This is a great video. The wipes they sell don't break down nearly as fast as paper towel. I make my own shampoo with liquid castile soap and tea tree oil and it is fabulous. The drops, in a small amount in ratio to everything, don't irritate- only leave an invigorating feeling. When my son was a baby, I used nothing but baby wash cloths and baby wash. He rarely ever got a rash. I just added baby wash cloths with cloth diapers to wash after soaking them in a water/bleach solution.
@twoblink you do save alot i havent added it up but weve been buying disposable babywipes and diapers for 3 years with our 1st and now our second is 11 months old we thought it would be best to save money now.
If you are not adding tea tree oil, you will have to be careful to use the wipes quickly and not let it get too warm, as it will mold. Order tea tree oil online. I don't recommend making wipes without them.Glad you found this video informative.
I have been doing something similar to this for years. I used to add water and lotion with paper towels to an old baby wipes box. This is a better recipe although mines was just random last min I ran out it moment
I love this idea! I wonder if they will stay moist in my wipe warmer since it's not air tight. Is there an alternative to the Tea tree oil that will keep the mold off?
Hi Albert- First: thank you. Second: It doesn't look like the liquid has suffused the entire half-cut roll. Will it eventually? Should/Do I need to turn the roll over and repeat the process?
I don't know how much you get them for, but where I'm from, baby wipes cost 7$ for a 3x pack refill and 5$ for wipes in a tub ( and this is before taxes) and that's if they are on major sale! Compared to that, good quality cloth-like paper towels are much cheaper. The rest of the ingredients are what I have around the house anyway.
@coyllur100 Look around, it's not expensive. and yes, you need it because essential oils kill germs, and tea tree oil is one of the strongest. Otherwise, you'll get mold on your wipes. A bottle goes a LONG way, I think we are still on our first bottle of tea tree oil.
how about ACV and hydrogen peroxide to keep bacteria at bay because house is warmer into winter heard that tea tree and lavendar are estrogenic so may impact boy babies by introducing hormones i guess could use lemongrass/peppermint for mild scent, would also use coconut oil/olive/grapeseed instead of baby oil
tea tree oil is available at walmart in the health and beauty section. You might also find it at a drug store. It is sold as an anti fungal medicine. My husband uses it on bug bites and athletes feet.
You can get it at most healthfood stores; I get mine at Wholefoods. It's not too expensive because you are only using a few drops at a time. The small bottle lasted me almost 2 years.
Christina Chornomud you obviously paid no attention to the video, because he clearly used baby oil AND tea tree oil. the smell is only strong if you use too much, however he CLEARLY said to only use 3-5 drops to 1 cup water. olive oil and baby oil are not antibacterial.
@emilysmommy4ever2009 I buy my cloth diapers from Green Mountain Diapers. They are excellent and have lasted and lasted, they look like new. I have "Thirsties" for a wrap. Much cheaper, and no diaper rash. Only recommendation is going with disposables when they sleep, because they will pee a lot and wake up in the middle of the night with cloth diapers..
@matthewsmomma07 It's not really JUST about saving money; my daughter feels "wet" in cloth diapers; but not in the disposable; and so she will start jumping up and down when she's wet; and so potty training is coming along swimmingly. We have a 2nd kid on the way; and so since we already bought cloth diapers; the savings will double; they last and last and last; we just took the small ones out of storage the other day to see; and still looks like new.
Hi Alex, it's enough, give it about 20 minutes. You won't need to turn it over, the paper towel distributed fairly evenly, or at least the brand I'm using
Any health food store should sell essential oils. I'm in Detroit and near me, we have Whole Foods, the Natrual Food Patch and Nutri Foods. I need only take my pick. A nice combination is trea tree oil and lavender in my shampoo. I would without the lavender essential oil and baby oil, the tea tree oil alone would be too harsh.
I dont get how this saves you money coz when you run out of the towels you gotta buy more and you have to buy the good ones or they will just fall apart and i find buyin baby wipes is actually cheaper than the towel or is that just me?
@Phatbaby1011 Don't know why either.. But to the best of my knowledge, I'm the only person on earth with a video introducing this. It's not just a money saver; but the fact that your baby won't have a rashy bottom, and you know EXACTLY what went into it.
..there is some type of glue or sticky stuff on the tube...I always throw the last one on tube away because of this....even toilet paper tubes have it so I don't use the last bit on it either
the biggest issue other than price is controlling those nasty diaper rashes from the chemicals in disposables and wipes, my grand daughter has a bad one now and my grand son also gets them from time to time thank God he'll be out of them soon as he's two now and doing well in potty training
@matthewsmomma07 She's 6.5 months. She pees.. A LOT. Like an average of 25 diaper changes a day. Average disposable diaper is 40 cents. So that's $10 per day!! She's almost 200 days, and so that's $2000! OUCH. I launder my own diapers; and my water bill has gone up about $5/month from it. Diapers cost me about $500 total, including the bigger sizes she hasn't started to wear yet.
Get a Spaloo bidet seat and you won't need toilet paper! You'll be cleaner than you ever imagined. Water cleans better, feels better, and is more sanitary than toilet paper. Get that fresh just stepped out of the shower feeling everytime you use a Spaloo!
for MELISSA CASTILLO Puerto rican mami lol gurantee your on welfare because your last names Spanish, people who have to work hard for there money every $1 counts, putting in more time at work. sorry you don't understand that tu ENTIENDO ahora?!

