Great show. Befor you install the winch. Take the cover off of the gear box. Pack in some grease. I like the red and tacky trailer bearing grease. It will quiete the gear drive and lubricat the gears. You might not need it. But it makes me feel better. Do not just pack it full. Just shove some extra in to make it work smoother. Justice every part that moves on your jeep. It needs some TLC to.
Nice video! I bought a Hyper Tough about a year ago and it's holding up really well. Pulled some big trees with it after a tornado, pulled myself up a big rock and it's holding strong. The other thing to note is the Hypertough has a 1 year warranty where the Harbor freight has only a 90 day warranty, at least that's what it was when I purchased mine.
Thanks man! Glad to hear it's holding up, and yes! That is still the case. 1 year warranty! Very good thing I should have noted! You can't really go wrong with either, but I always like saving money for things that are probably made in the same factory 😬😂
adding in a Cllena 250 Amp Circuit Breaker 12V-48V DC with Manual Reset to these winches can be good, but my warn up right 8274 8000 pound winch has never has such.y 1984 cj-7 jeep lives outside, been in deep snow, mud, 2 in ice on top of a deep water crossings.(does not hold a jeep, the winch mount was the ice breaker for the club ) as well as severe weather. gotten severe usage in all of that. never had a reason for a "fuse" in the system. in over 35 years of use. i can not even remember the co$t, but far less than today's pricing. it has payed for it's self may times over.
Ive Thought about getting a Circuit braker for the winch just incase there was ever a short in a wire or anything like that. But yes! they definitely do not make them like they used to!
Strikes me that the hyper tough is geared lower. Run it for 5 years. If it does die, buy another and you've invested similar money. I'd take that bet that it'll hold up. Walmart should stand behind it as well.
Literally my plan, run this until it dies! It's been holding up nicely and to me it looks nice a nice winch, no complaints so far! Thanks for watching 👍🤙🙏
Lowes and TSC sell the exact same ones. All just rebranded for each retailer. Walmart is cheapest. Look at the manuals and you'll see they're exactly the same from each store.
Hey bud I was watching your video on the hyper tough and I guess there's a pretty good winches so I'm going to get me one but I got a question to ask you your battery terminals where did you get your battery terminals at I need a couple that I could add to some extra stuff if you could help me out I really appreciate you thank you good video
Yeah I'm happy with my winch! It's been good for me for a few more times even! Here the exact battery terminals I have , love them! Just scuff up the insides where they hold onto the battery posts. amzn.to/3NMqYdG
that reach is a very bad thing, as you stated the remotes cause interference with each other. what else will cause "problems"? but dump that trash hook in the trash. use only full loop items like with plastic rope use those soft shackles. with quality wire rope buy and use only rated D-rings. and not all of the plastic rope is as strong as you think. buy it from sources that have ratings on them.
SO overall i have not had any issues with the remote control, even in a big off-roading event called trail hero. I used the winch several times and it worked flawlessly. but yes i agree that the hook is not safe or good. I actually only keep it on there for a second emergency option. Imagine im hooking onto a hard winch point on a trail, I will use a soft shackle to hook through the eyelet on the end of the winch line, and then the hook will also be hooked around the winch point. so if the hook fails, the soft shackle is also attached to the eyelet of the rope. also in other emergency situations where i need to quickly winch to something, i have the hook for last minute emergencies.

That's a good idea, I will have to take this guy apart to add some higher quality grease, thank you! 🤙🙏
Great review. Recently bought a hyper tough 12k. I think the right combo is the hyper tough for $329 with warn decals added for show and clout 😊
Haha thanks! And I 100% agree! Decals to keep "those" people happy 😂

Nicely done!

I believe the walmart winch is rebranded x power winch looks identical
I bet that was the brand I saw before. It looked the same as the Walmart branded winch. There probably more that just those two 😂😂
Lowes and TSC sell the exact same ones. All just rebranded for each retailer. Walmart is cheapest. Look at the manuals and you'll see they're exactly the same from each store.
So I wonder where it is made from probably not USA
I would guess not in the USA, but either way, it's probably the same for most of the other winches sold in the USA
True but some are worse than others
If you want to see what a REAL winch can do, you should compare it to a hydraulic winch (e.g. MileMarker)... 100% duty cycle...
Right! 100% duty cycle is crazy! I wish mine was thaaaat good!
I got my 12000 lbs Harbor fright for $350 apex badlands If you paid 650 used you got taken my friend
Currently the list price is $599 plus tax, 650 otd. If you wait for a good sale, yes you can get them cheaper. Or get the cheaper version.
Your right fir the synthetic line
