Be sure to catch Andrew's tutorials at Pure Mix. He is a master instructor. I have (no offense to Berklee) gotten more out of Pure Mix than my Berklee (College of Music) classes. THAT say a lot.
Andrew is such a wonderful person, sharing and giving and helping us all to keep making the mix into art (the theme of my studio). This is such a beautiful hybrid studio. There is still something magical and inspiring in a studio - I believe that there will always be a need for full studios. Like Andrew, I grew up all analog, there was no digital. I remember the first time we brought Pro-Tools into the studio- it was a sea change but everything went through our big Neve console and out to the massive 24 track Studer A-800's. I'm still very analog, but I hope I have been able to integrate the digital domain into my analog world. I too have to be able to push faders have VCA's and have pan knobs - so I have an SSL Nucleus control surface, which I love. I do have to say, that bouncing and doing takes is much easier in the digital world (we used to punch and edit tape with a razor blade and scotch tape). I'm still using Pro-Tools after all of these years, even though my signal chain is as analog as I can make it. The difference now rather than the "old days" is that now I depend on Pro Tools. Thank you Avid. 🎶
Through all that was going on between Roger and David!! (in particular, they created magic at Miraval). Dark Side was all done at Abbey Road on the TG12345 transistor desk. Honestly? If we are going to save the music people are listening to, we must get back to the perfection of these works, both instrumentally, vocally and at the console for the mix. We must always treat our mixes as art.
Phenomenal video & congrats Gentlemen for keeping a legendary studio alive for Artists ⚜️ I’m beyond proud of U guys, especially my dear friend Carmen Rizzo 🔊 xx
Not a Fan of modern "white Rooms" , but the windows helps a lot and the balance of the Interior Design and the balance between analog and digital is good.... congrats....beautiful space ...
I would, but I agree with your comment, a lot of ppl don’t have the same depth of love for music and production, so a lot of the time they barely wanna get ok sounding monitors and preamps. They just wanna have convenience to do everything either super low cost or free. I’d get a big studio build front ground up like this if I had the money for it, but I think it’s possible as I always invest into my craft.
@@JmoneyProd It’s not about love of music or production. You will find more « dedicated » musicians and producers in crappy studios fighting their way thru and overcoming the lack of resources. What you are talking about is the love of « the hype of the process » which has nothing to do with the final results of a creative production. As a reminder, The Police, U2, The Stones, Eurythmics, and all the early Motown productions were recorded in low end studios in their beginnings and gave us probably their best songs.
Here’s some perspective; just because they’re in an over the top studio doesn’t mean they didn’t work their way into this scenario. It’s just a different approach. No one needs to be better than the other. Lotta room in the world of music production.
This is an amazing project, shout out to Brad! But woah. Let's call the *VIBE POLICE* and get you guys some help asap! Beautiful room and beautiful control room but uhmmm why wouldn't you uhh put down some vintage rugs in the control room? (I hear the vibe siren, worry not soldiers of sound, VIBE POLICE are on their way!) I'm sure there are a ton of amazing spots in that region to find furnishings for the place; beautiful rugs, artwork, paintings, furniture etc. How is anyone supposed to plum the depths of their human experience and bolt that through the radical power of sound when they're worried about spilling a rosé on the porcelain white couch. (Tyler Durden, please help these people!!) For the love of all that is sacred in music, please throw away the furniture and rug set that you bought from IKEA in the live room, these furnishings are giving "stacy just wrapped up grad school and is starting her first job at the law firm next week" apartment set. The whole time you talk about the history, and you spent all this money on amazing vintage gear - but think about all your favorite artists - coltrane, jimi, prince, etc etc - you think they'd be able open up the skies and let the universe pour through them and into a microphone in this environment? people, come on, we can do better than this I'll give you a citation this time, but if the VIBE POLICE come back in 6 weeks and you aren't well on your way to making this into a VIBEY MECCA OF MUSIC filled with furnishings that reflect the depths of purity, beauty, history, and truth, we will be back !!
The studio looks great. How much did it cost to build something like it? How did you pay for it, and if it is with debt, how do you plan to recouperate the money?
if you guys need a 40 yo unemployed white dude from the PNW to hang around the studio wearing flannel to help inspire people, just let me know. I'm there. well- you'll have to pay to get me there, it'll be totally worth it though. I know my wine too, it's a win win
I'm far from a traditionalist and am all for new tech, but I do worry that AI will make all this obselete and with a far worse end result. We can all scream how it's going to only ever be a tool to enhance but that just isn't how it always plays out. I just hope these studios and the true art of making real music, or "old" music as it might be known soon, stays well in touch.
Nice, but I wouldn't trade my tascam 464 mkll tape machine, Roland SP 202 lo fi sampler and my nasty old gritty sounding alesis 3630 compressor for nothing!
Amazing looking but at the same time too cold/bright/sterile. Very cool space but not really ispirational. But I can't afford it anyway so no problem :D
nobody has a 5.1 car audio, I dont like how dolby 360 sounds, its just boring. I mean yeah could be nice to have a 5.2 sound sytem but trully only people with money can do it, and they tend to not listen to music, cuz they are bussy on their bussines. This for me is more a bussines for dolby rather than a real market.
It’s cool, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t know if it’s conducive to creativity. I know these producers can certainly get a good performance out of professionals being sent here by a record company, who likely is only loaning the band money and they’ll spend the next 20 years working off a 6 album deal, but truly great things don’t come from a clinical setting like this. Google “manshun LCD soundsystem” Then google “Einstein’s office” See what I mean?
Honestly I can listen to Scheps talk about mixing and mastering all day long incredible studio man congratulations!
i was about to say the same....I could fall asleep to him talking, but I can't cause its so interesting :-)
Couldn’t agree more @prodbyecee . Mr. Scheps is the tip of the sword! He’s so great at explaining things, and seems to be a down to earth human.
Be sure to catch Andrew's tutorials at Pure Mix. He is a master instructor. I have (no offense to Berklee) gotten more out of Pure Mix than my Berklee (College of Music) classes. THAT say a lot.
@@shanegrush Oh also? Andrew rescued all of the racks of equipment they were going to toss at the Motown studios! How wonderful is that!
It was a privilege to work with you guys. A shout out to Pascale our chippy for keeping us focussed when Brad got busy on the blower.
Im even more Amazed Brad bankrolled this, and its great to know his put money into this incredible "Arts" space.. Respect.
This is the stuff of dreams.....outside & inside the studio....just sublime.
Incredible. I'm going to work on a project there one day. Speaking it into existence!
Nice to See Carmen. What a treat!

