I met George Lakoff back in 1993 I think… I was heavily involved in metaphors and had been for a long time… 😊❤ I was in behavioral neuroscience at Emory University at the time. I wrote a comprehensive exam using a diagram for metaphors where “base metaphors” were in the brain and could be traced back into the brain. Then later George Lakoff wrote all about that. We talked about it a bit at Emory when we met. 😊❤
Now fast forward to now and my second book is “Eye of God: Language of Universal Mind” where metaphor is the foundation of reality. ❤ LOVE George and his work!!!! THANK YOU 🙏🏻 ❤ We can understand things outside the universe by metaphor. That’s our vehicle into black holes too. To understanding everything. We ARE living metaphors of larger things. Everything is. EVERYTHING. ❤

Very wonderful and important ideas! I gained a deep knowledge of metaphor, understanding and using it. I will definitely use these ideas in my research work. I like your interview. Thank you very much!

Brilliant and inspiring convo! It would be fascinating to hear more about what you think about Paul Bloom’s ideas about empathy (Specifically, his book, “Against Empathy,”….)…

Such a humble and adorable man... thanks alot for your great book, it helped me so much for my art philosophy master paper. I also chose metaphor as a subject for my research paper.

Empathy is a phony liberal shibboleth that means, I'm going to take pity on you, and feel your pain.... but I'm not going to help you. So it's an evil word, and an evil concept. It's a way to take credit for being a moral person, and then do no actual good work or help at all. Bill Clinton made it famous with 'I fee your pain'. And then proceeded to sell out working people everywhere. And we got empathy instead. So to all liberals, stop invoking the word, it only makes you look like monsters.
But George Lakoff is still cool....

It is about how metaphors help us make sense of the world and offer mental models for life.

The point? Prior to MWLB, metaphor was thought to be a mere trope of language having little to do with rationality. Now it is understood to be crucial to how language works and how we think. MWLB changed the linguistic world.
