  • The Brazilian Amazon APD Grouped Project is an initiative aimed at forest conservation in areas exceeding the Legal Reserve of private properties located in the nine states of the Legal Amazon.
This is a Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) project, in the Avoided Planned Deforestation (APD) category, registered on the Verra platform with ID 2551.
Landowners who give up the right to legally deforest areas inside rural properties for 30 years will be able to access financial resources from the voluntary carbon market, becoming partners of brCarbon.
Rigorous due diligence processes on land titles, carbon stocks and licenses of deforestation, as well as stakeholder consultation and engagement associated with a Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), guarantee security and credibility to the project.
Protected from the baseline complexity of REDD AUD projects, as well as ongoing methodological changes, the Brazilian Amazon project provides a consistent and robust baseline, with solid and transparent additionality. REDD+ APD projects are able to effectively demonstrate the real intention of deforestation, being able to provide a secure and verifiable baseline, not being affected by current REDD+ methodological updates underway at Verra.
The Brazilian Amazon project is validated for the Verified Carbon Standard - VCS and Climate, Community and Biodiversity - CCB (Biodiversity Gold Level) standards, audited annually by an independent institution accredited by Verra.