Miraval was where Pink Floyd recorded parts of The Wall. No idea what it looked like then, but this looks beautiful.
Interesting. To me its the ultimate musical production. It's perfect.
if you want to see what it looked like find Chris Rea's documentary filmed in 2002 in Miraval. It's on TH-cam

One of my favourite album was recorded there. The Cure's Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me.

Beautiful spaces, indoors and out!
It was great working with Andrew, Carmen, Damien and Miraval 🎉❤
This is so Legendary! So great to have these 3 minds in the same Room! Not to mention the Lab! Miraval! This is priceless!
Nice to see you guys.
I'm so happy of Miraval's rebirth !
So proud of you. Great work
tremendous ! thank to all for this magic revival !
Super cool studio. !!! Wow
Excellent tour! Thanks! 👍👍

Congrats 🔥
What genre of music is still having artist spend $$$ for a session in esoteric studios like these. 🤯
unfortunately it's the most garbage "artists."
Wowwwwwwwww what a Beautiful Immersive Space!
So who will be willing to spend sooo much money in a production nowadays ?

I'm presently staying about 20 miles away near Entrecasteau - I would love to set up an appointment to view the facility
Gorgeous is the word...

Spent 2 months recording there in 84(?) with Steve Lavelle (Culture Club) producing.
wow!!
Great job

I'm sad that I might never be able to go there 😢
this is crazy
Fantastico

I advocate for this
I didn't know the "Aural Exciter" plugin was based on hardware 🙂
Beautiful looking space indoors and out. Not so sure about the retro-futuristic control room.
coffee stains are gonna be real there
This is not a studio , this is cockpit of the Enterprise :)
What’s the day rate?
2:45 which monitor is that?
🙏🏼
Travis Scotts ‘Utopia’ was recorded there recently
I’m here because someone mentioned that Travis Scott’s utopia album was recorded here 😭😭😭
Thank you ! ! Good Luck ! 🍀🍀🍀 For ever 💙 Marc SEIGNOUREL 🙋♀
Legendary this and legendary that…. Not everything is that’s been successful in any way is legendary.
It's hard to stop working, I don't want to go home, I prefer to stay in the studio
Your face looks kinda similar to Warren Huart! That's a blessing mate!
Looks like a futuristic hospital. Too sterile and white for me. I get the feeling that I'm there for taking an MRI or CT.
Exactly,
😂
🎉
They should have hung a huge widescreen down from the ceiling
I don't know why pro tools is trying to market their DAW as having 'the right sound' - as if it 'sounds' better than the alternatives. It doesn't.

🤣🤣🤣Peavey Decade Amp 3:04
Imagine someone Hiring that studio and the song produced only had 4 tracks
It's a bit over the top.
To bad DAFT PUNK won't get to record there...
Nice, but I wouldn't trade my tascam 464 mkll tape machine, Roland SP 202 lo fi sampler and my nasty old gritty sounding alesis 3630 compressor for nothing!
Excessive and unnecessary these days
please adopt me!😂
Uh. Nice.

A lot of white paint....
Well, that' great and... out of reach. So....
I'm so annoyed by how young this guy is...
Doesn’t Brad Pitt own this?
Yep.
Where's Brad? (ducking)
I don't know man .... This just doesn't seem right
UTOPIA!!!

Beautiful studio…. Shame the music industry has now been destroyed.. people will pay lots for
Coffee but virtually nothing for a song
As if built by AI
Boring. Bored.
Ew
shills
"Painkiller" and "Mutter" were made here.
It looks way too futuristic for me
It’s cool, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t know if it’s conducive to creativity.

See what I mean?
I mean, if you have to 'slum it' then I suppose this studio will do... LOL! Very nice
Yo Avid $500 bucks for Autotune Hybrid is OD crazy, Cut that deal with Antares. asap.
