playing insurgency sandstorm really made me realize just how "average" I was at shooting games. Strip away the auto aim, aim assist, constant UAVs in the air, perks, tactical sprint/bunny jumping/drop shotting and just throwwing you in a baarebones environment. Its truly a breath of fresh air.
I definitely have a soft spot for this game too. I’m not the “thousands of hours” gamer, so for me the 150 hours I put into it was a lot. I haven’t played it in a long time but I may have to jump back on again in the future because I definitely miss it.
I got super into the first Insurgency when I didn't have a PC- just had a little MacBook Air and it was one of the only games I could play. That was 10 years ago, but Sandstorm sure helps scratch that itch.

I play in south america server, in some matches that are players that exploit the game and get inside rocks or trees, shooting everybody in the map and we cant kill them. Ive sent an email complaining with the player´s IDs and reported them in the match, nothing happened to them tho :/ Felt like no one actually saw my email

This mod should have been always there. Gunplay was built for these speeds. Not whacky bunnyhopping supersprinting which was added later in development.
What is so nostalgic about this game is that it's a return to simple competitive shooters. A return to form in the case of skill based shooters. Where you are rewarded for mastering recoil patterns, choosing effective ranges with said weapons and managing your reloads are crucial. Putting yourself in advantageous positioning and listening to your surroundings and working with your team. My friends and I enjoy this game so much. Best sound design in the game. Long live sandstorm or shooters alike.

Tacti one day you gotta show off firefight competitive. It needs a revival. There are still people who miss it but new players can barely get a game going. I used to play pugs on discord but haven't played recently. The devs neutered the mode but it's really fun and pugs use a custom match set up.
That moment with poor Security guy is just pure Sandstorm moment if i ever saw one: from capturing sod to having one of your teammmate having a bro moment with enemy and then you all just do firing squad 😂 Just golden
This game was beautiful. Already get nostalgia looking back to the Alpha/Beta and early launch days. Sad that we will probably never get a new insurgency or similar game like this(or if so it would be radically different). There are still a few content updates left since they already sold the year 3 pass with promises of this future content. It's not gonna be much at all - tbh the updates have been lackluster for a good while now. But it's something... maybe a map, couple new firearms and some cosmetics but yeah its something at least.
I love this game, honestly I've never played a PVP, all of my almost 500 hours are on PVE, specially in the ISMC servers but unfortunatelly the mods have some troubles. I hope that in a near future we will get another insurgency with more mod support.
I fell in love with Sandstorm in it's early days. The game was gritty AF and I was hoping it kept going in that direction. Unfortunately for me, the devs took it in the opposite direction. Changing movement and recoil around, dumbed down the texture quality and began with the cosmetics. That's ok though, my loss was other peoples gain.
Have you tried SPTmod+realism+sain+donuts+lootingbots/questingbots+amandagraphics? (mod for EFT making the game a single player against bots, amazing fr)
more or less. anything semi-auto or full auto can suffice. of course with smg’s you’re losing a lot of one shot kill potential but the rate of fire can usually balance that out
It kinda pissed me off because I was really excited about this game coming to PS5 and I bought the premium edition because it said it came with all future map packs. Will I played it for about 6mo and nothing really came out in terms of new maps, by the time they finally did I moved on. I liked the have but there weren't enough maps.
Its nowhere like escape from tarkov, it has similar vibes if anything. BTW dont get the eft modpack. GAMMA feels like the intended art direction and i personally had a more immersive experience with it.

Yo just bought this just last week for the PS4 at my mom's and omg dude!!! I'll say, I'm very happy i bought Insurgency instead of taking that money to MW3 for the new zombies. Sure; after about 3 to 5 matches of insurgency im satisfied and getting burnt out, but at the same time its not that same getting burnt out an dissatisfied feeling you get when you give up on COD anything. I love COD, but damn dude after Black ops 1 things just have not been the same.
I still love Sandstorm even if it's a bit dead at least in EU servers. Too bad the franchise is killed by Lars Wingefors and there will never be another game like this.
I have always wished they would just take the gunplay and movement and put it in a survival/extraction game. Such a shame there was never any real good progression added.

I really dislike this idea that a game has to release new content to be relevant and for people to play it. Why can't we just continue to play a game because it is a good game? That's why I still play this game. It is one of a kind. The only shooter that exists that doesn't insult my intelligence but actually is fluid and runs well. I don't want or need some BS extrinsic carrot on a stick progression ladder tricking me into thinking I am having fun with a game. Insurgency is just a fun game to actually play...intrinsically. Let's keep playing games like this and keep them alive and thriving as they should be. They don't need new content. New isn't always better.

SQUAD & Tarkov both did it better, Insurgency sandstorm felt stiff, The first standalone insurgency title felt WAY better.
