I'm one of the few people that really enjoy fighting a good snake player. It's like playing a little minigame to get in during neutral and recover. This adds even more depth to the deep edgeguard flow chart that snake already possesses. Excited to see this in action!
Kind of feel the same way but vs samus
Fellow snake main here. My usual setup for the ledgetrapping is to leave two grenades at the ledge then try to catch their roll with down smash or a mortar. This seems like a very easy mixup to throw in to gimp certain matchups.
Damn, this is actually Lucas recovery counterplay. This makes offstage a bit scarier, damn.

Just between us Snake players, we should keep this tech on the low-profile so as to not catch the attention of the devs who might want to patch this out.
what would they patch out, though? everything is working as intended, no bugs or exploits are being taken advantage of (genuine question).
@Thomas Arelano I don't see how this could be unintended. Nikita has 20 health, so you self damage to make it better. Seems pretty similar to using c4 to recover, using self damage to your own benefit.
This is pretty cool! I wouldn't put the word "revolutionary" in the thumbnail for a tech that's only useful in specific situations in certain matchups, but the tech is still neat nevertheless.
I mean, it's an option, but it seems a bit slow to actually catch someone with.

One Lucas player once just camped ledge it was surprising how he was getting away with so much with that recovery

whats weird is that this mechanic has been in the game the whole time. weve had grenades and nikitas nobody thought to combine them.
This is one of many examples that show how complex and diverce this game is competitively.
I wasn't thinking at all about those kind of recoveries, but most of the people swing on nikita before going for up b to deactivate it for enough time to recover. Now you can trick them into hitting hit and lose a stock immidiately and if they don't and they are forced to use only air dodge nikita is easier to land.
I would think that in neutral this is less useful, because they will shield/jump over nikita anyway. For edge guarding at high % when there is time, it could be good.
Dang this actually sounds nuts. Although I don't main snake, his tech is really dope

About 3 years have passed since the release of the game and we still make what looks like basic discoveries for some interaction in the game.

1:51 You could still jank that recovery by letting the missile hit a bit later, as doing so seems to shorten the distance the PK missile travels. Haven’t really figured out why it happens though.

it works on Luigi's recovery but you have to use 2 grenades rather than 1 since his up b doesnt do much damage.

Ness main here. If my opponent does this, can I hit Nikita with magnet to break it and heal, causing the tech to backfire?
Yeah you could just force them to wanna hit you directly with the nikita as you pull out the magnet.

TL:DR you can deactivate the hitbox of snakes Nikita with a grenade and then hit your opponent without it having a hitbox
