Good job! The only thing I would do different is to wrap the strap around the base of the bush a 2nd time. That way, as the strap tightens, so shall it tighten around the base of the bush and maybe keep it from sliding up as you pull.
I'm 15 minutes in so far, so maybe you already did this, but the only thing I'd do differently is to have both snatch blocks at the bush, and the end of the system anchored to the bumper. That raises the mechanical advantage from 3:1 to 4:1, from 3 lines to 4 lines coming off the bush, using the same number of snatch blocks. EDIT: And not meaning to criticize or downplay your success, at all. Just making an observation about pulleys and mechanical advantage. Your setup was more than equal to the task, and accomplished what you wanted. So that's a good day's work in anyone's book! Cheers!
Your video attracted me b/c I have 800 feet of barbed wire fence embedded with yaupon and other trash. I’m gonna use a winch to pull it out also. I’d use a choker chain on the stump and run the chain over the tire instead of all the rigging. then the rigging. fun video
Good job and demonstration of snatch blocks. Whole time was thinking I hope he knows where his gas line, electrical, sewer, and irrigation conduits are located. That’s a massive root. Hope your town has yard waste composting at the dump
Nice xj I like the fact you kept the turbine rims on it... I used my jeep winch 3 times to get my jeep unstuck , once to get my old furnace and oil tank out of the basement and six times doing what you just did
I do full time landscape construction 01 xj daily driver great how you incorporated your jeep here youve helped me fix things in other videos too cheers man 🍻
Get further back from the pull. The less wraps on the drum of the winch the greater the pulling power. The tire as a redirect. Lower the air pressure. It will act more like a groove for the line. When using my winch for face posts I have a 10 foot cable for the winch. 5 foot on the drum the other over a tire to the base of the post with a small section of chain to connect.
Should always use a damper blanket draped over the cables under tension, in case one snaps. The weight of the blanket will greatly reduce the risk from whiplash injuring you.
I also hate yard work but this video inspired me!! I’ve been able to straight pull some small stuff with my JK. Next weekend is snatch blocks and the tire trick.
Well done! I was impatient to laught about seeing the tire compressed like a spring going on an unpredictable trajectory, ending its flight at an unknown destination... Fortunately, that did not happen. Keep it safe, (sarcasm)😊😅
I see this is a older video but I just found your channel...but I'm sure your aware when ever you set up the hook you always want the open side facing up...I noticed your leaving the closed end up...if the rope ever brakes if the closed end is facing up the hook will travel in that direction.....other than that I really enjoyed the video....Thank You for sharing
Heads up to be real careful when pulling things stumps so close to a structure. depending on species & age you could be ripping out a chunk of your foundation.
Not good to use the soft shackles with the snatch blocks with sharp edges. The apex one has nice smooth edges to prevent cutting. now get a winch line extension for a 4:1 using a spanish burton

Interesting, being new to this, how would you rig a 4:1 using 2 snatch blocks?
That’s the most impressive stump removal video I’ve seen to date- makes me wanna go out and buy a Jeep now! And a winch! Awesome 👏
I was just waiting for that tire to pop or to see a big chunk of foundation come up too.

Nice job Joey.I have a tree stump in my backyard, now I know how to get rid of it..😁😁💪👍👍
Thank you!!!! Hope u get your stump out with your winch. It’s too much fun.

I did this with my cherokee and used the rear towing hook and the result was the tree stump got loose but i need a new rear hatch and window
Oh man. Hopefully it’s all fixed up. Thanks for watching.

Thank you very much for watching. Glad you find these videos helpful. Always fun to find reasons to use the mighty XJ in daily life.

I have a 1988 Comanche and I'm afraid to winch on it too hard. How many bolts are used to mount your front bumper ?
Nice job👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome video honey. You are sooooooooo talented. ❤️
OMG thank you so much!!!
That tire scared me - very impressive- I was ROOTING for you- sorry I had to say it-
Great video. pulling out trees with a Jeep!!! Oh yeah!!!!
OMG thank you so much!!!

it only nessesary on steel cable. Plastic has not that much tension if it breaks.

Looks like fun for yardwork
Fore go the basket attachment, and choke the stump at the base of the root ball.
Winch has the most pulling power with like only a wrap or two on the spool. Just saying. Good job.
Put a short choker over the tire so the winch and pulley are in a straight line. Just speaking as a having heavy rig gigging experience. Nice job.

It's a Jeep thing!
Some people just don't understand!!!
Pulling roots that close to your slab can be catastrophic.
Killer video!!!!!!
OMG thank you so much!!!

That’s a good point. Would really be a bummer if I pulled out the root ball and the basement.
Glad there's no plumbing in all that.
Awesome
I have a smallish tree in my front yard and I’ve thought about using this method to pull up the stump. Did the wheel survive without getting warped?
Nice video. You should definitely put a damper on the cables for safety, especially with family around.
Synthetic cables just drop and don't store energy like steel cables.
I guess I have a stupid question what is with the bum bum bum the the winch why not just pull the stump
I Would imagine Pulling Boulders would be the Same Principle.
Not sure i understand why he was pulsing the winch instead of a continuous pull.

I want to leave a comment but I’m stumped as what to say
Haha. You win the internet tonight. 🌳
Anyone ever tell you that you sound a little like Alan Alda?
don't dead head to the winch if anything else is available. Would be more efficient if you had dea headed to the tree behind the jeep.
Bad ass
Don’t think that’s such a good idea
Hooking to the front of your vehicle and the back is a good way to bend the frame
You need to watch some videos of folks that actually know what they re doing.
Thanks for watching the video!
I'm clicking off of this as soon as I hear the music and intro who has that time to waste
That’s what the little slider on the bottom of the video is for
