Step 3: Watch as your creation gets destroyed by skeletron prime because you thought it was a good idea to build this in for the worthy. Step 4: cry Step 5: Repeat back to step one but make it in a different world and skip steps 3-5, making them obsolete, just like your build as it gets infected by corruption. And you can't buy an contaminator, so basically you have to start again. Step 6: You accidentally delete the world and lose everything oof stinks to be you.
This video also made me realize how paint isn’t just colors and custom biomes, it also allows you to change colors to certain textures and I love how it works like that 🎨 🖌
I know you said this wasn't intended to be a beginner's guide but this helped me more with the basics than any other beginner's build video I've seen yet! And now I can make my builds look nice too.

@@dashw Exactly, I made that comment to indicate the Struggle of People playing Terraria on Console, Because all of the Things in 1.4 doesnt exist there.
Step one: Deal with wooden/dirt/stone shoe box houses at the beginning until you get at least your respective evil's gear, and maybe the mining set for efficiencies sake. Step 2: Go on a resource gathering rampage, and compile every block you can. Step 3: Lay the blocks that interest you most in a 3x3 cube suspended in the air next to each other to compare, mix and match them to find ones that blend well. Step 4: look at your shoebox, no matter how high, or wide you've stacked it to put the NPCs in, and make it work. Take the external walls, and branch them out in all kinds of wacky shapes, and tie them all together with a decent roof, then, once the shape is acceptably unique, put the blocks you've chosen into the build by replacing the wooden walls, outer blocks, etcetera. Step 5: Understand that you're not making the Mona Lisa. Perfection is for nerds. Don't fall into the pit of "it's not good enough" because it'll make you stop building altogether. Step 6: Hit that grind, gamers. Do this process over and over in Journey mode so you have infinite resources to work with. Every step is a step forward towards your improvement. Step 7: You look very nice today, did you do something different with your look? It looks good on you. Have a good one, and go for broke!
Hi Khaios, I'm late to the Terraria party, just started playing a few months ago. (Yes, I was basically living under a rock for the last decade.) I just wanted to say that I deeply appreciate your skill, your demeanor, and that you share so much with your community. I hope you are not insulted by this, but I think of you as the Bob Ross of Terraria and I sometimes watch or rewatch videos just to relax. Thanks for being you.
@@YeyazWyrd it's a weird thing but there are a lot of artists I met who dislike Bob Ross for not being a "true" artist. Just trying to express my feelings with respect and admiration without offending anyone.
41:45 as soon as you added that white trim, it made the room look 3D. The floor looks like grey carpet, and the white trim looks like drywall ceiling, so it looks like you could walk "up" across the floor towards the glass doors, like whatever the Maniac Mansion perspective is called. Really cool technique.
This is a perfect video, i have finally built my medieval town, each NPC has their own house and it is themed accordingly for them, thanks Khaios very cool.
I really like to use wrought iron fences as windows in medieval builds, and also as a spike to top a curved roof. Another favorite is using rich mahogany/ ebonwood fence painted brown as support beams, but I think that large bamboo walls are a new favorite. Rich mahogany walls painted brown are also a great horizontal wood beam, and I really like using blue and green tiled walls painted brown. I use these interspersed randomly as a stone backwall, and they look great
Wicked tutorial man! Definitely opened my mind; I made an all glass “art gallery” to display every painting I find in the game. Thanks for the inspirational push!
This video has single handedly improved my building in Terraria. I've been able to create my own builds with stunning visual appeal and mixing and matching different materials to create truly unique structures. It's comforting and just feels better when you log in and see well furnished and built homes for all your NPCs in their preferred environments, and friends who visit don't want to leave.
I’ve been going back to terraria after playing for a few hundred hours. but this time on my play through i’m trying to add buildings to the world.. and man your videos are helpful. Thanks for making me get into building and thanks for helping me with it! Keep up work! Cuz i subed :)
23:30 actually, putting the dryad in a graveyard biome lets her sell seeds for the opposite world evil to yours. I love getting the worm scarf early in the game and then setting up an underground crimson later in the game for ichor in a corruption world
This is such a fantastic guide. For a pretty long time I was very unhappy with my Terraria builds because I felt like they were incredibly basic and boring. I eventually got better but after watching this video I never realized that I'm still lackluster in building homes. I would definitely like to see you making a build tips video for furniture and possibly one for natural (or unnatural) terrain.
My world looks like a multiplayer world after this video it’s insane, massive wooden box hotel with random chests everywhere right next to neat and tidy well decorated houses for single NPCs
Thank you, Khaios, for inspiring me to build. I have put over 1000+ hours in Terreria, and most of the time, I cannot be arsed to do more than make a wooden condominium for all of my NPCs at the start of the game. Now that the "happiness" mechanic has been introduced, I find myself actually having fun with my builds, inspired by watching your videos.
A couple of years ago, I didn’t know how to build proper houses in Terraria on the WiiU. Now, I’ve become quite good at building, and that’s all because of this gifted man. Thank you, Khaios, for teaching me. I owe you for showing me the ways of building.
Just a little tip: You can use fences as beams, just stack a fence on another and it'll pass through the block and look like a beam! Except it'll be thinner. Edit: Also, because it's a background item, you can place a beam over it, and it'll look like an extra layer, for more detail, you can place a full-beam over it, break a few, and it'll look like support for the beams!
You always manage to make me smile, my builds often start off as a great imagination, however as i slowly delve deeper into the build i start to lose passion, however when i watch you you really help me to push myself toward my goal, and you helped me to finish my NPC pylon network which took a few months to construct, i have been playing for years but im having the most fun since i discovered you
I remember like a year or 2 back I came to this video wanting to upgrade my houses as I couldn’t stand how bad it looks. Double layering the rooms is perfect for being able to change each room without it looking weird. Hammering blocks to change the looks also helps as I mainly struggle with the outside layers in order to make the place look good. It’s good to be able to learn these things as I have great imagination but I never know where to start so now I always build the shape first before finishing the inside details incase of any mistakes. Thanks for this video man. I really don’t wanna watch tutorials just to build something that isn’t even my own idea
