Yayyyy! I really really needed to hear your words of wisdom because there’s been a dip here too! Upon watching your Last video I cleaned out two cupboards and organized them, and threw away so much, and did the same for our double utensils drawer! It was a dream to look at these parts of our kitchen this week after my work. I reluctantly threw away “extra’s” like you said and I’m gearing up to do my kids rooms and donate massive amounts to less fortunate kids who don’t have many toys! I HAVE to break free from saving SO many baby clothes of each kids’! With your extra inspiration! All- watch Laura’s videos over and over, they are life changing! You most certainly were called from God to do this work for many at home suffering in clutter and stagnant times during depression where we all don’t have energy to do so! You are all worth it, and you are amazing! Have a great day!☀️

Kathryn you are such a beautiful person and soul and I appreciate you so much! I am so proud of you for all that you have accomplished in your home recently. I know it's not easy to actually do it but it does feel amazing when it is done! Amazing progress! Keep going! I will return with more Messy to Minimal the week after the fourth of July! Thanks again for all of your love and support my friend! xo Stay Mighty and God bless! Love you! 💪🏻🙏🏼🦋🤍

I understand, I'm gearing up to take control back of my own stuff. I've been guilt-tripping and shaming myself and it's only overwhelmed me that much more. I think we really need to allow ourselves some self compassion. I heard someone say once "it's not mess, it's sadness" and that is so spot on, for me it's the grief (of losing my Mom) I don't show when I'm outside the house. I'm slowly learning to show myself kindness and do little things here and there to make it better, some days I'll spend 20 mins decluttering and cleaning, other days I'll spend 3 hours, but every bit of progress (even tiny) is a victory and makes me feel lighter knowing it's one less thing to do. People who judge do not know nor understand depression/anxiety. No matter how ashamed it can make you feel, just remember you are doing the best you can and it's ok if your best is just getting out of bed and taking a shower that day ❤️

It’s hard to find the will to clean a house when you feel like you have no hope. I totally get it. Thank you for making this point. Makes total sense. It’s hard to find the will to do a lot of things when you have no hope. Sometimes sleeping is all you want to do. Even showering is a chore.

    • @lauraclark92
      @lauraclark92 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

I'm like this too. One bit of advice I heard and am trying to follow is this and this is helping me so much! Give yourself permission to do things badly or not completely all the time. Because doing it "badly" is much better than not doing anything at all! What I mean is if you wait for the perfect time and the perfect amount of time, you're in the best mood, you feel great, you have all the "right" tools... etc it's not ever going to happen, it stops you, it is paralyzing!! Give yourself permission to work on something for 10 minutes or 20 minutes or even 5 minutes if that's the time you have and you don't have to do whatever it is perfectly! I've been doing this and I've made lots of progress. I'm not well physically, I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted and I am a procrastinater and a perfectionist. But I've decided that I am going to get the things done I need to NOW. So I'm just trying my best to work on things every day and being consistent. I will get there. I'm still interested in what helps others, that's why I'm here. I thought I would share this so I hope it helps someone else like it is helping me.

My father just died two weeks ago and I’m having such a hard time getting out of bed cleaning the house. Going through his clothing and his stuff is debilitating. And on top of that trying to keep the house clean and cooking for a husband is mine blowing. When all I wanna do is go back to bed and cry because I have a big hole in my heart for my dad. I find this video very uplifting knowing that I’m not alone. Thank you for this video. I think living with depression and anxiety is so debilitating that people don’t understand how hard we have it. One day we’re good and then the next couple days we’re in bed and we’re not good and the house falls apart. It’s so frustrating. And then add a death in between that it’s so hard. Thank you for your video I’m going to try to tackle the downstairs after I Watch your video❤️🌻🙏

Hi Parker! I am so sorry for your loss. Losing our people just never gets easier but having experience with death at an esrly age has taught me that we are stro ger then we know and it is up to ourselves to keep going and living our life like our loved ones would want us too. Think of how your husband would feel if he knew you were not wanting to live life because of him. He is probably screaming down to you rn saying get up Parker! Take a shower and clean our home!! ♡🤣 This is what I think of when I am sad about my loved ones who pass on. We must live on and honor their memory by living a functiional life that they were not able to. We are so fortunate to still be here and while I dont know the loss of a husband I do know the pain of losing soneone very close to me and it forever changes things and it will always hurt. Still, we must press on and try our very best to hold onto the small sliver of happiness and let it be oir guide each day to keep moving and growing. Parker I am so sorry for your loss and pain. I want you to know that you are worthy of a happy life and you deserve to keep thriving in this life even without your husband. If you have children you can focus more time on their life to help distract you from the pain and keep you motivated so you are not falling deeper into depression. You must pull yourself out now before things get worst. You can do this! You are strong. God will see you through this challenge in life as he has all others. I will pray for you everyday with my morning devotional. Please know you have what it takes right inside of you to move forward and be happy again. You have this beautiful life to liv and your husband would want you to keep moving and live happy. Stay Mighty & God bless.💪🙏🤎🦋

I agree, it isn’t always easy , particularly in the evening. If I clean as I go while making dinner then after dinner cleanup isn’t so daunting. It’s less depressing to wake up to a kitchen that’s sorted out. The other habit I got into was making my bed when I wake up. There’s something calming about getting into a made bed at night, especially if it’s been a bad day. Now if I can only figure out what to do with the rest of the house.

