I read and tested the theory years ago in regards to Blue ink. The article said that blue triggers a memory impulse. I started writing my grocery list in blue back when my life was Bic black, blue, and red! I can't believe I ever lived that way. Haha. I did find that if I forgot my list, the act of writing it out triggered my picture memory. Those were the days when Xerox only copied black ink. I have no idea if it was the blue. I just kept doing it.

Usually, I do all my actual planning in black, with highlights in my two colors of the month. BUT sometimes I choose a dark color, and then I use it like a fineliner - making my monthly calendar, for example. It makes a nice change.

It was fun to tell his assistants. You spend a lot of time with your dentist when you live on opiates. It's hard to find a great dentist and then move across the country. I met my dentist during an emergency walk-in and he completely took away my dental PTSD. His colleague is a masochist. I've discussed him with an assistant that steps in with him part time. She told me he scolds her if she tries to water burning flesh. That's the smell that triggers me. I communicate directly with THD via social media now. (I text with my psychiatrist..) ♡technology♡ ~Heidi

I pick up whatever color pen I feel like at the moment and I'm fine with it. I like the idea of using one color per day for a rainbow. I use a weekly HP classic dashboard and don't care if it 'looks' like a rainbow. The idea of color coding items seems like too much work lol
I use to have a ton of different colored gel pens in high school (many moons ago) and I always did all my notes and homework in different colors and I remember using yellow for an assignment and the teacher was like PLEASE do not use yellow I cannot read it 🤣🤣🤣
I use fountain pens and switch them each day. That way I get some fun colours every week and the pens get used. I also choose two colours each month to use for my daily trackers and mark off every thing in a grid format (so each item is a different colour alternating days like a chessboard).
I am a big color-coder and primarily only use pens and highlighters in my planner. Matching my different classes, work, internship, etc to a color was the best way I found to get through school and know where I had to be and at what time. I'm out of school now, but I still color code my two different jobs, put meetings in black, task list items in gray, habit tracking in blue, etc. etc. My planner probably isn't the most aesthetic, but it is super functional! And then I just use stickers to add a bit of depth or to cover up mistakes :)
You are amazing! I may not use these in my catch-all planner, but I think it would be fun to use in my self-care journal. My favorite tip was highlighting the important words. For the first time in weeks, I now want to pick up a pen and play. Thank you!
Uni-Ball Signo UM-151 is a 0.38 pen that comes in a ton of colors and writes really smoothly. It makes the Pilot pens look like charred sticks. Also, I write in black, make boxes in black, and go over the boxes with a mildliner or brush pen. If it's a note I really want to make sure I pay attention to, I'll highlight key words inside the box. It just looks so tidy and colorful. The boxes are sort of a mind map.
I don’t use blue ink, but feel compelled to confess I exclusively use “Noodler’s Lexington Gray” and Sarasa Dark Gray because they look like pencil, but don’t smear or erase. EDITED TO ADD: Yes, it is a hot mess of scribbles,, post its, and washi.
I’m so happy your back to regular videos! I always enjoy them. I like to use color in my bujo to make a distinction between dates in my daily rapid log. I’ll use color for the days of the week, water trackers and icons. Or sometimes I’ll add a colored lines to separate the days.
Love this series Cindy! I've gone down the pen rabbit hole as we all have. Really surprised thou. You see this great pack amazing colors. Alot of them are to light on white paper you can't really see it. Are there better brands or ink types that show up better in the light ranges? I love all the pretty planner pages and setups. Happy planner sticker book can be $28 in Canada at Walmart. So I budget plan dollar tree and dollar store stickers. Die cuts quotes etc that I glue . Collect gardening catolog use pics. Are you going to talk about highlighters during September? My favorite way to use highlighters I got from Rhomany's Realm, which is use a frixion highlighter to highlight things that are coming up or to dos, then erase them after they occur. That way the stuff still to do in your planner really stands out. (You could still keep somecolor by drawing a color fineliner box around the item that matches the highlighter, so the fineliner box will still be there when you've worked through the whole spread.)
I read up on Frixion pens. They don't erase. The heat turns the ink clear. So consider your pens and planner (or homework) in a hot car for a few hours. All the ink is invisible. To bring the ink back, it must reach 40 degrees farenheit. Put it in your freezer and see your "erased" things with the corrected, right on top of each other! "I did do my homework, teacher. May I use your freezer?" I'll still use them but not on anything I take with me. And I won't "erase."

