    I love the fire in Ruiz's unfettered playing. His Schulhoff is one of the very few professional recordings of the composer in existence that I'm aware of. And Ruiz's recordings include other great unsung pieces of the Romantic era (eg Hiller), as well as more familiar fare like Rachmaninov. And there's something about the sound of these recordings that you don't get nowadays, a kind of rawness which is eschewed in this generation for a more 'perfect' produced sound.

      They sound human. You can actually hear how difficult it is.

      Adrian is perfect! The clarity of his recordings is amazing. His playing is not immersed in reverb and non stop pedal. He never allowed an edit. If a change was wanted or needed, he would play an entire piece over from start to finish.

    am i the only one that thinks op.13 no.1 sounds like winter wind by chopin?

    Sounds like he was a Whole Beat composer

    • @AEPMUSlC
      @AEPMUSlC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What makes you think that? Isn't that about metronome markings?

    • @tarikeld11
      @tarikeld11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AEPMUSlC in my ears the pieces sound very rushed and don't really make sense. It's just my opinion, I don't know if it's true or not

      @@tarikeld11 I thought the whole whole beat theory was about interpreting metronome markings. Basically, seeing "allegro ♩=120" but plays it like ♩=60. There are no such indications here in any of the pieces so it's up to the pianist what e.g "molto vivace" means for the piece. I agree some of these are on the faster side, at least the 2 first etudes, the rest sounds pretty normal to me (and the galop is lit).

    • @tarikeld11
      @tarikeld11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AEPMUSlC Well, are you sure there are no historic metronome markings at all? Not in the score, but maybe the pianist knows any historic metronome numbers

    • @tarikeld11
      @tarikeld11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AEPMUSlC Nah, the polka and the last pieces are also very fast. The Andante Cantabile feels more like an Allegretto for me. I know, it's just a thought, but I would play them much slower.
