    If you put compression on top of this it will sustain for longer

    Boss should have a series of videos like this one for all the common settings used in every genre from slapback country to heavy metal to screaming lead with endless sustain like Santana would use.
    I’ve seen demos showing what is possible but never tutorials on achieving the desired effect. Except for this one ! Nice job! You should think about doing a series of these tutorials. I’d be spending a lot of time watching them.

    Hey, I know this is an older video, but do you have sort of "recipes" like this for lead/rhythm sounds that sound natural or more traditional stompbox-like?

      Hey. I know it's been a year but you said you use the ME-70 at church? I would love to know your favorite settings for a light clean distortion and just clean sound in general as well as your favorite patches. Care to share?

    • @TheJofrica
      @TheJofrica 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      John Koch Hello! For a light clean distortion I like to use the Natural, OD-1, or Blues overdrive settings. Those seem to be the most responsive and also the ones that clean up nicest with the guitar's volume knob. I think I like the Blues one the best. I set it at pretty low gain (maybe like 9 o'clock) and use the guitar volume and pick attack to vary the distortion. This is mostly for open chords and plucking. Works great for leads as well. If I need heavier distortion, I use the same base settings and add heavier distortion effects in another patch so I can just switch back and for between two or more patches.
      For the amp settings, I really enjoy the Tweed setting. That seems cleanest and also the fullest and warmest, and least digital sounding.
      Here's a tip: I really, really like using the Humbucker --> Single coil feature (over in the COMP effect section), even if my guitar is already a single coil (I use a Fender Strat). What this does is it gives it a very chimey, Vox-like clean sound that you can't get tweaking the EQ or tone knobs elsewhere in the device. You just have to make sure it's not too trebly and over the top and hurting people's ears. You can also cut some highs on your guitar tone knobs. But it REALLY gives a nice clean sound that cuts through the mix. It also adds excellent overtones and frequencies to heavier distortion sounds.
      I also play a lot of jazz and conversely I like using the Single --> Humbucker setting even with humbuckers to fatten up the sound.
      To be honest I don't really use preset patches as the settings I've indicated really hit the sweet spot for me. I found a lot of the preset patches to be muddy. But you can change this if you take any preset patch and add the Humbucker--> Single effect and it makes it clearer :)
      What else?...Oh yeah I found that if you apply the Chorus effect and turn the Rate all the way down and turn the Depth/Harmony all the way up, and the E.Level (effect volume) all the way up, you get a unique stereo doubling sound that's great for thickening up leads.
      Finally, make sure your patches are all at the same volume when you're playing live so you don't get huge jolts and jumps in volume when switching voices, this can be startling (I'm speaking from experience lol). I noticed that engaging the Wah feature or other pedal expression features makes it much louder as you can't control volume anymore with the pedal.
      That's about it. This is such a great tool for playing worship. I get the lineup like a week or so before or whenever, and then I take some time to study the lineup and then program my sounds, and then come Sunday I just plug in and everything goes very smoothly. Sometimes I also just put it in edit mode and dial in sounds on the fly, but I tend to like having it all setup come Sunday morning. God bless!

    Hey Josh got a doubt
    Does this Me70 mess the tone of the amp
    Like I had this Digitech pedal and when I set my amp to just breakup and I turned on the pedal the entire volume increased and it was sort of uncontrollable

    • @josher95
      @josher95  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The amp's overall volume can be increased as well since most multi effects pedal have their own gain. Make sure you set the volume on your pedal and amp at a good level so that you can control it.

      I actually do not know because I don't have that pedal. But I would assume it would because it's the upgraded version.

    Can you loop while having it set to modulate?

    • @josher95
      @josher95  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deeken Wheeler no being that the modulate delay uses the same knob for looping

    Can you do this in combination with the loop setting?

    • @josher95
      @josher95  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Angeles if you’re doing it like in the video it won’t work. But should work fine with just one delay.

  • @evanmcshane54
    @evanmcshane54 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    So hawt

  • @nerad1994
    @nerad1994 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So you can't loop and have this effect at same time?

    • @josher95
      @josher95  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Deeken Wheeler the modulated delay shares the same knob as the loop. You can still use the regular delay on the other knob but it just won’t have the modulation effect to it.
