@@BenRobson123have you been to krakow Ben ? I say that and Prague are similar but krakow just edges it for me. Well especially for being cheaper and having more pubs 😂
Great video. They are nutria. I used to have one that lived near my home in lake. It would follow me each morning to get his daily taste of corn.

Oh yes, been there last year. So beautiful, especially in summer! In loving memory i call it the "Prague effect" whenever a less popular city is surprisingly good whereas on the other hand you have the "Paris syndrome" if an overhyped city like Paris itself is a lot more ugly than you expected

I had the "Paris syndrom" when I've been to Vienna, I expected something much prettier after all I heard about that city, but for me as a someone born in Prague, it was disapointment.
I don´t want to disappoint you, but the animal you call beaver is not a beaver, its nutria. Beavers are usualy living close to river forestst. Its easy to recognise beaver after his flat tait. Nutria has tail simmilar to rat. ;)
ha thank you David. I would have never known, I just googled it, you’re right. I did think they just looked like big rats, I thought they were cute until I saw their teeth 😅
@@BenRobson123 yeah, nutrias are kind of similar to beavers. You can see nutrias in many European cities by the rivers, they are not afraid of people, expecially if the people go to feed them. 😉
@@davidpelc I just googled, it says beavers are around 3 times the size of nutria!😧 And yes haha, they were very close to the people! Thanks David 😁

Thank you for this very nice video. I do not want to ruin it for you, but that large rat was a nutria, not a beaver. They are overpopulated now in Prague and it is prohibited to feed them :)

Hi, though you've seen quite a lot, there is 100times more to see and explore - to see everything you would need to stay 7 days at least...
I recommend the Jewish quarter (a whole city district kept by Hitler in order to remember the extuingished race..) - there is a really wonderfull memorial for the Czech jews murdered by Nazis...
Then a Vysehrad castle area - a fortress from the 9th century with amazing views of the city + another cathedral (with really mindblowing paintings inside) + a cemetery for the Czech important scientists, politicians, musicians, composers etc....
Then Petřín tower, a smaller copy of Eiffel tower from 1891, with its impressive views all over the city..
Then Žižkov, Vinohrady, Karlín - districts with beautiful buildings, cafes, parks etc...
I could write an essay about all what Prague has to offer, but if you'll be coming back, write me down and I can show you all the hidden gems, even those outside of the guide books.... Prague has been titled the worlds most georgeous city in 2021, and that for a reason...

Oh, Rubber Duck shop. Love it. I went in the one in Amsterdam last year. Didn't realise Prague had one as well. Why did you get kicked out of the Rudolfinum?
Yeah it was a nice little surprise! I didn’t get ‘kicked out’ as such, just wanted to go in and have a look around and the woman told me I couldn’t pretty much
I hope you had a good time in Prague, but I’d never recommend some of the things you did. Firstly, taking MacDonalds for lunch before going to the castle……there are some amazing authentic Czech restaurants/pubs int hat same area that are of course far better.
The sweet shop you went in, it’s a tourist trap. There are real Czech sweet shops that sell the same sweets for a fraction of the price you would pay in the shop you went to.
The astronomical clock is nice to see, but mostly it’s an area overcrowded once per hour and fairly disappointing to see.
The beaver……not a beaver 😜. And I’m not sure if you realised it at the time, but the castle was in the background as you were walking across Charles Bridge. 😊
Its not a beaver! It is a nutria or "the river rat" if you will. All locals hate these little sods...

That animal is not a beaver, but nutria - Myocastor coypus. Its is a non-native species from south america and moreover invasive one. It doesnt build dams like beavers, just deep holes at river banks what is very harmful to the environment. Feeding, keeping and breeding invasive species is strongly forbidden under the risk of big fines. In general wild animals shouldnt be fed because of threat of synantropization or you could harm them by giving them wrong food. Good example of this is when people throw pastry to aquatic birds. They may like it but it is worse than if you fed your child only by sweets.

Nutria = Otter in propper english.
Its an invasive animal, orinally from South America, spreading very fast all over our country because people love then an bring the unlimited meadure od food. Sometime the otters re too freak when Asii g for food..! My mom told mě that in 1970's they Věře serverved in Hospitals Aš a diet food.... Then the otters disappierd from the food market an Now after 2010 they appearrd in Prague nature.. To compare the swans have been in Prague since 1977 - having Its headquarters in the Věry same place.. Thera Are also ducks And surprisigly also seadguls? (The sea birds)
@@BenRobson123 in German we call it nutria rat, because it has a rat like tail. A beaver would have a broad paddle-shaped tail, not a a long thin one. Beavers are very difficult to spot, mainly active at dawn or night. All similar animals you see during daytime in many central European cities and places and close to humans are most likely nutrias. Nutrias were introced and kept in farms for cheap fur production - but some escaped. What invivoik writes about digging holes is a problem in Lowland areas where they damage dikes which work as flooding protection.

The Astronomical Clock is anything but 600 years old. It has been rebuild many times, the last time was in the early 19th century iirc.
Please mention only things you are really sure of.
And please, next time, don't stay on the touristic paths but look left and right of it.
It speking about its cockwork that was oldest stel working of its kind not exterior of clock! And whole Old Town squere was level up

But hey, it sounds for sure more interesting to tourists if they think they're looking at a 600+ years old clock. Prague's tourism board will like it.
