    While living in Nashville I had the amazing experience of working with Nigel Olsson (drums) and Dee Murray (bass); from the legendary Elton John Band. I’ve never received a greater honor than when they played on my song “Waiting To Hit Bottom”. After many requests I'm releasing all footage from the recording session with Nigel Olsson. This was the last time Nigel and Dee Murray appeared on a recording together.
    To download "Waiting To Hit Bottom" jonblackstone....
    To hear my story of recording with Dee Murray and Nigel: • Recording with Dee Mur...
    All Jon Blackstone's music is available for download (or CD) at jonblackstone.... and everywhere music is sold.

    Fascinating behind the scenes with the Great Nigel Olsson! What a cool song. Significant that Dee & Nigel played their last together with you.

      To be honest I still can’t believe it happened. The unlikelihood of meeting Dee and Nigel was mind blowing. But to have them play on a song is still beyond my wildest imagination. Thanks for watching!

    Reminiscing! Amazing footage and journey into what must have been a mind-blowing experience for you. The only EJ band members that I ever met and chatted with (1/2 hour) were John Jorgenson and Charlie Morgan in Seattle in February of 1998. John was particularly kind & charming (and talented!). Thank you for sharing this treasured footage. It must bring back wonderful memories...

    Wow, that must have been a HUGE experience for you! What an accomplishment for you to share studio time with these two pros. How many musicians get to experience recording with their idols?
    Thank you, again. Your enthusiasm really helps propel your content which is genuine, honest, and so relatable. Seeing these things from your perspective is always a fun and interesting experience.
    Great work as usual, Jon. 👍

      @@JonBlackstone you're welcome Jon. I also wanted to say that as soon as you mentioned the "Don't Let the Sun" drum fill, of course that played instantly in my head. Iconic fill! And I couldn't agree more that the guys in Elton's band have gone underappreciated for too long.
      The other thing I dig about your channel, it's your ability to underscore and highlight some gem-like performances and parts. I think it's because you're both a fan, and a musician, and both of those things really come out in your work. I think that's a key tie in having people really identify with your point of view.

    That was fantastic!! How on earth did you get Nigel Olsson and Dee Murray to play on your record? How did that all come about?
    I don’t blame you guys one bit for geeking out over Nigel’s equipment, and they later to find out that was “the kit” that played on all those songs we love so much.
    What an unforgettable experience that must have been! ❤

    What's the song playing in the background at the start of this video?

    • @JonBlackstone
      @JonBlackstone  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Everytime you hear those amazing drum fills it’s the isolated drums from “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down on Me”. If you listen with earbuds you’ll hear it in the background. Thanks for watching!

      My bad, jon, not the song I was referring to. I definitely recognize don't let the sun. It's the song that kicks in pretty audibly around the 2-minute mark:)
