"Argue the points, not the people" Yep, that should be put on billboards everywhere. I admit, as a German I'm having a hard time getting the idea of patriotism. I simply never felt this way. For some reason this song changed my mind about the idea of patriotism a bit. It isn't necessarily about nationalism and "We are better than everyone else". Patriotism as the desire to evolve to the best version of your country without feeling superior over others - that's something I can get behind. So thank you to Tim and Chris for writing this song and thank you, DJ, for talking about the lyrics. You helped me putting into words why this song grew on me.
Patriotism is ~ = feeling proud and love of where you are from and defending aspects of what makes your nation, home. Nationalism is the previous, but minus the defending part of it. Nationalism can be twisted to mean superiority, but usually it is not. Everyone is a nationalist(we get it by being born somewhere and growing up there), but not everyone defends their nationalism --> AKA Patriotism.
I love this song!! ❤ I'm not American, but I can say that this song says exactly what I feel about my own country, Peru 🇵🇪 I'm in love with my country, so the lyrics reaonate with me on a personal level. Great reaction!!
Timmy wrote a good one. Loved the Jeep! What’s not to like: hot dogs and hamburgers, doggies and horses, and Home Free and fireworks. So much fun! The boys looked hot too.
A bit of trivia: at 2 points in the video, there are a pair of dogs sitting by the lakeside. They’re what we (Americans) call Australian Shepherds. I don’t believe the breed originated in Australia, but that’s what they’re called. 😅
Chris Chatham is a frequent collaborator (you can see him in the videos "What's It to You", "My Maria" & others on Austin's channel). You don't have to be American (I'm Canadian) to appreciate the patriotism & sentiments of the song. Of course, the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are perfect & I love the video. I've seen a couple of videos of Home Free with Adam Bastien and I'm sure he's gonna fit right in (but I'm still gonna miss seeing Austin with them . . .).
Another song that is kinda patriotic for not only the Americans but also the British is (depending on which country you’re from) either ‘My Country tis of thee’ which has 3 different sets of lyrics to the same melody, one is for the USA, one had been used for more than 70 years and the third has only come back into use in the past two years, those being ‘god save the queen’ and ‘god save the king’
I'm Canadian and have to admit that even when I hear Home Free's beautiful version of My Country tis of Thee, I can still hear God save the Queen in the back of my mind. I'm not quite ready to accept God save the King.
LOL, 😆😆 I like that ! " Setting off explosion's with your voice, Mr. Tim". Get a load of that Jeep !!! I love it and I want to drive it !!!! Love Austin.s "Singggggg, and Ringggggg" He makes it really sound like ringing. This is one of my favorite songs and for that very reason of "Patriotism" . I totally agree with you, we ALL want this place to be the best place to be !!!!!!!
Tim's lyrics and music are so wonderful and conveying exactly what they intend to. This song is so patriotic it feels like I should be waving a flag myself...! Thank you for this one Carin, and for stepping up as an admin/ranger on the Herd.
Great reaction as always. A Tim & Chris original, it's very worth looking for the video of Tim singing this solo to see his version before the guys took it on and produced this banger.
It's my hope, and my belief, that the vast majority of people do want to live together in harmony and love. That is why we hear countless stories of acts of kindness, self-sacrifice and bravery among our fellows every day. This song celebrates the optimism and pride we can still feel for our country despite our differences. I thank Home Free for giving us this joyful reminder. Thank you for your insights about the goodness among people all over the world, and for your fun observations on the video and music. Gail L.
LOVE this Tim Foust original ❣️ And it is one of my favorite "ear worms" 😆 Whenever I hear it it replays in my head for the rest of the day ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ #HomeFree
I couldn’t agree with you more. Love love love your reactions to HF. They are all I listen too. They give me happiness and joy. They are truly the best a cappella IMHO. ❤❤❤
I’m American and I absolutely love this song! I love Tim’s version, too! It should be played on the radio around the 4th of July here! It’s an amazing patriotic song! So happy Home Free recorded it! If memory serves me correctly, I thought I saw Austin in a video somewhere saying he talked Tim into letting Home Free record it. I could be wrong, though. Love your reaction, DJ! It definitely is a bop, too!
I struggle hearing the baseline sometimes. Thank you for calling out that Chance bass. I have listened to this song maybe hundreds of times and have never heard it until now. Really cool.
I found this and I love the video of this song LAND OF THE FREE. Tim's low bass and Austin's high tenor. The harmonies are beautiful. I love Adam's beatboxing. I like your reactions on this song with Home Free. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Personally I'm not a fan of America. I have many many issues with America. But this video makes me feel great. If this video was what America was id move instantly. This gives a feeling of true freedom the American dream. This video feels like the land of the free. This is what America should be
I love your reactions of Home Free!!! Keep it up man!!! You’re the best reactor I have ever seen!!! You are so good!!! I can’t wait to see what Home Free reaction you will do next!!! ❤❤❤
When I was your age, DJ, I also thought we all had the same objective, but different ideas how to get there. I have now been around long enough to know that this is not the case. The quicker you figure out the real objective or agenda, and the steps that each side is willing to take to get there, the better off you'll be. It also pays to bear in mind that some people think evil is just a competing ideology. (Climbing down off my soapbox now...)
I'm from the USA 🇺🇸 and I wish everyone would feel the emotion in this song and would follow the lesson it delivers❤❤❤
In my humble mind HOMEFREE IS GREAT !!!! Let's vote !!!

You mentioned the high note Austin hit when the fireworks were going off behind them, and I thought “Oh, you haven’t heard high yet!”

Chris also plays the guitar in "So Long, Dixie".
Adam the 3rd may fit in, but he can never replace Austin!
Great reaction. I was cracking up laughing when you brought up Austin in the sexy calendar. 😂😂
Tim and Chatham wrote a really great song. Love the lyrics! Adam sleeveless was a treat too.

I'm sure going to miss Austins spirit, enthusiasm, dance moves, and those beautiful high notes.
