  • Day 2 at MADEX 2023, the international maritime defense exhibition. In this video we focus on the topic of submarines, specifically the KSS III Batch 2 large conventional submarine of the ROK Navy. We also discuss with Hanwha Ocean, HHI and Babcock a key topic at MADEX this year: the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP). Last but not least we take a look at the Li-ion battery system of the KSS submarine with Hanwha Aerospace.
    =====================
    00:54 - Hanwha Ocean's role in the KSS III Batch 2 submarine
    01:50 - Export of Hanwha Ocean's submarines to Canada, Indonesia and the Philippines
    03:09 - HHI's expertise in Submarine construction
    03:59 - Export of HHI submarine to Canada
    04:34 - Babcock signing MoU with Korean industry for Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP)
    06:47 - Hanwha Aerospace's Li-Ion battery technology for KSS-III Batch 2
    08:21 - Export of battery technology to Canada and the Netherlands
    09:11- Li-Ion batteries for commercial ships

I don't fully understand the specs we need, but having the capability to go under the arctic ice is one of them. Despite great gains in efficiency, non-nuke boats will always have limitations...all especially apparent in a real shooting war. The use of subs in new roles means that nuke power Attack subs can range far offshore really pushing the screws or act as relentless, on-station, home water defenders. SSNs are expensive to build and operate but for Pacific countries with long coastlines...cough: Canada, Japan, S Korea and Taiwan....rangier and much faster Nuke boats offer hip pocket or long distance power projection...all in one package. A Pragmatic and beneficial program would have been for Canada to have joined the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine program. • @johnmartin6420
      @johnmartin6420 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @ferleychery7540 the dept of Defense and the U.K ministry of defence, since the early 1970s recommend to the Department of National Defence Of Canada, look into acquiring SSN'S. The Ozzies, after looking at the pros and cons , decided to go nuke. If Canada due to social matters decided to go SSK, the best option would be the proven Japanese Sōryū-class submarines (16SS) or its successor the Taigei-class submarines (29SS). The Japanese after all have been building Lithium-Ion SSK'S since 2005, and have a proven record of performance. But with its vast artic coast lines, a buy into the AUKUS program is both economical and pragmatic.

      Saab's Stirling engine is a low-acoustic engine that burns a mixture of liquified oxygen and diesel, which can also be used to power the onboard diesel engines.0 The engine is well-suited for submarines because it is nearly silent and can use the surrounding sea water as a heat sink to increase efficiency. The Gotland-class submarine is powered by two sets of MTU engines on the water surface, while submerged, the Kockums-built Stirling engine AIP system is used to drive a 75-kilowatt generator for either propulsion or charging the batteries.2 The submerged endurance is dependent on the amount of liquid oxygen stored on-board and is described as "weeks". The Kockums A26, currently in development, will incorporate the latest and most modern and refined Stirling AIP technology-MK 5 version. The engine operates at a pressure of 20 bars, which limits the submarine's depth to 200m, unless a power-consuming and potentially noisy exhaust gas intensifier is used.

    First, let's build a submarine that can "operate properly". "How many submarines out of the 6 KSS-IIs have been fully operationalized?" Has the “cause” of the submarine accident of the Indonesian Han Army been clarified? You signed a contract for 6 ships, but it was canceled after 3 ships, right?
    When will KSS-III Batch-I's "Dosan Anchanho" be "commissioned"? It's been about a year since the ship went into service, but I haven't heard anything. It will really care. KSS--III Batch-II Power Source Lithium Ion Battery - Really OK? If you "breathe fire" while diving, why don't you "ignite" your proud "ICBM" or a "vertical launch missile" that you don't know what it is? I don't know which company's "battery" to use, but I think you should stop using the "pouch type".
    The lithium-ion battery used by JP's submarines is produced by the company on the right. Lithium-ion batteries for "GS Yuasa" have been researched and developed since the 1980s. As a result, it was recognized by NASA and installed on the ISS, winning its trust.The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) "Soryu" type was put into trial operation from Hall 11 and is now in full-scale operation as the "Taigei" type. Please develop a "submarine" that does not cause "annoyance" to other countries with 100% original technology and "sell" it.
    まず“まともに運行できる”潜水艦を作りましょう。KSS-Ⅱ6隻のうちまともに戦力化できている潜水艦は”何隻ですか”?インドネシア漢軍の潜水艦事故の”原因”は解明できましたか?6隻契約しましたが3隻で打ち切られましたよね何故?
    KSS-Ⅲバッチ-Ⅰの「トサンアンチャンホ」の”就役”は何時になるの?もう1年位就航から経ちましたが何の音沙汰がありません?すごく気になります。KSS--Ⅲバッチ-Ⅱの動力源のリチュウムイオンバッテリ-ホントに大丈夫?潜水中に”火を噴いたら”ご自慢の”ICBM”か何だかわからない”垂直発射ミサイル”に”引火”して大迷惑かけない?どこの会社の”バッテリ-”使うか分からないけど、”パウチ式”はやめた方がいいと思うよ。

The first and the second subs of KSS-lll have been commissioned and set a world's longest diving record of conventional subs, longer than 3 weeks. Korea is most advanced in building a conventional sub, it's the only one that built a conventional sub with AIP, Lithium-ion battery and SLBM. The battery technology of Korea is more advanced than that of Japan just like battery for electric vehicles. Moreover Korean subs are much more automated so that the KSS-lll class sub requires only 50 crew while the Japanese Soryu and Thai Gay class sub requires 70~80 crew. It is well known that the Japanese subs are made with low-quality steel produced by the Kobe steel who ever cheated its quality data.

      Japan hasn't exported any submarines, so you should just keep your mouth shut if you don't know anything. Take that as punishment for being the aggressor class nations during WWII.
