Buddy of mine puts a broken trail camera on the main trail of his hunting property with another cam hidden just in case trespassers want to take the camera too! Nice vid 👌🏻
The other problem with the "holding trespassers at gunpoint" thing is that, depending on where you live, the Sheriff is as likely to arrest the land owner rather then the criminal.
The trespasser will say, "I didn't realize I had crossed on to his land until he brandished and pointed a gun at me." Now the land owner may get in trouble, unless they had posted and maintained signs every so many feet. Where I live someone told me each successive sign has to be visible from the previous one. That's one heck of a lot of signs. There is 40 acres next to us with electric barbed wire fence and they still had to put up all those signs.
Great topic...... You guys would appreciate this one.. after my 2nd disk was stolen in a mater of 2 weeks, I actually set a trail camera up relatively high in a hemlock and pointed it towards the same camera where the disk were being stolen... we caught the guy but this time instead of stealing the disk, he actually went in and deleted the pics on the disk that he thought got him on camera...it turned out to be my so called good neighbor... in the end, he said he did not want to steal the camera but he did not wanting me knowing he was walking his dog every evening in this particular area of our farm...I simply told him the days of free loading are over... but did not press charges as I coached his son in baseball... every neighborhood has its dynamics I suppose...
Where we live you must have No Trespassing signs at a specified interval around the entire perimiter to make charges stick. Having a camera video them passing a sign goes along way to prove their guilt.

@@philn5703 It is the law, not even the city is allowed. You need to apply to be allowed and permission is not given lightly. Personal integrity I think.
