    Kudos for being able to sit that long and work that detailed. my drifting mind rushes everything I do, i'm constantly trying to get myself to be more detailed in my work. its so hard. well done.

      Patience is a skill I have had to develop over a very long time. For my first 5 or 7 years of creating art, I almost never finished any art. It was all half finished because I had no patience to see it through to the end. Obviously that all changed. Mostly because when you're creating art for companies, you MUST get it done :-) Now I have the patience to sit all day to work on art. Thank you.

    I want to thank you once more :) with the videos you provide for us. My art has improved since taking college art classes but they do not teach techniques sadly. So, when i paint sometimes beginning students ask me to help them. They don't know the wonderful lessons i learned from your TH-cam videos.I always tell them where i got the techniques which is from you. Also,
    I show my painting pals your videos and they fall in love with your art.

    Truly a wonderful artwork Jeff.... It reminds me very much a painting of the painter Italian of 1,600 Giuseppe Arcimboldo: He used to combine several elements, like in your case Pisces, to compose an anthropomorphic human figure 😀 😀 😀 😀 You are really a genius Jeff!!!!! Your big fan Italian 👍🏼👍🏼❤️❤️

      Thank you so much!! Yeah, I see what you are talking about with Giuseppe Arcimboldo. I have always liked his stuff. Very strange, but fascinating.

      They take a lot of time to put together. It's why I have to start trying to sell the longer videos in DVD or Digital Download format. I really want to do longer, more advanced painting videos, but they take time and money to produce.

    you need to do a inking dvd next. This is amazing work :) Im really not fond of Oil painting- Im more of an acrylic guy. But that won't stop me from spreading the word about your great work. I have said it before but I loved your acrylic painting dvd set. I look forward to more great videos in the future.

    • @jeffmiracolaartist
      @jeffmiracolaartist  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you very much. I'd love to do a very detailed inking DVD, too. But honestly, if this Oil Painting DVD isn't successful, that's not likely to happen. Although, I may combine an inking DVD/Digital Download with an art book of my ink drawings. That's definitely a possibility.

    Your line work is amazing! What to you do if you fudge a line? Whiteout? Or restart

    • @jeffmiracolaartist
      @jeffmiracolaartist  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I mess up, I use white paint to cover it. But thankfully that hasn't happened in a long time. As long as you plan it out well, you can minimize mistakes.

  • @GregHallArt

    Nice work as always. Do you have to seal the inks before painting with acrylics?

  • @omargeddonthemighty
    @omargeddonthemighty 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you go over using the acrylic on ink?

    Great vid as always. Dumb question: it doesn't look like you mapped out much if any of the lighting in your pencils. Do you thumbnail your light/shadows or do you just dive in with a general idea of your light source?

    • @jeffmiracolaartist
      @jeffmiracolaartist  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Devon Marcel normally I would do a little more detailed drawing that had the light source worked out. However, for this one I just made it up as I went along. I find it exciting to once in a while do an ink drawing with very little pencil guide. It makes it scary at the prospect of messing up, but also exciting :-)

    One Question I've always had, How do you create a fantasy composition from memory,
    Say for example : She rode on the sea surpents back through the jungle to the castle.
    I can copy but apart from small changes I could not create my own. Any tips?

    • @jeffmiracolaartist
      @jeffmiracolaartist  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drawing from memory is pretty tough. It takes a keen sense of observation and memory skills, not to mention a lot of drawing of different things over the years which helps commit those images to memory.
      The easier way to go about this is to find lots of inspirational reference images to look at while you draw. So in your example, You should find images of castles, jungles, snakes, reptiles, fish, and maybe even some fantastical sea monster images others may have done. Sit down with that stuff, look it over for a while and start to formulate a scene in your head. Start to image what the sea serpent could look like based on all the reference you gathered. Then get to work sketching out the creature and various compositions which include the castle and jungle.
      It all starts with gathering reference imagery :-)

      @jeffmiracolaartist  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL. I can not work in a messy studio. When it's a mess, I have to get up and clean it or I just can't concentrate on my work. Seriously, I think I have a problem. HAHA

    hey jeff! have you posted the kickstarter link or youtube video in any art facebook groups? there are probably lots of painters who would pre-order it

    • @jeffmiracolaartist
      @jeffmiracolaartist  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. The problem is that I don't already belong to a lot of these groups and don't want to jump in just to spam them with my project. It feels so self-serving to me. I already have a hard enough time constantly bombarding my TH-cam, Facebook, and Twitter followers with this stuff. If you know of groups and you are a member, feel free to post a link to my Kickstarter for sure. That would be very helpful.

    for anyone that is interested- in Jeff's acrylic painting dvd set- Head over to Amazon. There are nearly 40 reviews on the site for this product and every one of them is a 5 star :) Including my own review- you can find it under Calibur. Needless to say if you are in to oil painting I don't think you will regret Supporting Jeff on his Oil painting project

    You should trim those nails, they starting to look beastly.

    • @jeffmiracolaartist

      NEVER!! I'm gonna let them grow longer and longer, getting all curly so I can hardly paint. LOL. Ok seriously, yes, I do trim them once in a while :-)

      That's my plan, bro. Get people to start watching, then have them fall asleep half way through so they then have funky Jeff Miracola dreams. LOL I agree, it is chill. But that's how I was feeling while working on it.
