True! It certainly adds some charm to the system. Better than calling it something like the City Connector or something like that. Thanks for watching!
That opening question is a VERY 29DownTheLine question to ask. Never ridden the CUE, but I do have a route map from when the system first started in the 1980s!
Glad you liked the intro! The CUE is a cool little system! I have a friend who showed me old photos of when it first opened, so I’m sure the old maps are cool as well!
I suppose having a stock photo of Sammy somewhere on the internet, is better than having noods floating around the internet. Lol. Still quite interesting they used his photo in a frame like that.
Cool! It seems like a pretty effective bus system. Would you say it’s a pretty convenient connection to the Metro most of the time? Or does it feel like more of a hassle to add one more leg to your journey?
I remembered using this bus when I used to live in Annandale and take the 29K/N to reach CUE territory. The service is simple yet effective and the staff is super friendly. There are some quirks like a bus shelter between Pickett and Mathy being far away from the actual stop, and the unnecessary extra stops but it’s still a great system. I’ve said it once I’ll say it again, lol. The CUE is the Raising Cane’s of the DC metro.
The Raising Cane’s of the DC Metro- I like that! Hopefully they can get rid of some of the unnecessary stops to simplify things further! It’s a good example of how simplicity can be effective!
It’s a pretty good photo! Also the Gilligs are cool! I think Loudoun County Transit uses the same ones (or very similar) so I’ve ridden something like this before. I actually like the look of the boxier Gilligs better but maybe that’s just because the transit agency I’m around most often uses less aerodynamic ones, so that’s just what I’m used to! Thanks for watching!!!
I actually wasn’t sure. Just saw it now when you mentioned it. Looked it up; apparently it means cooling is done electronically (with fans, I think) instead of hydraulically. I’ll have to look more into it; I’m not too familiar with bus engines!
@@29downtheline That's interesting! CUE had Gillig hybrids as early as 2009, but they retired them in 2022 and I was sad about that. Seemed like a step backward not to add more hybrids in my opinion -- hopefully they'll do it again.
That photo is probably the most unexpected thing this year for me 😅 thanks for the shoutout!
The photo provided quite the way to end a video! Happy to give you a shoutout; you make awesome videos!
we love backronyms

Other companies used it as well, apparently! Tho photo labeled him as a “cheerful businessman” lol
def better then noods 😂those don't exist for the record.
Suddenly I need lunch from havabite in downtown fairfax
I didn’t eat anywhere downtown while I was there, but I’ll keep it in mind if I’m there again in the future!
I take the CUE bus to and from GMU and the Vienna/Fairfax station all the time

CUE has the aerodynamic Gilligs 🤩

WOOOOOO CUE! NICHE TRANSIT IS BEST
Glad you enjoyed! I try to ride some smaller networks when I get the chance!
What does "mini hybrid" mean on the buses? I've never seen that before.

Having more Gillig hybrids would be cool!

Her voice is not on the CUE, unfortunately
