When you get to the bottom of the wall flip the gun upside down (angled slightly upward) and work the lever with your thumb. When painting over drop cloths this trick also keeps your drops from lifting.
One company I worked for we would brush, and roll the bottom 2 siding boards to save on masking. It saves on moving runners too. I liked working for him because he would have someone move the ladders for me. He's retired now, but I still help him out. He wants me to paint his house this summer. I enjoy painting when I have a good boss. I worked for some people who where not very nice. 2 of them were just starting out, and I've been painting for over 35 years! One of them called my last summer wanting me to come back, but he is what I call a PUNK! LOL
You never leave water in your unit that rusts and corrodes, when storing the sprayer use either pump armor, windshield washer fluid, or mineral spirits
You seem like an expert. Wondering how long it takes to get good enough. Ive worked for 2 contractors both of which did their own spraying. Seems the only way to get experience is to buy or rent one. Would one or two days of use with various tips and pressures get me enough experience to offer the service?
@@gianthills Just get one and start using it. Sink or swim. Experience is the teacher. Offer to work free if you have to for experience. I worked free for a day to learn basics. Cleaning up and spraying. 23 years ago. I leave water in for up to a month no problems. Even longer. Been doing that 23 years. Since I bought my first 395. Rebuilt my own Gracos every time. Nobody else ever worked on mine.

You can leave it with water. Just don't leave it for a year