Dayum! You're the man! Auto sub from me! I'ma go through alot of your vids now. Just recently got into Terraria so I'm trying to learn how to build cool stuff. I made a newbie level castle on one of my worlds after watching a tip video. However, after seeing even just half of this video I've got new knowledge and ideas to make some super cool stuff. I paused the vid like 1/3rd the way through and added those 3 blocks to the corners of the rooms and used the hammer on em and it instantly made my rooms 2x nicer looking. The tips you give in this video are top notch man! Kudos to you! You're the man! I don't see the need to look to anybody else for terraria-related content. Keep it up! 👍
You have definitely shown me the potential of what builders in this game can do, and watching your videos help me unlock that potential. Keep up the good work and videos, you are helping a lot of people with these.
I just returned on terraria after like a 7 month break, It is sad to see that even Khaios isn't uploading anymore. It was nice to have you around, buddy. You are my inspiration on building on terraria.
My friends and I continuously make new worlds to cooperate on, and we've completed the game many times. I am the worst builder of the bunch by far, but I've started trying to improve. Making houses on top of lakes, built into hills and such, little town decor, I'm always trying to make new things. This video really helped me get better, even though I might've started improving before watching this, it'll still help in the long run. Thank you!
My house actually has a guide killing system installed. It involves lava, actuators and yellow pressure plates on the left side and an unused, definitely maintained and supervised, totally safe, kill-box that definitely don't unleash a horde of zombies, among other hardmode terrors, in the very room the guide is in. (with the help of ""hoiked"" platforms against a wall) - Let's just say it's an experience knowing the guide, being the instrument of his own doom, may or may not unintentionally summon the wall of flesh in the random, unforeseen event he triggers the lava trap or an oopsie woopsie happens with the kill-box while a friend is busy in the underworld. ;D
I don't care if it's 40+ mins HAHAHAHAHA. Building tips is really helpful. I been watching all the build tips of yours and really good. It improves my building alot. Thank you so much for that. I hope this channel grows more and more to the future. Can't wait for the next building tips. I actually watched the WHOLE video without SKIPPING. HAHAHAHAH
For me the big impovement tip here is doing double layer wall and roofs, looks so simple to make modifications afterwards. So can start with all wood but replaceing it with a different floot due to the double layer it does not break the other "cells"
this video really helped me learn quite a few building tips, such as the bamboo strategy, letting me learn how important paint really is Infact, I used this video to build a cozy, winter shack embedded into a mountain, with snow on the top that also has trees
I love your tips, but one part of building that always scares me is paint. You should make a build tips on paint, talking about how they work and common uses to make blocks match. That would be so useful!
Omg I got anxiety at all the different choices and had to take a break. It’s like looking over Frank Lloyd Wright’s shoulder and saying, “Uh huh, I think I get it. Yup, I can totally do that.” When irl I am thinking, “What? And then we paint it too?” I can’t decorate irl but maybe this will teach me! Edit: okay, I came back. I stopped the video after a few minutes to tell my husband I wasn’t watching a home improvement show, that he shouldn’t get his hopes up irl. But now I see all the possibilities for a beautiful house. Most underrated tool in my box is the hammer. I’ve found out a lot more uses than just using it for homes, like you can cleverly change how blocks work to get into the pyramid without keys. Who knew? Also, you can make murder holes without letting the zombies/goblins in. I am going to rewatch your video because I put it in my nighttime watch list and fell asleep to your relaxing voice for some of it, sorry! But what a great video!
Khaios is Terraria’s architect... soon he’ll make a much better golem temple or dungeon or even floating islands... imagine the possibilities... also love these types of videos... keep up the great work ☺️
I have watched this video before but never tried to build something with the knowledge given in the video...until now. After watching this video I have made one out of many houses for the first time, where I really try to make it look nice. It was way better then I thought it would be. I know this video is old and this comment may not mean much but for the first time, I have made a really nice looking house, so thank you
Yeaa when i just start playing Terraria i was so confused when i see other build with different variations of blocks that i don't even know how to get or craft it , but the more and more i played it i finally know how to get it , but it really is confusing for new players since Terraria doesn't have creative mode like Minecraft
Hey man really loving the uploads lately, leaving a comment for youtube and cuz i just wanna say that you are one of my favourite youtubers! Keep it up!
So I finally finished watching this video and started building more better looking houses in Terraria. I've seen some others build houses, but nothing I could really keep up with. Your advice has helped a lot, I am still learning and want to keep improving. I play on the Switch version. Thank you.
He did with the leaf roof what bob ross does with his paintings man. looks like nothing interesting but suddenly transforms it into something that looks super well thought out, even if it wasn't
After watching this I was like, "Oh! I could make like specific styled houses for the NPCs to match the kind of stuff they do too!" Then I check your channel and see you already made that lmao xD
Pro tip. Use ebon wood walls for support beams and paint them brown. Normal support beams you cant place anything in front of or on. Ebon wood walls can
bro I'm only half way through this video and its already so good this man def deserves more than 300k he's so easy to understand and he makes sure of that and he doesn't over complicate things i truly wish the best for him and hope that he can make a career out of TH-cam bc it would fit him.
You can just use ebonstone, it does look more cracked and jagged IMO but it might go better for certain builds, of course you can just go and make a new world and get some crimson stuff but it depends on the type of person ( you can also use Demonite blocks but I think they look too far from being a stone-ish block IMO)
I’ve semi done these in my world. Using beam supports and foundations (usually not as fancy as yours though, I just put cobblestone under the floor) It’s really cool to see some more ways to improve my builds since I wasn’t focusing as much on looks. I just wanted to build a house at each biome and get the pylon placed ASAP before doing anything major but I’ve needed to go back and add more decor and truly upgrade my house and these tips will vastly improve it
I don’t know Khaios, it’s hard to improve on something that’s already perfect 🤷♀️

