Jokic leads Denver in ppg, apg, rpg, spg, bpg, fg% and I'm not sure about 3pt% but he's definitely close. He has almost 2x than the second best in each of the five major statistical categories. MVP.
I’m glad Charles brought up Embiid. I don’t think he’s the front runner, but I haven’t seen people giving him credit for how unbelievable he’s been playing recently. Definitely in my top 3 right now.
Giannis and Joker have these stats in roughly 32-33 minutes per game and they are really close in numbers. It's quite obvious that they contribute the most to their teams respectively, with Bucks having the greater record however. So yes, when 2 players are this close stat-wise, wins should play a role. + The fact that EVERY defense in the league is literally afraid of Giannis, offense too.
Giannis has a full roster and still 4th IN THE EAST. If he was missing Middleton and jrue all season the bucks would be lucky to make the playoffs. Nuggets 6th in THE WEST with no MPJ and no Jamal Murray at all this season. If winning should be weighted that much then derozan and cp3 should be the front runners.

I think the problem is everybody has their own measuring tape when it comes to what is a MVP. If there was a solid, good definition of this, 90% of the arguments would fly out the window.
I don't think any team is more dependent on a single player than Denver. Throw The Joker out and they are flat out dog water. So, the Joker is my MVP. LeBron should be higher too.
The competition also matters. Some big games against top teams like the Nets and Warriors. They have a tough stretch with Memphis and Bulls. He shows up for those two he is the best player right now for sure.
Id say giannis just because he seems to still be improving as a player while already being an MVP talent, that same case can be made for embiid and jokic too. Shoutout to Steph and KD too they killin it gonna be a good race this year!
Straight disrespected, Joker clearly has the better stats OVERALL but his teammates aren’t able to keep up. That doesn’t change the fact joker is playing insanely well across the board. It’s the MPV award not the most valuable player on a successful team award
Yup. It’s really not even close. Joker is willing his team to wins as a point center, and playing great defense as well. They just stomped my Blazers and it was Joker that carried them through the first half. He makes everyone around him better. Made Jeff Green look like an all star tonight.
It's so crazy that the league has become so shooting and guard-dominated but the past 3 MVPs have been either a Forward or Center lol! #BigMenStillMatter
But those big men plays like a guard now. Jokic is a point center. Embiid spends a lot of time outside the paint and shoots a lot of jumpers and 3s. And Giannis mostly faces the basket and drives 10-20 feet away from the basket.
No point if you're not helping your team win. Answer this. If two players averaged 28/10/6 on 50% shooting but one players team record was 55-27 and the other was 27-55, who are you going for MVP and why?
I gotta disagree. That kind of thinking is how you get players like Westbrook. Just stay padding their stats so they think they’re the best. Nah, you gotta bring wins to your team. If anything they need to bring in win shares into it and definitely turn overs.
As the Most Valuable Player, your value still should be shown with how your team plays. If you're scoring 27 ppg and your team is garbage regardless of whether or not you play, your 27ppg loses value.

LeBron missed too much time so I would replace him with Morant. I think Joker and Giannis should be top two and then Curry given who they haven't had due to injuries on their team. KD has Harden. Derozan had a stacked starting 5 right now and Embid also missed too much time. Consistency is important not just getting hot for the last month or so. If you actually understand any of those analytics, you would see that those methods are flawed and can be manipulated. Jokic is manipulating them very well. Jokic goes fishing for efficient shots, that's why his field goal percentage is high. He run the offense, he can pick great shots for himself and then pass it to the other guy if he doesn't feel like it. That's different from Giannis or Embiid who plays according to their point guard running the show. If the guard made a bad set, it forces Embiid or Giannis to take the tough shot, because they're the best players. And they play like that for a reason, both Giannis and Embiid don't have the skill of a point guard. Jokic efficiency relies on the Nuggets catering to his style of play, you put for example Chris Paul on that team and Jokic efficiency will drop, because he has to play according to Chris Paul running the team, less assists, his field goal will drop because he'll have to take tougher shots depending on the sets that the other guy run. Jokic is a good player, but he's manipulating analytics. Last year he averaged 27, this year he averaged 27. Same assist stats, a few more rebounds, not that impactful for a center. Everybody who plays know that if your best players are out, you have to score more points, because you're the best. Jokic didn't do that. He stayed the same, because only that way, can he be efficient. We see this all the time, good players stepped up when needed. 2020-21, Steph Curry stepped up when both Klay and Durant is out, averaging 32 from his normal 25 2018-19, Chris Paul came back from an injury, so James Harden stepped up, scoring 36 from his normal 29 2021-22, Lebron James have to carry the load due to Anthony David being out and Russel Westbrook being bad, he averaged 30 from his last year 25 Jokic pad his stats in a modern way, he does it discreetly, refusing to take tough shots , refusing to change, you keep your efficiency high but your team suffers, that's modern stat padding.

