  • Researchers and experts by experience join together to bring you a deeper understanding of eating patterns in autistic people of all ages. We will discuss how eating patterns vary, how autistic people experience eating disorders, and how Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is different from both autistic eating and anorexia nervosa. We bring you the latest research to consider, overlap with other conditions, and gender differences.
    Speakers:
Elizabeth (Liz, she/her) is an associate professor of psychology at Durham University. She has been doing research into the psychology of eating and weight for more than a decade. Liz is working with the autistic community to identify autistic people’s top priorities for eating research, using participatory methods. She also carries out research to develop and test strategies to reduce people’s risk of developing eating disorders.
Dr Josephine Neale MBBS BSc MRCPsych is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and Clinical Lead for Private Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services at Priory. Dr Neale has comprehensive experience in the assessment and management of young people with a wide range of mental health difficulties and has a particular interest in those with autism spectrum disorder, feeding and eating disorders and medically unexplained symptoms.
We'll also be joined by Nicole Kirkland from ARFID Awareness UK.
