Wow, great video. I traveled to Mumbai in Dec 2018, and remember seeing some of these streets. Amazing city! Beautiful old architecture in some parts of the city, palm trees, sea view, delicious food, cultural heritage, and very helpful people. Some suburbs need a thorough clean up, and educating people to not litter. Other than that, Mumbai sets itself apart from the rest of India as a very progressive city with a wonderful blend of old and modern. Sending love to Mumbai from the USA. With its current growth rate, many Indian cities will also rise to an international level while retaining their charm and ancient history. Take Delhi for example, its changed dramatically in the past few years and is a much cleaner, wealthier and more presentable city than it was at the beginning of the century, the same can be said about Bangalore (which in many ways is more impressive than Mumbai but suffers from chronic traffic problems). States such as Himalayan Sikkim and Kerala in the south are also very developed with their Human development indexes almost reaching that of developed nations. India will soon regain its lost ancient glory. 😊

Watched the whole video and was completely blown away! Its changed so rapidly! The footpaths, the roads, the removal of slum settlements! Wow! It looks first world but with so much character! Do you see Mumbai becoming a slum free city in the near future?
The problem of slums is a result of poor housing policies. The BMC has always tied up with premium builders to build houses for upper middle class and rich people. BMC should create a Mass Housing Company in Mumbai with Public and Private partnership to provide housing to lower middle class and poor people. That would remove slums in Mumbai.
Removing Dharavi is a challenge. The Kholis in Dharavi cost between Rs 70 lakh to Rs 90 lakh. However many residents of Dharavi are not willing to move out because they have jobs and established businesses in the region. Imagine a Grocery Shopkeeper in Dharavi who has a shop on ground floor and kholi on first floor even if you pay him Rs 1.3 crore to vacate Dharavi he will take you to court while getting NGO funding to fight the case.
Abhishek Narasimha True but its happening. A UAE based firm has been chosen to proceed with the project. They project that it could take almost a decade to completely redevelop dharavi though.

Unfortunately, I think that the slums problem is considerably difficult to eradicate. Mumbai, being the economic capital and land of opportunities, sees several people migrate to it. While some achieve success, others (a majority) are overwhelmed by the city and for them living becomes difficult. I wish some day everyone could prosper! Jai hind.
You know what I find interesting is that there are no double decker buses any more. In fact buses do not hog the street like they did in the sixties when I visited the city. In the fifties and the sixties they had tram cars. Don’t see them any longer. On my very recent visit I was amazed to the the traffic snarls at every juncture. Still an exciting city.

Delhi NCR is more developed than Mumbai. Mumbai simply has skyscrapers. That's all. Keep in mind that Greater Noida, Dholera, GIFT City, and Amaravati will be far more developed than Mumbai and Delhi in the future. Just wait and watch.