Steph definitely ain’t the front runner off the last month of play. He’s been shooting awfully.
@@VINAKA_Jr 😂😂😂😂 Kyrie isn't close to top 10
KD is carrying his team. Harden has been out of shape. Irving is a part time player.
Glad Ernie brought up what Mike Malone said about Joker being disrespected as the MVP, I don't understand the hate towards Joker, but numbers don't lie
But wins do??? Get out of here. Giannis had the best record in the nba twice when he won MVP back-to-back. Also best PER ever. Jokic needs to maintain to the rest of the year and win more games
Kenny’s analogy was so weird and out of place that it made me burst of laughing.
..kenny talks just to get air time
It made sense to me
He made no sense cuz he’s talking top 5 as if the convo was about the whole career lol , the convo is MVP of this season
@@joseph5589 That nonsense made sense to you?? Clowns that aren't funny should be on ESPN
I can rarely figure out what point Kenny is trying to make …
I am not an NBA fan at all, but I love watching these guys. Great stuff!
Titles like "GOAT" and "mvp" are always gonna be heavily debated because there's no absolute criteria...that's what makes the topic so entertaining.
If it was an individual award, Shaq would’ve won MVP 4 straight years. Mike would’ve won 8 straight years. LeBron would’ve won 10 straight years. The award as it exists doesn’t go to the best player, it goes to the most valuable for that season.
And of course it’s highly subjective and heavily influenced by the media
Uhmm no Lebron would have won 5 straight.
It IS AN INDIVIDUAL AWARD!!!!
@@ceantemporas1301 Tell em
Lebron should have won '08,09,10,12,13 ('11 is a toss up) Jordan should have won 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93 for sure and 96, 97 was a toss up but he probably also should have won those years
"No one walks around saying I'm number 6!" 😂😂
Haha but Jokic will win 2 MvP 💯😜
Over the last 11 games, Embiid has averaged 32/5/ 9.6/ 4.5 splits on 54.1% shooting. I think that's MVP-worthy as Charles has mentioned but you'd have to take into account the entire season overall. Objectively, Jokic is the MVP but his team barely being above the .500 mark is hurting his chances of repeating.
yeah. 11 games wins you mvp.
How can you be the mvp and your team is barely over .500 Embiid steph giannis morant all over jokic
The mvp.is a full season award
Even if u count the last 10 games giannis had same or even ebtter stats than embiid
@@kungfufemafam9216 did you not read the part where I wrote "but you'd have to take into account the entire season overall"? Lol. That's me saying that you have to take into consideration the entire season and not just the past 11 games. We're arguing the same thing.

I agree more with Shaq. Players who are having the best individual seasons. And that is in my opinion:
1. Jokic
2. Giannis
3. KD
4. Morant
5. Embiid
6. LeBron
7. Luka
8. Steph
9. Lavine/Derozan
10. Mitchell
I love how Shaq is so Giannis fan,
he got his back 😂
Ima have to agree with Shaq it’s about the individual the League too good to say one person carry a team to top 4
If that’s the case then Trae young is top 3 MVP, he’s the only dude in top 5 scoring and assists on good efficiency too, what would u say about that ?
@@ChaposShoota Shaq said playoff team, Atlanta now is currently in 12.
Chuck and Kenny only wants players from top 4 teams.