This tutorial in a nutshell:
Step 1 build a box house
Step 2 destroy it and build a house
Thask
That is my pfp on my alt account
Step 3: Watch as your creation gets destroyed by skeletron prime because you thought it was a good idea to build this in for the worthy. Step 4: cry Step 5: Repeat back to step one but make it in a different world and skip steps 3-5, making them obsolete, just like your build as it gets infected by corruption. And you can't buy an contaminator, so basically you have to start again.
Step 6: You accidentally delete the world and lose everything oof stinks to be you.

There's actually an added bonus to doing this; most humanoid enemies will walk away from a door instead of trying to bust it down if there is an overhang.

"here's your standard shoebox"
I feel so called out
Same
Step one: Deal with wooden/dirt/stone shoe box houses at the beginning until you get at least your respective evil's gear, and maybe the mining set for efficiencies sake.

41:45 as soon as you added that white trim, it made the room look 3D. Really cool technique.

The excitement I felt when I saw it was uploaded 37 seconds ago...
Edit: Also, because it's a background item, you can place a beam over it, and it'll look like an extra layer, for more detail, you can place a full-beam over it, break a few, and it'll look like support for the beams!
everyone has known that since the beginning almost kinda basic plus khaios already knows most terraria facts so :P

Thank you!
wow this is crazy! thank you so much for help khaios! i build too many boxes it needs to stop...
Needs more guide killing systems installed
Agreed
This is highly recommended
The guide must be punished
My house actually has a guide killing system installed.
It involves lava, actuators and yellow pressure plates on the left side and an unused, definitely maintained and supervised, totally safe, kill-box that definitely don't unleash a horde of zombies, among other hardmode terrors, in the very room the guide is in. (with the help of ""hoiked"" platforms against a wall)
-
Let's just say it's an experience knowing the guide, being the instrument of his own doom, may or may not unintentionally summon the wall of flesh in the random, unforeseen event he triggers the lava trap or an oopsie woopsie happens with the kill-box while a friend is busy in the underworld. ;D
this takes the phrase "then add some details" to a whole nother level
My lovely wooden boxes are going to look so much better! Thank you sir! 🙏