this is great im pregnant with our 3rd and just now thinking of cloth diapering and making my own babywipes! such a money saver!
You did such a great job on this video. Very clear diction, and the captions are a nice touch.
This is great. I dont know why i didnt think of this. I also dont know why no one responded to this..Such a money saver!!!!

That is very interesting way of creating baby wipes! neat trick! I might try it
This would work well with cloth wipes as well. Thanks for the video!

This seems awesome but isnt the shampoo bad to use if its not being rinsed off?
I love this idea! I wonder if they will stay moist in my wipe warmer since it's not air tight. Is there an alternative to the Tea tree oil that will keep the mold off?
Can I put these in a wipes warmer? Awesome tutorial. Thank you!!
Hi Albert- First: thank you. Second: It doesn't look like the liquid has suffused the entire half-cut roll. Will it eventually? Should/Do I need to turn the roll over and repeat the process?
Ian Long, Toilet Paper is designed to "fall apart when wet" so it doesn't clog septic tanks so you can't use it.
Hi
if i use cocunut oil instead of baby oil ?

how long would these last on a shelf? for example if you were to make a multiple batches and store them?

does the container size matter if it's big is it ok
Going to try this, thank you.

tea tree oil is so strong, to use on a baby is this ok?
can i use cloth wipes?
Im gonna make these for my baby boy

@twoblink WOW! how old is your baby?
Great video thank you..!

love this. thank you
Even better, scrap the paper towels and use baby washcloths! Even more economical and less waste!
This works better if you use cloth wipes and wash them after using so you can reuse them. that would be how to save money.
Sharp NON serrated edge knife worked best. Left a cleaner edge.

Use either olive oil or sunflower oil.

its not tea tree oil...its olive oil or baby oil. i pray you did not use tea tree oil on your cash and prizes that smell is sooo strong
It's not because I want to be cheap, it's because I want to know what ingredients go in the wipes; and NONE of them list it.
I thought you were supposed to take the core off after you let it sit in the water solution
He took it off before
it's easier if you let it soak and it comes right off.
@matthewsmomma07 I did the math; and going cloth diapers has saved me a few thousand dollars already! So any questions you have about it; I can help!
@matthewsmomma07 She's 6.5 months. She pees.. A LOT. Like an average of 25 diaper changes a day. Average disposable diaper is 40 cents. So that's $10 per day!! Careful though, as vegetable oils might go rancid..
Just a comment, wear gloves touchy the paper towel dew our hands have germs,or have everything prepare then wash your hands again showing the steps.
Then don't drink it! As a topical, it's fine.
Hi
use organic coconut oil... instead of the baby oil... baby oil typically contains mineral oil which is NOT good.. please do research on mineral oil..
Unless u use homemade baby oil :=
U a baby daddy hehe
You aren't putting an insane amount.

No reason you can't.
Who pissed on my toilet paper!
Just buy them don't be cheap
who can send me some baby wipes
I would gear away from baby oil. but thumbs up
+Milan Rochens I use coconut oil
+bowler8 I heard coconut oil isn't really good for baby girls, but I only read. how is it?
This was boring