I guess Kevin Durant, the most consistent MVP the whole year, doesn’t exist?
How are all 3 of these players above KD in the MVP discussion? Mental

GREEK FREAK For mvp
@@lh1533 Giannis has a strong supporting cast behind him. Joel is single-handedly dragging his team kicking and screaming to the playoffs.
And still not the best center in the league and he never will be until Joker is around.
What am I supposed to do about Jokic? Dude is unreal when you watch his impact and analytics
2020-21, Steph Curry stepped up when both Klay and Durant is out, averaging 32 from his normal 25
2018-19, Chris Paul came back from an injury, so James Harden stepped up, scoring 36 from his normal 29
2021-22, Lebron James have to carry the load due to Anthony David being out and Russel Westbrook being bad, he averaged 30 from his last year 25
Jokic pad his stats in a modern way, he does it discreetly, refusing to take tough shots , refusing to change, you keep your efficiency high but your team suffers, that's modern stat padding.
I do not watch basketball. I don't have a clue about the NBA...I randomly found myself on this site...and I can't stop watching. It's pure joy to watch these Fella's. Geaux Tigahs!!!
Bro, they tripping KD is the MVP at this very moment and I believe will end up being MVP at the end of the season.
No he’s not 😂
he should be the MVP but he will not win it because our record wont be as good as GSW and he won't have to carry as much due to kyrie coming back and harden playing better.
Giannis has better numbers than KD while playing 6 less minutes. How is he the MVP?
@@TheAnswer_13 And the anchor of the Bucks defence.
Jokic is the obvious MVP. 26pts, 14rb and 7 assists is insane.
Nuggets 6 seed. Giannis is my MVP, unless nuggets get in the 4 spot or above
its what you expect when your second greatest player is arron gordon. Everybody else in the debate has a way better team and are playing around the same splits.
@@llkingproductionsl2154 Jokers teammates aren’t great as the Warriors or Bucks. However, if we overlook the record then the MVP would go to guys like Ruthell Wethbrick who have great stats but aren’t on a top contender. Russell puts up stats but I wouldn’t dare trust him to win me a championship.
Im not comparing Russell to Jokic, he was just used to get my point across. As to why we take record into consideration
U gotta look at the whole situation, not just list basic stats.... giannis defense puts him right up there even tho joker has slightly higher numbers, it's not "obvious" no matter who u got
Jokic is MVP!
“Vanilla ice sitting at home minding his own business “
I think Embiid should be in the conversation. Last weeks he was healthy and one of the best in the league. But he had a light schedule (not too many games, no b2b, Not the good teams). So he Need to show this level the next couple of months. Steph had an great Run, but slumping actually, Giannis is killing it and Jokic is probably the best but his Team lacks of quality right Now. KD was amazing also. I am Not Sure right Now. Give it to Chris Paul. The Point god got die suns at the top and is playing every game. Respect!
Jokic and curry could literally take a water break every defensive possession and only play during offense and their fans would still think they are better than everyone

Jokic is one of the highest rated defensive players this year..
Jokic is 2nd in defensive BPM
Every Year! Every year it’s the same debate yet STILL entertaining
I Get Shaq's Points. Kawhi and Andre Iguodala Won Finals MVP they didn't have the BEST numbers during the series but they somewhat "GUARDED / SLOWED DOWN LEBRON" in a sense so they were awarded MVP but their numbers don't add up. And only one year I think Jerry West got finals MVP on the LOSING team in the finals .
MVP has fluctuated over the years but with SO MANY TOP players NOW , its only right to award it to the player whos PRODUCING on the most winning team.
It fluctuates when Media gove it to Nash twice, Nash have nice record with just an above average numbers, But chris Paul did the same too with better numbers than nash and Hornets end top 2-3 for 3 years and he didnt win one. Now they awarded westbrook because of stat line and not avg winning lol. Its subjective, way back in 98 MJ lose to Karl where MJ has better numbers and winning record lol
I mean holding Lebron to under 40% from the field is definitely slowing down. That’s horrendous
There's a big difference between the regular season MVP and the Finals MVP
