Every single member/instrument really SHINES on that song. guitars, drums, percussion, bass, samples, turntables, and vocals. This song is the perfect demonstration of slipknot. I was fairly late to this album after checking out S/T and Iowa, but even if I haven’t listened to the whole album, WANYK is shaping up to be an incredible experience. I love the emphasis on atmosphere, and they still have that intensity they had in the old days, and that’s shown off in Critical Darling, Solway Firth, and of course this song.

Great use of shock contrast. The video uses predominantly single-person shots, lots of distorted close ups, through the first 3 minutes, and it builds with the song in increasing blurriness and slowly adding strobing. overall lots of smooth disorienting camera movement... then 3:19 and they lock the camera, go to stark white staging, perfectly clear focus with the emphasis of movement on the entire group in unison. It's a visual contrast that just fucking kicks, and speaks to efficacy of editing and lighting. Helps that the song is equally pummeling.
I was just reading the lyrics and realised that during that part while Corey does the main vocals. The rest of them are shouting words at the start of each sentence, and these words end up making up the sentence (WHY DID I NOT SEE YOUR TRUE FACE UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE). That just screams genius in songwriting.
Probably by far one of my favorite songs on the album! I definitely consider this song to be in the top 5 of my most favorite slipknot songs but the OG slipknot from 1999-2001 era takes the win because we all cannot forget the rise of slipknot during that era

I was fairly late to this album after checking out S/T and Iowa, but even if I haven’t listened to the whole album, WANYK is shaping up to be an incredible experience. I love the emphasis on atmosphere, and they still have that intensity they had in the old days, and that’s shown off in Critical Darling, Solway Firth, and of course this song.

Great use of shock contrast. The video uses predominantly single-person shots, lots of distorted close ups, through the first 3 minutes, and it builds with the song in increasing blurriness and slowly adding strobing. overall lots of smooth disorienting camera movement... then 3:19 and they lock the camera, go to stark white staging, perfectly clear focus with the emphasis of movement on the entire group in unison. It's a visual contrast that just fucking kicks, and speaks to efficacy of editing and lighting. Helps that the song is equally pummeling.