Doing dishes every day and also racing a 5 minute timer once a day to just pick up the house can also be very powerful. See videos and books by Dana K. White for her "container concept" which is a really simple way to declutter without pulling everything out of a space and making a bigger mess. I think that making doing the dishes daily as non-negotiable helped me stay out of the deep valleys of depression. It was something that made things better, and at the time that was enough. God bless you!

Hi Gayle! Yes you are right about everything. I have mentioned this in this video that if only I can fight through the depression on the days when there are only a few dishes in the sink instead of putting it off until it's an overwhelming mess like today! I am working on this. I typically do this everyday but then that energy dip happens out of the blue. Depression has a way of messing up one's life. Literally! And thank you for that recommendation. I will check it out soon. I would love to declutter without making a mess. Thanks so much for being here! Stay Mighty!💪🏻🙏🏼🦋🤍

I have finally gotten to the point where I do dishes most days. Doing a major kitchen to clutter was key. We start to run out of bowls or plates at a certain point and that triggers me to do the dishes. We probably could only go two days without having to wash bowls and plates. I also do all her dishes by hand and have a small dish strainer so it kind of makes me want to do them every day because I want them to fit in the dish strainer. I’ve never had a dishwasher as an adult but I imagine it would almost be like a place to hide things. Handwashing has really helped the dishes not pile up so big.

And I and my sister wanted to clean up things but my mom didn't let us declutter anything...and I was also in depression for almost 3 yrs before last year... So when I became a little motivated by watching organization videos I started decluttering little by little and without telling my mom, she didn't even miss or ask about any of the things I decluttered... And I have been decluttering and cleaning since.. And yes I too have those dips when I have very little energy but I try to get back to organizing because of these kind of videos... ❤❤❤

Thank you for posting these videos! I’m a newer subscriber and it’s been so nice watching someone who gets it. Anxiety can be so isolating, even with having great friends and family around. And I’ve found that people can only empathize so much in regards to other people’s mental illnesses. Some people just want to know when you’ll “get better.” Or others may not understand why you can’t get out of bed or shower or even stomach solid foods. So thank you for shining light on this!

Because "woman's work" keeps everyone else healthy enough to complain about it lol. I came across something in a fiction book years ago that mentioned sewing and how without women doing it, the world of men would be quite naked lol. As for kitchen work, everyone else would be hungrier and sicker if it wasn't done. That makes a lot of people who don't do it uncomfortable, so they complain instead. It's a psychological thing, I think. Sweet lemons, sour grapes? I'm probably wrong on that.
Edit: tossed a few more thoughts in.

New subscriber here. I finally found a motivational “clean with me” type channel where the host/hostess actually understands where some of us are coming from. Love it! Wonderful video and motivation! Your “before” is so much like my “normal”, lol!
My only suggestion is for your video production. Because you have such a soft pleasant voice over, you might want to turn your music segments down a bit. It might just be my TV that does it, but I adjust the sound for when you talk, and then when the music comes in, I need to turn it down quite a bit. Maybe some of your regulars can let me know if it’s just my TV’s audio that causes this.

Hello! And thank you so much for being here. Ya know I totally agree with you. I never noticed this until I play my video on my tv after reading your comment. I will definitely change that. It is completely different from my pbone to my tv. Its also totally different when editing so I will try my best to make it mor balanced. Thank you for your honest feedback. I appreciate it and welcome to fhe journey! So happy to have you here! Stay Mighty!♡

I’ve noticed on a lot of videos where it switches from talking to music a lot the music tends to be a lot louder when on the tv, however it’s even sounding while on my phone which is really odd. I don’t understand why it does that

@@LK-ir2pg - Yes, in fact I noticed this more often on a lot of the short movie channels here on TH-cam, like DUST sci-fi and Omeletto, but not as much on other regular channels. I’m guessing that phones handle sound layers differently and just “flatten” them out (for lack of a better word). The only easy remedy I’ve found so far is to use my phone as the speaker. My TV is on Roku, and iPhone has a Roku Remote Control app. On that remote control is a button that lets you quickly transfer the sound from your TV to the phone. So when I find myself watching one of those sound-challenged programs or movies, I use my phone remote. My phone usually sets near me anyway so it works well for this.

@@MightyMama - I found a solution on my remote control app that works to level it all out and I just carry it with me. It’s not ideal, because it sort of flattens out the rich tones of your music, but if I’m cleaning too, it keeps me from having to stop and run to the volume controls, lol.

I hear you so loud and clear! Once I get going I can’t stop or I just cant get motivated to move again. I’m a mama of a special needs adult son who has a compromised immune system and he has become a quadriplegic over the last 6 years. Today his nurse is here all day so I’m tackleing it all. Thank you so much as I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks. Yes I’m cleaning with you.

Thank you so much for a realistic, down to earth video. I don't have children but my depression and anxiety make it hard to maintain my home, and this genuinely helped motivate me to just pick anywhere to start when I was feeling overwhelmed. Thank you!
