There is/was essentially two era's/configs for mk1's. The first GT40 mk1 (5 liter) was unveiled in April 1964. The 7 liter mk2 was developed for the 1966 season (although the 2 long nose/tailfin 7 liters cars entered at LeMans in 1965 are sometimes referred as mk2's). The mk3 was a purpose built road car with rollup windows, luggage capacity etc (only 7 were built as customers wanting a road legal GT40 preferred mk1's - 31 sold in road legal trim). After the 1967 with the Mk4 J car the FIM enacted a 3 liter limit on engine capacity for prototypes. Cars built in qty50 or more could run 5 liter motors though. Both the mk1 Ford GT40 and the Lola T70 were qualified. Tire technology had moved forward in leaps and bounds (especially in width) in the 1960's hence the mk1 chassis 1075 that won both the 1968 and 1969 LeMans 24 hr had bulged fenders to house the latest rubber.
For my 18 birthday this would be an amazing gift round a trackday (the mark 2)
Not like im asking
I've always lusted over a GT40 and a Cobra, but life and family have always gotten in the way, and you, your dirty dog, have 2 😂😂. It's well and truly on my bucket list, and I hope to have one within the next 1 to 2 years.
I can’t believe I ran across your page randomly I’m one of the guys that hooked the power up to your house when it was being built lol I’ll never forget the layout of the place most beautiful property iv ever been on
The best video on MK1 and 2 differences. Well done Vinny 👍😁👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks dude!
Absolutely love your content Vinny - your garage has inspired me to build a similar version down here in Australia. Both such awesome cars but on looks alone the MK1 narrowly gets my vote
absolute dream car 🤘
Damn, the MK1 is absolutely beautiful 🖤
You’re so right about the mirrors on the Mk1, I had F1 mirrors on mine and it exhausted me trying to keep them adjusted. I replaced them with brushed aluminum RayDots…much better.
those babies sound incredible! love this channel. keep making these great videos
Thank you!!!
When you were test driving the cars where you in Concord up by the airport? I live the the area and I recognized it. Sure looked like it. Thanks for the video. That's my dream car for sure.
Yessir!
Both are beautiful cars. I would suggest if you want a GT 40 to drive everyday and still get the LOOKS that this car gets when on the road, I personally would opt for a FACTORY 5 GT 40 that they produce in at least 6 different configurations. You can also CUSTOMIZE them into accessories that one could really want. A NEW Factory 5 starting price is around $100K and goes up from there. So many engine options are available from around 350 to 1000+ Horsepower! Classic styling that NEVER gets old! Great video and educational!
I'm planning on getting a Mk1 built pretty soon... But I know I'm gonna have add a Mk2 at some point lol.
I really wish someone did Mk3 replicas too, I love the way that dual headlight, slightly longer wheelbase ended up looking.
Fantastic video and information. Looks like the mk1 is European, elegant, with the right engine and the mk2 is from the USA. Brut force and aggressive details. The mk2 is all done at 4 or 5K when the Coyote is just coming on! Great stuff. Please do some more detailed videos
Awesome video. I have always loved GT40s and this video explains why 👏🏼
This is an awesome collection - I'm curious if you have the 2000s version of the GT or the most recent GT. And if not, why not?
Great comparison vid. I would love to get a Superformance MK II with that raw punch of the MK I. Does the II have power steering?
Hello Vinny. What engine spec do you have in the MKii? Amazing video content.
Would love to hear about the purchase/build process and upkeep in a video… asking for a friend 😅
The Windsor is awesome but I like the Aluminator better for these cars. GT40s are pretty light and having 100 ft/lb less torque is actually a benefit. And of course, brain-melting power is always available further up the rev range.
I believe this is an FE block, not a stroker Windsor.
Cool car //What do they call that Silver paint? - looks like a smoke silver
The MK2 seem so wild i love it
It's WILD!! 😂
When I go to get my superformance gt40 I am building it to the exact spec of chassis 1010 with the stacked taillights and the 289 fia crate engine from cobra automotive
Love it!! Can't wait to see it. Youd better hit me up to go for a cruise
@@VINGIGGS it would be an Honor!
The Mk1 is crazy cool ❤👍
Love seeing the little differences in the two GT40s!!
Id love to see the Byerrari on 421! I'd love to tag along as a camera car in my Cobra 😂. I'm sure the Cobra or the GT500s would be a hoot too. Maybe multiple trips xD
Drooling.
just so badass... thanks for sharing!
Absolutely amazing Vinny!! Badass yet again! I prefer the Mk1 though but thats just me haha.
Not sure if I missed it or if it’s in a previous video but do either of these have the megaphone exhaust? Or is there a video you made comparing the two?
Both have megaphone exhausts. I haven't made a video comparing them, but there are a lot of videos with epic sounds from both 🙂
Great video
I'm partial to the look of the Mk1 as it seems more elegant and Mk2 more brutish. I'd be happy to have either one though! Is the white Daytona in the background missing the exhaust?
The Daytona is getting finished up this week and will be home next week. Stay tuned!
Great motivation. The GT40 is my dream car. My hearts set on a Gelscoe Motorsport GT40. They've got the original blueprints from the Slough (UK) Factory (where all the GT40s were built).
Just the small matter of £300k+, but I need that 289 v8 in my life
Superformance would be a better choice... Just sayin!
@@DavidGlancy-zi8nk I'd suggest you do your research on Gelscoe motorsport. They are the best builders of GT40s for racing purposes, anywhere.
@DavidGlancy-zi8nk superformance are great if you want a street car. The Gelscoe cars are widely accepted, in the gt40 community, as being the most accurate race replicas.
If you want to enter historic racing, with an Apoendix K HTP to enter Le Mans Classic, Goodwood revival etc, then the Gelscoe cars are what you want. Proper RHD with RH geaerchange, not like these with incorrect central gear change
Just awesome
Awesome!!!!
This is dope
MK1 sounds.. meatier👀Still, MK2 looks is what I'll go for when I buy one. I hope you can speck locks on the hoods and some kind of mesh to cover fans and exhaust pipe (inside) cause I know jealous mofos gonna try to open it and throw siht into fans and exhaust when it's parked somewhere.
Can we spec it in 2023 as well??
僕の夢の車だ!!エンジンは何Lですか?
Does the mk ii have a Roush 427R, 427SR, or some other variant?
Wow!
What size wheels and tires are on the gen 1?
great video :) i love gt40s and superformance is amazing
Thank you!
together.. gt80..😅
😂😂
Is the black one not a gt40 looks just like one
The black one is not a GT40, it's actually a 2005 Ford GT
Me again. Still waiting for the 67 gt500 review…….
We're still not allowed to film it. I promise as soon as we are it's coming 😊

Thanks I appreciate it! Good luck on the build, it's incredible having my own space to play with the cars and just hang out. You're gonna love it!
