- The boat ramp at Black Point Marina gets really weird when someone gets behind me and starts filming me. The person wasnt very close but it was still very weird.

Dang Skippy!! Alfred you are spot on with those Hog nose snapper for Friday night supper! I catch them on occasion here off North Carolina. Live bottom offshore of Frying Pan tower is a good area to catch em. Cigar minnow or squid on a chicken or carolina rig will do!

I had to get a hog back from The Dade Marine Institute to Cutler Ridge on the Metro. Wrapped it in a news paper and got on the bus. About ten minutes into the ride my fish came to life and flapping out of my lap onto the floor and two older women went screaming to the front of the bus. Because old people and hippies had to ride in the back. It was racist times 😅

Slot limit sizes are used to protect the bigger breeder female fish of the species. People that target the big breeders are screwing themselves years down the line cause there will be fewer big genetics from spawning pairs. Besides gag grouper over 30 some inches are inferior table fare compared to slot sizes. The best I prefer are sheepshead & 15"+ mangrove snapper. 20 years ago we used to catch & release snook over 4 feet long. Biggest I hooked using a big pumpkin fish we could not get to the 12 foot jonboat using a 8 foot tarpon rod, that snook exceeded 5 feet & its mouth could have engulfed a basketball. You rarely see snook like that anymore.

Nice hogfish and why does almost every boat at the ramp have an outboard engine and hardly anyone but the go fast boats have inboard outboard engines I guess it’s easier and cheaper to replace an outboard vs inboard outboard engine
