- This song was written in the late 19th century by Sìne NicFhionnlaigh of Tong, Lewis who was courting a young fisherman from Uig, Dòmhnall MacRath. They married soon after the composition.
It was first published in Henry Whyte's collection, The Celtic Lyre (Edinburgh, 1898). There is also an Irish version.

How often haunting the highest hilltop,
I scan the ocean, a sail to see.
Will it come tonight, love? Will it come tomorrow?
Or ever come, love, to comfort me?

I play this song for solo guitar, with an arrangement of my own.
I play with a McIlroy Guitar A-25 (Cedar/Walnut), with Dropped-D tuning, recorded with Cardioid Condenser Microphone.
