I was at the final game at County Stadium for the Brewers. Very cool ceremony there, too. They brought out a lot of the surviving Milwaukee Braves, Brewers, and a handful of Green Bay Packers that had played games there. Uecker gave an amazing tribute speech at the end. It's always cool to experience baseball history like that.
Thanks for documenting the final day of the ballpark I've been going to for the past 20 years. So many memories. It's time to make some new ones at the new stadium!
This was a great video as always, Zack! Glad you got to be there for the final game and the final series and soak it all in. Never got to make it to Globe Life Park, but it seems like it was a great MLB ballpark to go to and catch balls (and be at in general). The videos you did at this ballpark will just bring back the great memories you had there, so it's great that you have video documentation of your experiences to watch for years to come.
I was there for opening day 1994. I was 15 years old. After watching games in old Arlington Stadium (a AAA park), I thought the Ballpark in Arlington was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. Now, at the age of 40, I still think it’s beautiful, but I’d be lying if I said that the heat hasn’t kept me from going to games. As much as I’ll miss the beauty of the ballpark, I will definitely be looking forward to the AC.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with what I still think of as "The Ballpark" in Arlington. It's just a huge waste of money to build another stadium next door.
The true reason lies in ownership. One of the owners wanted a new stadium, and Dallas put in a bid, which forced Arlington’s hand. I will let you know that it was NOT Bob Simpson who was responsible
Zack you are a huge inspiration! Thank you so much for taking the time to connect and interact with your fans in the comments. Not many big TH-camrs do that. Keep it up!
My dad and I went to see a game there in the Inaugural Season in 1994 and my mom and I saw a game there this summer. I felt so lucky to have both experiences. I can't wait to see the new digs
I still remember that game for years. In the summer of 2014 me and my mom went to our first major league game in global Life Park. To see the Yankees play against the rangers. That's saying year Derek was retiring that Season . So we went to see his last game in Arlington. I still got my tickets and my baseball from that game . I'll never forget that.
I was at this game!! @6:40 you can see me just above the center panel of the bullpen fencing, with the white and black hat, sunglasses, looking pretty much at the camera. Was an awesome time at this game and something I will never forget.
(Astros fan here) I attended this game however because I wanted to see the last game as I have many memories here. I recently went to Globe Life Field for a Rangers Red Sox game and the feeling just isn’t the same. I miss this park mannnn
Globelife Park was a beautiful place but man those summer games were hard to sit through. I went to a few games 2 seasons ago and it was over 100 degrees outside and around 140 degrees field level where we were sitting. Also of course Dallas summers bring insane thunderstorms. Having an enclosed field is going to be great for the fans though I will miss the old stadium it was beautiful.
Thanks for making this video zack. I have a lot of memories at globe Life Park rooting for the rangers, thanks for making this awesome video!!! Go rangers
5:14 that's awesome. They're playing Nancy Bea Heffley's version of "It's a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame." I grew up listening to Nancy on the Dodger Stadium organ, and hers will always be the true sound of a ballpark to me. I know that the one they're playing here is particularly hers because she released an album of sorts and I listen to that song all the time. I have a tremendous amount of love and respect for Nancy Bea - she's the reason why I learned to play the piano (though I was never any good so I switched to drums). I enjoy Deiter Rhoule's energy that he brings to Dodger games with his own style, but the classic music that Nancy played will always be the best. I thank Globe Life Park for honoring her tradition.
For everyone who’s wondering why they’re getting a new stadium It’s because They’ve gotten many complaints from fans that it’s too hot and they have to sit in the heat to watch a baseball game. So they came up with a plan to build an air conditioned stadium with a retractable roof and they gave the fans an option on if they wanted a new stadium or if they want the same one and majority of fans picked new stadium. Plus it’s hot as sh*t in Texas, it’s near the hundreds every day in Texas during summer.
This wasn’t the main reason. The main reason was the Rangers said they would stay in the Stadium for a certain amount of years and those year were almost up. The city of Arlington did not want to lose the Rangers to a city like Dallas or maybe a different state so they offered them a new stadium. The voting was for the fans and that basically confirmed the new stadium but the main reason was to keep the Rangers in Arlington for attests another 25+ years.
To me, it will always be The Ballpark in Arlington. The Rangers have IMO always had the best public address announcer in all of sports. Chuck Morgan. Man’s voice gives me nostalgic chills
"One of the very best baseball stadiums in America." Built in 1994 with a classic brick design, I went to this stadium 4 times back in 2007. We kept saying, "what a beautiful NEW baseball park." Now, a few short years later, it's being replaced? And by an Ugly airplane hanger thing??
Ugh I miss that ballpark so much. Grew up going to there and my grandpa had access to a suit and I grew up going in the suit. So many great games I saw there. 2011 ALCS Game 6. I saw the Odor Baustista fight. And was ONE GAME away from seeing Beltres 3000 hit. Love that stadium
I remember being at this game, good times. Also managed get a homerun ball earlier in the year while the Royals were here. Jorge Soler off the left foul pole.
I remember attending a game at the Rangers Stadium before this one opened in 87. Sat third base side and saw Tommy John warming up in the bullpen. Good to see a lot of Rangers alumni there! Not sure if they attended as well but would’ve liked to see Pete Incaviglia, Ruben Sierra, Nolan Ryan, Juan Gonzalez and Dean Palmer. Great video Zack!
Also, Zack it was awesome to see you in person being so polite with the fans who kept hammering you every single day. I didn’t wanna bother you anymore so I just took a selfie when you weren’t looking 😂. I grew up going to GLP and I was able to get several balls through out my time there during batting practice and it was always my dream to catch an in game homer on the grass. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. I came down from Wisconsin to say good bye for the final series. I would also like to share with you a story from the park that was published in Boys Life Magazine (Boy Scouts) from when my brother was hit in the face by a Russell Branyan homer at GLP when he was playing for the Indians. The crazy thing is that my brother and Branyan are both from Warner Robbins GA. Russell actually gave us the signed bat at the next nights game. Zack Hample Yeah I was able to watch him a couple times again when I moved up here and he played for the Brewers. Kind of an underrated player throughout his career but fun to watch. 👍🏻
You know Zack, for all the home runs you've caught in all the different stadiums, to only have one stadium defeat you, that's a pretty amazing record all things considered.
They're turning that stadium into the home of the Dallas XFL team. I hope they plan on holding other events there the rest of the season because a handful of spring fooball games won't be enought to justify an entire stadium.
If you were at the Braves game last night and if you were a Braves fan like I was, I would have wanted a full refund. 12 POINT LOSS. GLP will be missed. Great vid Zack. ⚾️👍🏼
Man, I still wish I went to this game, I was bout to buy a ticket but then my truck had a blow out and I had to buy some tires, but that's life I guess haha
And Fenway and Wrigley are still standing and are by far the best ballparks in the league. Maybe not for legroom, or bathroom lines or concession options, but for fan experience.

David Burrow true
Players have said before texas is to hot to play 82 games in so having it indoor will attract more free agents and people wanting to play for them
The true reason lies in ownership. One of the owners wanted a new stadium, and Dallas put in a bid, which forced Arlington’s hand. I will let you know that it was NOT Bob Simpson who was responsible
I kind of wish they just built some kind of roof lol. The old Rangers stadium was my favorite!
@@matthewperez555 i agree you’d think that when they built it back in ‘94 they would’ve known that the Texas weather can be too unpredictable.
