Your reactions were so wholesome. The song and video are the epitome of good vibes. You guys are learning why Janet is so legendary and revered. This was her first #1 and from the legendary Control era. So many hits from that album. The version of the song in the video is the video mix, slightly different from the album version.
This is Janet first No. 1 ever! That was October 1986, her 3rd single from "Control" Album! It changed her entire carrier... I danced on Halloween Night this Athen madly! 😂😂😂😂
You guys should’ve watched her videos chronologically 😂 because she grew up with every album and became a young woman. You can clearly see her change in every era. Like the change from this to “If” is massive 😅 I truly love every era. JANET IS THE BLUEPRINT
I tell them everytime. Go through the discography and by release order. It’s the only way to see an artists growth. And with Janet especially. They hop around so much and decades it’s so disappointing
If you like this video, you’ll love Alright and Escapade. I miss Janet’s dancing in the street type videos 😂. Runaway is another good one, but rather than dancing in the street, she’s dancing all over the world.
High school. We would blast this song in the halls in between classes and do The Snake. Gosh those days were wild. I call these clips old Earth era. When I was growing up dudes would hang out and be sitting on other people's cars. My mom would be like, "Off my shit boys". Hahaha. It was common place in the old earth days.
This song was her first no. 1 hit. I always felt the style of the video reminded me of a Paul Cadmus painting. Paula’s Choreography was amazing. Plus the video was a one take continuous shot I believe.
Another Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced joint. The director of the video is Julien Temple. He directed several great pop culture films during the 80s and 90s. It was shot to look like one continuous long shot. He also directed the video for Alright.
I want Janet to stop being so cute in this video! She's such a baby here! 🥰Thank you Elvis Freshly (sp) for your generous donation. The world is a literal dumpster fire and I'm sure we ALL needed this extra Janet week to pep us up! Mike is giving 80s realness in his neon pink shorts.🤣Imma need Joe to get on board with an electric green headband! Is it actually Janet 80s week or just the 'Control' album? Anyone? Bueller? 'Cause I think the boys would get a kick out of that 'Black Cat' video from the 'Rhythm Nation' album. She was in her rock vibe! I always looked at that as the sister video to MJ's 'Dirty Diana'.
This video was such a great accompaniment to her first number one song. It kind of established that youthful and playful image that Janet had in the 80’s. She was the perfect little sister to Michael’s image. This video was choreographed by Paula Abdul but is very much in the style of Michael Kidd who also worked on it. He was famous for those 1940’s and 50’s musicals with big dance numbers like Oklahoma and Guys and Dolls. The sailor fight and their stylized walk kinda pays homage to that. Such an amazing video.
If you thought this one was fun...check out "Alright"....it's essentially the same concept and still 80s, but a bigger budget, fancier set and more sophisticated choreography.
My favorite Janet video. It always makes me happy. The only cuts I see are after she slides down the banister and when her picture is taken. Janet just lights up the screen!
It's colorful because the 80s WERE colorful. The clothes...we wore pastels, neons, etc. And yes, it was a big soundstage and supposed to look like one single take, but look closely and you can tell where the jump cuts are.
Fingers Crossed... The person who curated this was smart enout to put "Together Again" in the top 5. Awesome song ang beautiful video set in the Serengeti. My fave jj song. It's happy.
This was Janet’s first #1 hit in 1986. Paula Abdul was the was the choreographer, and the two kids that you said were dressed up like newspaper boys are actually Janet’s nephews; Tito’s sons.
Would love for y'all to react to the 1986 " Control " live performance at the billboard awards. The choreography, the look, the performance, next level. Hopefully someone requests it. Great reaction as usual.
this is one of the lists in the best choreographed music videos of all time, this and Madonna's human Nature and Daft Punk's Around the world AND Janet's Rhythm Nation. You guys should check that out too!
This just brightens my day! This song and video are very special to me because I remember this being the moment I became a die hard fan… to this day. Seeing your reactions take me back to that feeling of joy I felt.
You guys must absolutely watch Big Trouble In Little China! Such a classic 80s film. I always said that the video game creators of Mortal Kombat definitely based a few of the characters from there.
Now you have to watch her “Alright” video, which was inspired by 1930s and 50s musicals, and features stars from that era. The choreography is TOP TIER
The clothes line/laundry/neighbor round table of this is hands down the star of the review. The genuine concern for the drying of clothes is unmatched. Ha ha! Bravo! 👏👏 I think you may have found your next series.
Now they need to do Alright... those guys with the little handkerchief dance is a part in that video, I just noticed. Maybe not the same guys, but it connected to me😊
Sooo this is your sign to react to her live performances!!! They’re phenomenal! Suggestions: 5) “All Nite” Live on Air with Ryan Seacrest, 2004 4) Grammys 1986 3) “Velvet Rope” live from “The Velvet Rope Tour”, 1998 in New York 2) “Son Of A Gun” live from “The All For You Tour”, 2002 in Hawaii 1) 1993 VMA’s
I love that you are visiting older material. It shows you are not like other youngsters. I just wish you do more research before listening to music. You spend more time questioning things rather than reacting. I don't know if you two were home-schooled or lived in an Amish reservation that banned you from learning... but reading is actually fun. I wish you'd try it sometime.
Hi, I know people ask you to watch so many things, but it would really mean the world to me, other Aussies, and this amazing Aussie singer if you checked out some of her music videos. But I hope you guys get around to checking out the list for week 2. Much love & God bless 🙏🏾 🫶🏾🤍 ..
Actually 80s rap was fun and carefree with lots of dancing. It was the greedy record execs and the see-eye-aye that ushered in “gangsta rap” late 80s into the 90s. That’s my conspiracy theory at least.
I adore this album. My little 10 year old self listened to it on repeat. Looking back it was so joyful.
This is why Gen X was the MTV generation. We sat and watched videos like this for hours back in the 80's.
Yes! MTV was everything in the 80's! ❤
Agreed. MTV was always on in my bedroom when I was a teen in the 80s.
And recorded it on VHS to watch back over and over
Is Gen Z don’t got shiii
Hands down, best Janet Jackson song, and that’s saying something. Janet has not gotten the flowers she deserves in recent years.
The joy on both of your faces while you watched this video was awesome
I think the video did a fantastic job of visually expressing the pure joy and exhilaration she feels when she thinks of the subject of her song.
Your reactions were so wholesome. The song and video are the epitome of good vibes. You guys are learning why Janet is so legendary and revered. @@drewraygyes! It’s a huge difference to watch “If” first or after you’ve watched her 80s videos!
her smile is just so damn beautiful.
If "miss you much " is in the count down - you MUST DO THE EXTENDED "CHAIR SCENE" in the music video.
If you like this video, you’ll love Alright and Escapade. I miss Janet’s dancing in the street type videos 😂. Runaway is another good one, but rather than dancing in the street, she’s dancing all over the world.

