generational conflict. They dont know what got us here, we do, but get shunned for it. Thats the catastrophe. And TH-cam plays the shunning-game as well.

    • @davidwuhrer6704
      @davidwuhrer6704 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Officially, West Germany is independent now, no longer occupied by the Allies. In part because it is reunified Germany now, not just West Germany. But mostly because the Allies that used to occupy Germany included Russia. (Although the Soviet Union had granted East Germany independence, which is how it became a separate country.)
That's why instead of being occupied by the Allies, all of Germany is now formally independent, subject to the 4+2 contract that gives the USA and the UK special privileges over Germany, like an occupation, but not formally an occupation because then Russia would get in on it, too.
The secret clauses are secret, but some are known anyway because German federal police caught a CIA agent doing CIA stuff, but then wasn't allowed to arrest him. That gave part of it away. The other thing is that politicians are officially ignorant about stuff that anyone can plainly see, stuff that would be illegal if anyone other than the Americans would be doing it.
It is not a matter of generations, it is a matter of "what can you do about it." Germany _used_ to be occupied, now it is colonised, like Cuba used to be. So what, the North Sea coast line will be in Bavaria before long, does it really matter _who_ is writing the laws and who is ignoring them?

Political Satire always goes after those who are currently in Power for the most part. And it doesn´t matter who that one is in particular or which party.....that´s why they go after Merkel so hard because she was at that time currently in power being head of the goverment/chancellor and being head of the at that time leading party in parliament. They also always go a bit after the Opposition parties and their leading figures as well but by far not that hard because they aren´t in power so what´s then the point to go after them that hard.

When he took office, he was a smart, agile man who looked a lot younger than he was. He was full of energy and promise, even if he promised not to do what people wanted him to do, but at least he was not Bush.
After two years, his hair was gray, he had visibly aged and now looked much older than he actually was. He had stopped making promises and never said anything that he wasn't told to say by a teleprompter.
He admitted to committing war crimes, added a few more to the list, in the end he turned out to have been even worse than Bush, and that is saying something.
Then he ran for a second term. And won because at least he wasn't Palin.
I'd believe that he didn't know at first, but by the time he prolonged Bush's Patriot act and had people shot with anti-tank rockets from Predator drones, he must have known. And he probably knew what would happen to his family if he tried to do anything about it. Maybe he was fine with it eiter way.
Then Trump took office, and he was not allowed to prolong the Patriot act, he _was_ allowed to keep his cell phone, he was even allowed to tweet under his own name by himself. (Obama had to go through the Secret Service to do his Reddit AMA.) And when he mentioned how he would turn North Korea into a glass parking lot, peace negotiations started. The fact that Trump had the hand on the proverbial red button scared the shit out of the very people who keep the JFK files classified for "national security" reasons.
Yes, Obama knew. But Merkel didn't. When Snowden leaked that everyone was under surveillance, she said it's no big deal. Until she realised that "everyone" meant everyone, _including herself._ Then it was an outrage!
And German military intelligence? They are the ones doing the spying. They are a subsidiary of the CIA. The CIA was _founded_ as an umbrella organisation for the old Nazi intelligence groups.

Some people say it is okay for the government to have that information, because they need it to operate and serve the people, but private companies shouldn't have it because they sell ads and try to mind-control their consumers.
Others say that it is okay for companies to have it because this way they can show only relevant ads and better understand consumer needs and better serve their customers, but the government shouldn't have it because they use it to try and control everyone's behaviour and to wage war.
What both groups ignore is that if either of those has it, so has the other, and vice versa.

Schroeder had not vacation to Amsterdam, he had a job after his political carrer - he joined Gazprom. A Russian state controlled energy supply company.
Merkel was in the CDU. The CDU is a more conservative party than the SPD. In the past, most of the time it was just about those two parties. CDU with little partner like the FDP or the SPD with the FDP or the Green Party. The time of the great coalition came and nearly shredded the SPD. And the CDU/CSU had some special persons in their ranks with highly doubtful expressions about leading culture etc. And the so called Hartz IV reforms were much to the taste of those parties of that time - even when they were installed by Schroeder' SPD. The SPD did not make many friends with this
