The best thing about this house is the beautiful forest surrounds and cascading waterfall. The house itself is too horizontal, blocky, and in my opinion lacks beauty of form. Concrete is a harsh building material and does not occur in nature. The house is all bare square imposing jutting invasive brutal shapes. I find nothing about this house to fall in love with or inspire me to live in it. Egoistic non human ivory tower architecture.
I respectfully disagree. Fallingwater was designed from the outset purely as a weekend retreat, not a home. I wouldn't want to live there year-round myself. Especially during the winter.
@@MitchWild-kx1tx I agree the setting is stunning and anyone would enjoy being in that place for a weekend. If however you are describing the house as stunning... I am afraid I cannot see it. I unfortunately find it ugly and out of place. Like most modern architecture the minimalism and the brutalism are very unattractive to me. It kind of looks like some sort of factory spilling its waste water down the falls or a small office block.
@@settledmind1071 I get that actually. FLW drew up the plans in two hours! I still think it is rather special for many reasons, but I do see where you are coming from.
We were there in the summer of 23. What a fun time. Just so interesting and impressive.

@@MitchWild-kx1tx You have proven my point. Egoistic non human ivory tower architecture not intended to be lived in.
@@settledmind1071 Fine for a weekend in nature. My main issue is the lack of privacy. Stil a stunning place.
