Hi Pluto!! TYVM for experiencing this video with us... one of my favorites. Freddie was the artist/creator in the group (that would be my guess)... and, like "I Want to Break Free", they always loved a good reason to get "dressed up" per se... and the fact that this song came out during the "Roger Rabbit" era of the 80's, animation was very popular and prolific... another semi-animated video is "The Invisible Man"... kinda fun and definitely catchy... blessings.
Roger wrote this song for the Queen Soundtrack for the movie Highlander. I really love this song, Roger really nailed it, I love Brian's guitar work on this song so much.
Freddie’s vocals are superb!! Love it!! One of the sings from the 1986 Highlander movie soundtrack! Good ol’ Roger penned this song & DON’T LOSE YOUR HEAD, another song from the soundtrack with an obvious John Carpenter vibe! 🗽
Well, Freddie had a Graphic Arts degree from Ealing Arts College over there in England. However, all he really ever did with it afterwards was create the Queen crest logo. From my knowledge, any animation in Queen music videos is by Disney. Not sure why the choice of animation for this video.
I know what you mean about the film, it was very well shot but not a firm favourite, that all changed when they did it live on the 86 magic tour. I not sure who decided on the video content but my guess would be Freddie simply as he had the graphic, art and design qualification. I've got a couple of others for yo think about, they did 3 songs responding to thieving managers and a intrusive hostile press. 1.flick of the wrist . The was when they felt they were being financially abused by their manager, sadly he chose to ignore it which lead to Freddie writing the first diss track. 2. Death on two legs, he couldn't make it any clearer if you want to hear this use the lyric version. It shows that you don't mess with Queen, it's very harsh so much so Brian fell uneasy singing it. I've rambled on too much. Blessings from England xx
HEY PLUTO… REQUEST: The live performance of this song, from… FRIDAY, JULY 11, 1986 At Wembley Stadium (For this particular song, the video for the Friday Wembley performance is LEAGUES better than the Saturday Wembley rendition!)
This song came from the movie soundtrack "Highlander". No it is not a favorite of mine but entertaining. The live performance they did of this at Wembley in 1986 is 100% times better, IMO. But Queen live has a different feel to it than the video. It is great to see you back Pluto!
punchy video, his voice so intense. bass line is divine. all we love in Queen is in this video. the film Highlander was so good too.
The bass makes this song for me.
Freddie thought it could be a hit so added bass more guitar...

Rogers film version was heavier
This is Freddies tweaked version with bass and extra guitar
