It's mapped to come in smoother, k20a2 engines normally kick in really hard at 6k rpm, and you can hear it tonnes, but mapped k20a2 engines have the crossover at around 4500 rpm and for it to be a bit smoother.
My 2000 H22 Prelude would crack and you felt an instant torque increase and sounded even better when it opened up, that car was one of my favorites I miss it to this day

EVERY new gasoline vehicle uses their own version of VTEC

Vanos isn’t like that and nor are most other variable valve timing systems. The only other one which is like Hondas vtec is Toyotas but that was never as good as hondas.

I've never been a fan of the sound, but I love the reliability. The engine is very well engineered. My favorite sound would be a 2jz or a subaru ej.
