Thank you! So simple when explained, I couldn't find enough screws and I should have guessed the cheapskates had used clips. Oh and yes, I did have a manual, the damn horse got into the workshop and ate it the week I bought it, no word of a lie!
For anyone who reads this, the cruise control is just an extra cable that comes from the rubbery part of the stalk over the steering column and connects with a simple push connector. Yank it out and push the new one in. Hold the plastic connectors when you seperate them, not the cable!
Heads up, for VX series 2 model. Just pop top part, pinch clips and slide indicator stalk outwards. The rest of cables you can see easily to pull apart once stalk is removed. DON'T pay some Muppet down the street $50 for a 2 minute job you can do in your driveway. If you have a nice commie and you treat it like your baby, then you might want to remove car battery first. Mines a sh#t box so don't really care.

Will this work for VE. It looks really similar and do you have to disable SIR and remove ground.
