G20 declaration: How to censure Russia without naming Russia? | DW News

  • Leaders at the G20 summit in Delhi have reached consensus on a declaration despite stark differences over how to reference the war in Ukraine.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the adoption of the text, which calls on all states to refrain from the threat or use of force for territorial gain. It also called on Russia and Ukraine to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of grain from both countries. Climate change was also a key element, with leaders backing efforts to triple the world's renewable energy capacity by 2030. Russia and China's leaders are absent from the summit but sent diplomats in their place.

The declaration agrees on 76 different issues, but DW has only one concern: Ukraine. There is a world outside of the Ukraine and Russia war. This G20 was historic since it agreed upon the highest number of issues, which is double or thrice the number from previous G20 meetings. It shows how hard Indian diplomats work. Additionally, the African Union became a member during the Indian Presidency. Great work from Modi's Team

See atrocities are defined according to my sense where one is aggresive and another one is submissive and not able to fight equally. Not to forget Ukraine has a support of NATO militarily and it is a war. And Ukraine, if mature enough, can end it surely by making a statement that they will not join NATO and accept the Donbas and some other region as Russian driven region from now on like they want earlier too. But they want to defeat Russia in the war which can't happen and even NATO knows it. Meanwhile it is Ukraine who is getting blows and not getting Nato seat too. Also USA President during 1996 or 97(not sure)promised after division of USSR happened that NATO will not expand further then why NATO keep on expanding itself. What more u want to do that can make Russia threatened even after reaching their doors. Sometimes I really feel bad for Ukraine that they fall into the promises of Western countries and still they are using Ukraine to weaken Russia. Really sad 😢

A very very slow learning process for the collective West. It has taken them more than a year to learn that their wrong approach, towards Russia's concerns of Nato's actions in Europe, has resulted in the destruction of European and US economies, and the creation of a multipolar world.

When it doesn't mention Russia, it is left to individual imagination and West is obviously free to imagine whatever it wants, it is as simple as that.
As far as territorial integrity and respecting sovereignty is concerned West has violated that more than anyone else in the last 100 years or so. Be is Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lybia etc, list is quite long. So the text in my opinion is referring more to that.
And one can also interpret it that is about China's aggression like it's recent new maps and claims.
So it is general text, not specific and that's what it is.

India provided the world's highest amount of aid of 45 trillion dollar to UK from (1757-1947)... Sadly UK didn't used those aid money for their nation but rather they spent those money to fight wars in distant lands of middle East and Africa and continues till this day despite 20% of UK's population lives in poverty and almost 315k people are homeless in UK. I wish UK use money on their hungry and homeless population instead of funding their military to buy weapons from other countries

Can you DW be so kind to remind us your position when Belgrade was bombed from NATO, Germany was destroying Yugoslavia and promoting independent KOSOVO without taking care of the Serbian minority wich was bigger than the Albanian minority in Serbia. Go on with the good work Germany . It took some time for Germans who once were living in Volga to retreat to Oder.Rhein is near.

Their wrong aproach toward Ukraine Russia conflict is what triggered multipolarity and decline of western hegemony. Biden is to be blamed. Trump was very practical. If it wasn't for India's neutrality, the whole world would be suffering by now. Imagine entire world without Russian energy and food. There would have been world war 3. West took short sighted approach to Ukraine Russia conflict. People now have less trust in them. Its Good neutral country like India stepping up to global chellenges with its balanced approach in extremely polarised and unstable times under extreme pressure. Powerful India is good for world.
