I remember those days on the straw wagon, when the bales weighed more than I did. In the hot sun itching like crazy. I loved every minute of it. But not so much now in my senior years.
The unmistakable growl of the Farmall 1256 bailing the straw brought back memories of of the Super M we had on a small Ohio farm in the 60's. Thanks, BTP.
Brings back fine memories. I sold many parts for those vintage IH machines at our dealership as a teenager in the 70's. Rode a hay wagon like that too, but by myself. When you were doing that back stack you better be hustling cause that next bale was coming off the tray! lol

Thanks BTP👍liking IH old school harvesting, I would be happy with this setup any day. We use to have CaseIH 2188 what awesome harvester, still got our CaseIH 215 Magnum pulling 18t chaser bin but chasing CaseIH red top 8010.
I love seeing these older tractors. It's a huge credit to the manufacturers of that time. I'd be extremely surprised if in 50 years time we see 9RX in a genuine workhorse operation!!
Another great video! We harvested wheat with a John Deere 30 combine pulled with an IH 674 gas tractor back when we had a small dairy farm in the 1970s and 1980s. Took a long time to cut wheat!
That 2+2 is about maxed out on that cart when it is full.. Rolled a lot of straw with 1086 and a 435 Deere baler. Stacked my share of square bales too...
I rode past two beautiful wheat fields one field had some wheat knocked down I'm hoping to see the harvest it's east of Peterborough Ontario in otonabee south monaghan beautiful farm they have big tractors combines its exciting to watch the harvest I seen it five years ago
Can’t get over that immaculate 1256!! What year was that? Would love to have a 1256 and a big wing disk, to piddle around with again! That chrome stack reminds me of the 12 we tractor pulled, once the crop was in. We ran a 1256, a 1456, a Steiger 4WD, a couple 806’s, along with a 7700 series JD Combine, planting & harvesting 3,000+ acres irrigated corn, soybeans and wheat every year, in the 70’s.
My Dad and I used a Wood Brothers Forde powered 6 ft combined. Pulled by a 1951 Farmall M tractor, we baled the straw with a John Deer 14T baler pulled by a Super H Farmall tractor. We only had a 9 acre allotment on our farm. I Jackson County, Michigan.

I harvest wheat with a JI Case 660 combine. Bale straw with a IH 656 turbo powering an IH 430 all-twine Baler. Pull wagons with either a Farmall H or IH 574.
I do winter wheat, harvest with a Gleaner S78 and i bale the straw with my NHt6080 with a large square baller Hesston 4755. Before the Gleaner i had a 2166 and 2388.
I love your videos but I’m from Louisiana and farming is so much different here in the future you should do a videos about farming in the south bc enjoy watching your videos
I’m baling straw behind a JD 9510 with a Case 2290 tractor with a JD 348 baler and Kuhn accumulator. Then using a Kuhn tie grabber to load wagons and trailers for transport
Harvest winter wheat in Western OK with a Gleaner M2 and a Gleaner N5. The wet weather has resulted in us being unable to harvest everything. We have an entire field we weren't able to enter and part of the field (that we have to pass through to get to the untouched field) that are too wet to support a combine and are getting sprout damage.
Wonder if it is cheaper to have a well equiped shop with full time mechanic to maintain old equipment as opposed to new with all of the mega buck bells and whisles. Thinkng yes
that 2+2 is awesome and sounds great...along with the 1256. BTW where do you find help to put straw up that way anymore?! Never really cared for the sound of Case IH combines (engine/exhaust).
They are nice IH tractors to see and hear in action. The 2188 has a Cummins engine the IH DT engines in the 1400 and early 1600 Axial Flows have a good sound.

LOVE the 2+2 on the grain cart!! We had a 3388 back in the early 80" as our 'big tractor' and it was a great.

We’re still using a ‘96 Case 2188 with a 25’ Macdon header in West Memphis, AR.

Still using the Gleaner E combine. Bale the straw with a 1952 John Deere A and 14T baler. Sometimes we put. 1960 John Deere 3020 on the baler instead.

Time will tell. The tractors of the 60’s and 70’s sure were built to last.
The older equipment was Easer to repair for the farmers;just call the dealer for the parts and then pick them up.
Ever since I was a kid growing up on the farm, I have loved the smell of freshly harvested wheat.
It’s a great time of year in the field.

The weight paint scheme came from the local IH dealer. All the tractors they sold had that look. Pretty neat.

Per your comment request, I harvest winter malting barley and use a restored Allis Chalmers All-crop 60 for seed and a Gleaner L2 for for the rest.

I'll be doing a small field of oats this fall with my 766 pulling a 914 and will be dumping into a 1950 Chev grain truck

Very very cool. The first farm machine I ever got to ride on was a Case 1060. I am a Case combine fan.

The baler behind the 1256 could have been offset one more notch on the swing hitch so that the tractor tires didn’t flatten any of the wheat straw.
That 430 has the short tongue. That may be all you get

It is an M. My friend Bill filmed this. He was moving the wagons and filmed from the tractor seat.
