    Hi Dan,love your videos.
    Now here's a question for you.
    Where and how do you locate exactly where in the CH system be it piping/radiators or the boiler itself ( heat Exchangers is lthe source of the leak?
    If you have to constantly re-pressurise, ie once a week say?
    I watched a video by Skill Builder, and his solution was to add something smelly into the system, and if you smelt it , that was the area to further nvestigate, ie add TCP for example.
    I would imagine that in reality trying to find an actual leak is very hard indeed ( ie masses of pipework underneath floorboards , in older houses is a Rat's nest for down stairs like mine is ) unless you can use a method that really aids your prognosis?
    Have you ever come across this issue, and used the same suggested method of detection?

    • @Heatking
      @Heatking  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Mike! And yeh I’ve come across this situation, unfortunately it’s a hard one. Look for the leak on the easy options first, accessible pipework,radiators and valves, boiler etc,
      But if it’s under the floor yeh then it’s hard, if there’s no way of getting under the floor, then I’ve added ct1 leak sealer before, it’s like rad weld for cars. But apparently does no damage to the boiler etc.

    • @mikeliv8827
      @mikeliv8827 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dan for your reply. Yes Rad weld ,know of that stuff from when I first started working on my cars back in the 1970's no less. Sometimes it worked if you were lucky.
      Other tricks I read about was putting a raw egg or two in the radiator.
      Anyway am sure ct1 is far better these days, as long as it doesn't clog up the heat exchangers?
      Main thing , nothing worse than having to crawl under the floorboards with a torch looking at piping joints for sign of a leak, must be an absolute nightmare!

    • @Heatking
      @Heatking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikeliv8827 apparently it doesn’t clog up no, but I’m sure time will tell! I’ve heard the egg trick in a car radiator hahah wonder if it ever worked haha

    Those ideal diverters are daft, need to remove the block really to get the back bit out, be carful what inhibitor you use also I was using city plumbing own brand for a while, started testing when the the regs changed and we had to start testing for inhibitor and it wouldn’t pick it up on the Adey pro check, literally 12 months after installs.

    • @Heatking
      @Heatking  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh inhibitor needs to have molybdates in it or something. A lot doesn’t have it. Bit of a pain really.

    • @gunsey876
      @gunsey876 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Apparently the scale master I-test picks up the different types of inhibitors, don’t know if it’s any good, entity do a 250ml concentrate now, ideal for the ADEY micro 👌

  • @darrenphillips5874
    @darrenphillips5874 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those testing strips are not to be trusted, I’ve used them before and then a water testing company tested the heating system I was working on and there results were way off mine , the system needed more inhibitor added, so I always add inhibitor even if the strip says it’s ok
