It's a shame nobody at Scripps could fashion a business model that would have allowed the publication to continue as an electronic one. That's the wave of the future and there's no escaping it.
From a newspaper history perspective it was a shame the owners didn’t allow publication of 54 more issues to reach its 150th anniversary issue. Newspapers always did their best work when there was a competitor
Two newspaper s in the same markets does not work anymore. Seems it too many times over the years. Dallas, Ft.Worth, Houston, Tampa, Cincinnati, Columbus. Sad end to what can be considered great journalism. Lawyers and hedge funds took over.
Yes fast forward to today and Alden Global Capital is strangling The Denver Post and other metro dailies dry. And there are some no-newspaper towns out there now. That’s a nightmare.
if those people were smart, they'd have been taking night courses in accounting or truck driving or getting jobs in the medical or fracking industries.
@@googleinc6033 besides the fact that truck driving is another occupation going the way of the dinosaur real soon, i haven't heard a single truck driver be able to go to school full time, maaaaaybe part time, but on average local truck drivers usally work anywhere from 10-14hrs a day and many have 6 day work weeks.
I Was around Denver the day the Last press went out .I had the Last press paper and I Was keeping it Safe Well I Thought until 3-13-19 Flood Hit Here in St-Ed,Ne .I am Bumbed out.

The end leaves you hanging. "What are the workers doing now" would have been nice at the end. Good doc though.