I draw my bullet journal spreads in color schemes and fill them in with black or blue, but after this I think I'll branch out a bit!!

How about using highlighter pens? They come in a few different colors and would allow the use of yellow in the color scheme. Figuring out color schemes is a big part of what I do as a website designer. I'm just thinking about building a planner for myself and using pens might be less expensive than stickers. I'm also going to "go shopping" through the office supplies in my den -- to clean up and get ready for planning at the same time-- and put all the pens and other items in a box marked "PLANNER SUPPLIES" . my fave way to simplify my bujo but still have it be colorful is to do the structure i some sort of colorscheme (usually 2 or 3 i like together) and then write in all black. in school i would usually do the opposite cus i had my muji gelpens with me all the time for notes in class and they made me happy unlike school:P

I always use the colors for each Maslow pyramid humans needs. Exemple psysiological needs = pink. Finance and security = purple. Social = blue. Self esteem = green. Self Realisations = yellow or pale orange. Self actualisation = orange.
I bought stickers to use in my planner, but after getting them, I’m not thrilled with them. Washi tape, however, is growing on me (🎶 like a tumor 🎶). I am enjoying the pen-only-planning even if I don’t have a metric shit-tonne of fineliners to pick from. 😉 I’d also love a video about color theory.
I use a daily planner, one day per page. I use black ink for work-related stuff and blue ink for personal and home-related things so I can smash my whole life together in one page. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Can you give me some advice on this? My natural writing is about 2mm tall. When I try to write large - larger than 5mm or so, say - it looks shaky and sloppy. Ugh 😔 What can I do to help that?
Practice helps with that (it'll alleviate the shakiness when you get more confident with it) but until then, use a bolder pen. It won't camouflage all of the shakiness but it will mask some of it. Also, although I say writing slower is really helpful when it comes to neat writing, if you're having this problem try writing faster. It'll still be sloppy but it will also help build up that muscle memory faster!
I had this problem too, I absolutely loved my handwriting when I wrote small but it would look weird in my big’o planner. I would take just 10 minutes a day to write bigger and the more I did it, the more my handwriting wouldn’t look shaky or awkward. Like Cindy said, muscle memory is key and the next thing I know I’m unconsciously writing bigger in my planner.
These last couple videos do make me want to mess with pens more. Can't stand my handwriting but I'm trying to embrace imperfection. I'm a sticker whore so can't imagine not using them but my wallet would appreciate a break. I tend to nab a sticker theme for the week and then pick a pen color to compliment. So each week is different and also gives me plenty of time with pen types/brands to decide my favorites.

I like to use certain colors for certain things. Orange for action things. Red for exercise. Ect. I choose a color for all my todo list at home.

I’m really enjoying this series. I plan to switch to a Hobonichi Cousin next year so it will probably be mostly pen and character/icon stickers.

I would take just 10 minutes a day to write bigger and the more I did it, the more my handwriting wouldn’t look shaky or awkward. Like Cindy said, muscle memory is key and the next thing I know I’m unconsciously writing bigger in my planner.

These last couple videos do make me want to mess with pens more. Can't stand my handwriting but I'm trying to embrace imperfection. I'm a sticker whore so can't imagine not using them but my wallet would appreciate a break. I tend to nab a sticker theme for the week and then pick a pen color to compliment. So each week is different and also gives me plenty of time with pen types/brands to decide my favorites.
I have stickers and stamps and the whole team. I can't commit to play ball. I'm ill ♡
