Watched a ton of games deployed, but week 6 2011 I was on OP Bari Alai in Kunar, Afghanistan and got to watch the Pats beat Dallas and Bucs beat NO. We were in the middle of a month long shaping operation against the Taliban, who less than two years before had overran that base. Pretty surreal.
It was this game. I watched this game on the giant projector by the pool on a cruise during my bachelor party. Seemed like we were the only Pats fans in the crowd, and everyone knew we were there. Turns out, you can max out your 'unlimited' drink package. The game was one big cherry on top of an already awesome weekend. Thanks Jules.
lifelong chiefs fan here....i dont even want to like edelman even though i have always respected and admired his fieldplay, but after listening to him chop it up with riggle i have decided he is actually smarter than he looks and his taste in sports t shirts is cool cuz i had that montana shirt as kid...nice throw back...really enjoyed the entire podcast, thank you
It was one of the most satisfying wins in the Brady/Belichick era. Everyone was all over the Chiefs, anointing them the successors and just assuming they would beat the Patriots. People were saying Brady was too old then, funny to think about now. The back and forth in the 4th quarter was so stressful, but awesome to watch. So happy the Pats won this one, on the road, not ready to give up the throne just yet.
This was postseason football at its finest. Just an amazing game for both Chiefs and Patriots, I felt that was finally to acknowledge that change of the guard in the AFC was that game. I felt like the Chiefs were going to be the next team to beat in the AFC after they can hang with the Pats.
Can anyone tell me what I have to put into Google to find the Patriots cap/hat Julian Edelman is wearing in this video? so far it seems to be a 47Brand item, but I can’t find it and I want it 😂 Or even better: where can I buy it?
This game was incredible and a life memory. I was going through a horrible divorce right before deploying in late Feb, and this game (plus the Super Bowl), gave me some much needed reprieve.
Just an add on to the fight story AFC championship. Ik this girl who's a Pats fan and I didn't know here then but she told me she was there and she was BY HERSELF getting just disrespect every where. Multiple people spitting at her feet and the people she was sitting by anytime something good would happen for KC they'd high five each but purposely hit her in the head smh and she's a sweet woman, very nice. I just can't even stand to look at Chiefs fans now. Disgusting cry babies when things don't go there way. And holy crap this year!!! They got exposed. Whiners. Expect that ref help...just soft. Especially Kermit Maholmes...you even lay a finger on him he's throwing his hands up looking for a flag, wouldn't last in the older NFL they'd tear his head off
As a chiefs fan this game broke my heart, always had respect for Edelman and those brilliant pets teams. Just so glad we came back in 2019 for that crazy run and beat the 49ers. Great interview!
Fantastic episode. For the record, "Former Marine" is a perfectly acceptable term for someone who is no longer in the Marines. "Ex-Marine" is the phrase to avoid.
Be fucking forreal guy... once a Marine, always a Marine. Don't degrade the corps because of wokeism and not wanting to offend someone. It doesn't change. Always a Marine. Been watching the NFL since 1990 and this game is in my top 3 all time favorite games, they did mention Montana in Mile High, but nothing beats the Super Bowl 28-3
I always thought that it was so ridiculous that everyone was complaining about the OT rules just because it was Patrick Mahomes. ESPECIALLY because the NFC championship game also went to OT on the exact same day as this game, and the team that got the ball first in that game ended up losing.
This is my favorite episode because of Rob. He's a fan of not only his team, but the game. He picked a game where his team lost! But he understands the game enough to appreciate the opponent and what this game ended up having such a catapult for his team's future dominance. I couldn't agree more with the perfect score. Awesome episode.
Midwest is by far the best NFL schedule. Brunch or church or girlfriend responsibilities, then Noon games, 3:25 slate, half hour max break before the 7:20-10:30 night game then bed. Y’all are starving for this level of efficiency.
As a Vikings fan, the 2009 NFC championship game actually started the overtime route changes. New Orleans won the toss, kicked a field goal and the game was over. The Favre led Vikings never got a chance.
I was in lake atitlan Guatemala with my boys in the middle of nowhere on a volcano watching this game. Suddenly half time hits and 2 Kansas city fans with jerseys walk into the German dudes cafe bar. There were 6 people… what were the chances… the greatest experience ever when we won on that last drive.
Edelman, you are a pretty funny guy. Love the podcast. In many ways, even though you're not from Boston, due to playing for the Pats, you got to know Boston, and the other teams in town, of which I think you're a fan of. Please have a Bruin on, possibly some Celtics and Sox. Still a fantastic show. Funny and informative. You have transitioned well.
It was a great game. I wish Edelman would’ve mentioned the phantom roughing the passer call Chris Jones on Brady. Edelman did what Edelman does. Moved the chains.

I love Rob Riggle but please have somebody else do an episode discussing this game that has actually watched the game... Or played in it. It was such a huge game I'd love to hear from somebody that knows more than the final score.
the only reason the game was played in Arrowhead was because of the Miami miracle. The Pats had the tie breaker vs the Chiefs because of a barn burner in Foxboro earlier in the year when Brady was just great AF in that game as well.
Yo Jules in case you never say it I’ll be the one to say it first it’s real fucked up that Brady went on mcafee before he went on yours man I know he’s done a lot for you guys but did he forget about the brotherhood??? Tf is his problem man now he owes you a visit since we know he’s willing to go on podcasts real ones would never have done that shit!!!

Snowed-in at a ski resort parking lot in NH. We listened to the tuck rule game in the car. We froze, but it was worth it! 🙌🫶🏼

Fuck yeah! It was so sweet watching Rex Burkhead pound the ball into the end zone to win the game in OT, in Kansas city! So satisfying!
It was so sweet man
It was incredible, but as a Chiefs fan we learned quickly that Mahomes could hang. It was so much fun to watch!

2015 Broncos over the Panthers was on the same level of storylines and crazy plays.
Great episode! 1-yr later, Kelce’s speech at the parade… “my guy Frank Clark, #55 who’s NOT offsides”

The 2019 AFC championship game was chiefs vs. titans. 2018 was chiefs vs. patriots
The definition of “ball don’t lie” Brady threw to Edelman the VERY NEXT play, bounced off his hands for an INT. Ball says you touched it 🤣
