Yeah I hated televoters on some entries of 2011 and in majority of 2014!!! In 2014, televoters pushed us Azerbaijanis from jury's 5th place to bottom 5! But in 2011 they gave us victory (Running Scared is not our best entry but we're proud of it).
Juries were so much better than televote in 2011! Very happu that thay saved Italy, Slovenia, Denmark, Austria and Serbia. They were all 5 among my favorites that year.
I do think Italy is one of, if not the most consistent country in the competition, but I do agree not all of their songs have been homeruns. But Madness of Love, Soldi and Zitti E Buoni all deserved their top 2 placement. Italy should have won in 2011. Pure quality.

Popular's key was Eric imo and his charisma to sell it. I even like other pop songs better that year like Lipstick but Eric sold Popular.

The host country (Germany) was one of the big 5. So there were only 25 countries in the final (10 qualifiers from both semi finals and big 5)
