I have a 2017 xDrive 28i Xline. I absolutely love this car. 88k miles and the only problem thus far was needing a new battery here a few weeks ago. Loads of features, comfy ride, and sporty enough when needed. It will cruise all day long at 100mph + without issue.
If you go with a 35i (N55 3.0L engine) I recommend 5,000 mile oil changes to help keep it healthy. I plan on making an update video soon-ish. My X3 is at 52K miles now and I haven't had any additional issues pop up that I didn't mention in this video.
I highly recommend a pre-purchase inspection with any used BMW or car in general. Going well. I'm at 48900 miles. Just DIY rotated the tires and did a brake fluid flush, still living with the very minor oil leak at the turbo. I clean it up every 3-4 months with brake clean and a couple of blue shop towels. I sent off an oil sample to Blackstone labs from the last oil change (5500 miles on the oil) and it came back very good. I'll probably be replacing the tensioner, pulleys and belt in the next couple of months. The tensioner is rattling a little bit. Planning on changing the transfer case fluid sometime this year as well, around 50k miles is recommended.
2017 model years after a certain build date, I recall it being late November 2016 have a slightly newer idrive/computer version and the ability to have Apple CarPlay activated through BMWs connected drive system for $300. @@shannonkosko2243 Congratulations! Don’t be surprised if you get ruined for other car brands based on how good it drives. Since I made this video I haven’t had any other issues. Just completed some normal maintenance items and installed some fresh tires before making a drive to Chicago and back and it was excellent on the trip. It has about 52K miles now.
Hi! I believe Apple car play was only available as an option to be added or "bought" for this generation of X3 after build date around December 2016 I believe. I'm not sure if technology package was required, I think just navigation and the bigger display was necessary. the coding was done from someone online through the Bimmerpost forum.
I've tracked ~15k miles on Fuelly over 54 fuel logs, best 28.8 mpg (I was basically hypermiling it on this one, ecopro mode driving below the 70-75 speedlimit on a 400+ mile drive to visit family), worst 16.4 mpg and I've averaged 23.1 mpg with about a 70% highway 30% city split. It can easily return teens if you drive spiritedly. I drive it pretty conservatively overall.
An meteor rear diff replaced on a less than six year old vehicle? 🥹. Turbo coolant leak? 🥹. On JDMs these are issues past 10 years plus. Flirting w/ an X3 but It’s these types of things that make me wary.
I totally understand. I only got this X3 because I've had the experience and a wealth of knowledge of what can go wrong. If you have the ability to have one under warranty, that's the best way to go unless you are confident in doing a lot of services and work on your own.
@@tyler951 I want to get an X3. Either an N52 or B58 one. I have a general view of the breadth of what can go wrong & I know I’m signing up for a different experience. I’ll not be able to get one under warranty so I also know the implications of that at least. I know I’ll eventually get used to it but still wary until then.
@@RadBunny2269 If you can swing a G01 X3 xDrive M40i with the B58, that is the one to have. I specifically wanted the F25 xDrive 35i because I like that you can have the powerful engine (N55) without it having to have the "mSport" look unlike the G01 and LCI G01 and I really liked the xLine appearance package. It lends some pretention to off road ability which works better for a SUV/SAV for me.

Hi - I’m planning to buy one with 90k miles . Did you get any problems with the car ?
Very nice! I just picked up a pre LCI X3 with the N52 and I am enjoying it so far
Thank you Soo much for sharing. Looking at a 16 x 3 35i

Been a year, how’s it going? Looking at the same model and year with 94k miles on it, clean carfax and maintenance history, two owners.

I have the same cars, and yes the 330 is a little more special to me too.
1:48 How did you have Apple CarPlay coded? At a shop or how would one do it?

@@tyler951 thanks for the great video! I'm getting my 2017 X3 next week and it's my first BMW. I'm so freaking excited!!

Its a large engine for a small car
Hi, is technology package required to get Apple car play? Could you please let me know how did you get it coded for Apple car play?