She’s so cute! The amount of talent Janet has is incredible! Loved the reaction 🤩🤩

This video is like Part 2 of Julien Temples UK movie ' Absolute Beginners'
Back in the day, when Music Videos where like Movie Productions . . . Can't wait to you Review "Rythym Nation" . . .
I love you guys watching Janet. Do Little Mix

Btw, the kids in the beginning are her nephews.

The sailor walk is from popeye the sailor man cartoon 😂
Remember taping this video from tv. Definitely a launching point of her career into the stratosphere!
10 million albums sold with 7 singles on Control and she was just a young girl trying to hide all that body.
I hope Alright is part of this 5, although Miss You Much would also be satisfying.
If you thought this one was fun...check out "Alright"....it's essentially the same concept and still 80s, but a bigger budget, fancier set and more sophisticated choreography.
I just love these reviews....and I'm in love with these guys!!
My favorite Janet video. It always makes me happy. The only cuts I see are after she slides down the banister and when her picture is taken. Janet just lights up the screen!
That's a Popeye sailor walk. There's also a lot of 50s and 40s motifs as well.
It's colorful because the 80s WERE colorful. The clothes...we wore pastels, neons, etc. And yes, it was a big soundstage and supposed to look like one single take, but look closely and you can tell where the jump cuts are.
Also, if you watch Janet’s Alright music video, you’ll notice when I think of you is a continuation from this music video!
The style they wear and the routine they do at 1:36 is featured at the beginning choreo in Alright.
I hope "alright" is on the list😊
We loved videos back in the day. Taped them on our VCR too lol
Janet's video budget got way bigger between "What Have You Done for Me Lately" and this
Janet Jackson is coming to Las Vegas!
Don't you wish they still made pop music like this?
This videos was filmed in the mid 80s and it's a tribute to all the old school Hollywood musicals that inspired Janet ❤
The laundry clothesline convo is brilliant 😂
That was her 1st #1 at age 18. Have you noticed Paula Abdul in these videos?
This music video is one shoot by the way !! Janet is the blueprint. You can’t deny❤love her
I used to love this music video as a kid. Janet is the GOAT.
Fingers Crossed... The person who curated this was smart enout to put "Together Again" in the top 5. Awesome song ang beautiful video set in the Serengeti. My fave jj song. It's happy.
Together Again, If, Go Deep, Feedback, and All For You was requested by another subscriber during Janet week 1 😊

That kind of video , ..that's the way life should be !!!
This song and video are just so joyous! One of my all time favourites 😁
“Do you wanna shoot a line” sounds like something totally different than doing laundry 😂
This is Janet first #1 hit record!
🖤🖤🖤
Big budget videos, definitely the 80's
“I Get Lonely” next!
This was the 80s everyone:) such a fun time. Now we have WAP 😢 can’t be raunchy enough anymore
You guys must absolutely watch Big Trouble In Little China! Such a classic 80s film. I always said that the video game creators of Mortal Kombat definitely based a few of the characters from there.

Hi, I know people ask you to watch so many things, but it would really mean the world to me, other Aussies, and this amazing Aussie singer if you checked out some of her music videos. Cosima De Vito.
“Now that you can’t have me”
“One night without you”
“When the war is over”.
Her entire debut album (“Cosima”, from 2004) was written and produced by THE Diane Warren.
I know you will love her voice.
