Many of us think they don't do covers, they do upgrades!! I haven't heard one cover that they've done that isn't better than the original. If you're in doubt check out "Gold", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", and "My Favorite Things"....just a few that show their talent.

Avi left the group in 2017. They made one MV, " Dancing On My Own ", with no bass, just Kevin playing the cello. This is the first video, that I saw Matt singing in. Everybody loves Avi but Matt does an admirable job😎

Avi Kaplan left the group about three yrs ago. Pentatonix was, and still is, going full-steam busy with little to no down time when Avi's mother got very ill. He was a very family oriented guy, and on top of that really loved his downtime to wander hills and nature. When his mother was dangerously ill and family was gathering around her Avi couldn't get the time to go without violating contracts so he chose to bow out of the group. There's a goodbye video out there in U-tube land. Now he's doing solo work and some of it is remarkable. Check out his "Change On The Rise" and "It Knows Me". In the mean time Pentatonix has brought Matt Salee into the fold for their low bass needs. He's very polished with a great voice.

Avi was with the group from 2011-2017. His mother had cancer and their tour schedule was constant so he sadly left the group ( there is the announcement with all of them on You tube). They have a few songs alone with just the four of them and Kevin plays his cello ( cello is named Beyoncé by the way) he tunes cello to play the base part. Then in 2017 they found Matt That’s the only change in tens years together Check out Their cover of Gold, Sing an original , Another fun colorful one is Come Along!! or their brilliant cover of “Say Something” They slay Elton John’s “Can you feel the love tonight”. from the Lion King.

As beautiful as this song is, it's a shock that what they are talking about is a nuclear explosion with people walking aimlessly about and those that remember write the story on tenement walls and subways halls so that people won't forget what got us there. This was a song first created by Simon and Garfunkel singing about the cold war when we feared a war with Cuba. As a child, I remember the , ' duck and cover' training that we practiced under our school desks. This was a song written in the 60's when I was a child,. But Pentatonix has made it's song for today with our hearing of certain countries practicing with missiles,not knowing where they will be aimed. Pentatonix does this song so much justice. So many of the younger generation do not remember those times and try to figure out what this song means. What I just wrote explains it all. An earthshaking reminder. What is the origin of the comment that Avi hand-picked Matt? There is much controversy about it. But listening to Matt speak about his audition for the bass, he says his agent hid what group he was auditioning for because Matt was afraid of his worthiness to be in such a great group he admired so much and would not have gone to audition of he'd known. I do not think Avi had anything to do with him auditioning for PTX.
When Avi decided he didn’t want to be in the group and touring because of his family, he stepped out and Matt became the bass.
Avi actually introduced Matt to the group as his replacement. Total quality all the way around.
