    It is a very good video for a generalised idea of how things work, but I would like to have seen some deeper details like for example shape of blades and runners for maximum efficiency. Still is is very useful and it gives an overall picture as an initiation walk into hydro power.

    Hello mekanizmalar! Thanks for sharing the video. While i was learning the physics behind the working of francis turbine, i was struck with one point. The point was....when the water flows through the runner, the runner rotates because of impulsive action and lift force (due to pressure difference created on the two sides of the runner as the water flows through it). My question is....how this pressure difference is created on the two sides of the runner?

    • @mekanizmalar
      @mekanizmalar  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your visit and question. The inner side of the runner is connected to outside world where the pressure is atmospheric while the inner side is connected to the dam where pressure is high.

    Why rivers are not being narrowed and deepened for higher flow velocity? Quite many rivers could be used for cheap above water energy generators without as much as dam ecological influence.

    • @mekanizmalar
      @mekanizmalar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Piotr, in order to make water flow faster we need elevation difference between inlet and output to the narrow channel. Narrow channels will create some elevation behind it, which effectively would create a dam like effect. These elevations won't be high enough to create meaningful energy. Open channels also have some debris, like tree trunks, moving with water, which would damage above the water energy generating systems. However, dams creates higher elevations lakes behind the dam and use screening systems to remove the debris from the water which goes to turbines.

    • @mekanizmalar
      @mekanizmalar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respect your point of view. However, during my education nobody give me a free book nor a free university education. Besides someone paid me to do this animation and they have right to protect their investment.

    • @feynmanwasagenius3482

      @@mekanizmalar Well I understand that somebody else paid for the product to be produced. Personally the only education I got was from a local library, if it wasnt for that I wouldnt have had an education so I am passionate about ensuring education is free for everybody.

    • @mekanizmalar
      @mekanizmalar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@feynmanwasagenius3482 I understand your point of view very well, I benefited a lot from free education. The education was free in my country, Turkey when I was studied. Turkish government scholarship sponsored my PhD in America which I benefited a lot. However, in the America education system is very expensive. I wish it was free so that many bright poor American kids could get the education they deserve. I love the phrase, A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Waste. By the way, my copy right does not prevent people sharing the video, it only prevents people for copying and using it for monetary gain.
